Meridian Sea, 120 NM West of Meridian Antilles
Operation Neptune
Secret Op

Darkness approached on the horizon, since late afternoon the cargo ship had been shadowed by the submarine Bditelny from the depths below. The ship in question was a medium sized cargo vessel registered in the Republic of Remion. The crew was aware of their task, they had been briefed by the officers aboard the ship of the situation still unfolding as all diplomatic efforts were being exhausted for the return of the 250 soldiers still held captive by the Republic. The officers themselves of the submarine were only aware of their half of the mission, an operation completely off the books. The Meridian had became the sight of multiple Imperial vessels over the Pannonian conflict, and the high tensions had kept their presence enhanced in the region

Another 50 nautical miles south-west working in tandem without the submarines knowledge was the Battlecruiser Vechny. The Officers aboard and those in the electronic warfare suite knew the mission they had been tasked with, the rest of the crew was in the dark. As the sun went down they would begin interference with the navigation system aboard the cargo ship distorting their true location while also simultaneously jamming communication too and from the ship.

....

.......

......

2030 hours gentleman, we are still a go for the mission correct?

Yes Captain! We have received no transmissions to say otherwise.

For the boys still captive in Remion. Its time to feed the fish.

Two torpedoes from the Bditelny raced thru the sea towards their unsuspecting target, as they entered the designated killbox they armed themselves.
3.......2......1..... the sound of the successful kill was confirmed by those listening. The Bditelny then proceeded to return to a new patrol zone of the Meridian, believing they were leaving them to all die.

Meanwhile aboard the Vechny they had successfully fooled the navigational systems aboard the cargo ship, making them believe they were in a different location than they were, leading the ship astray enough it would not be at the coordinates they believed they were at. Communications from the vessel were blocked, they would believe they were reporting an SOS that could be heard by all, but in reality nobody was hearing anything. Twenty minutes after the initial attack the first helicopter from the battlecruiser lifted off heading in the actual known position of the cargo ship, it was to "rescue" the twenty-three men aboard.

Two hours later all the crew were aboard and the Vechny was heading back to port in the Noks Free State with the "rescued" crew. Nobody knew any better, they thought they were safe and had been lucky enough for a military vessel to have been close enough to render aid, the crew of the Vechny was friendly tending to their needs, it made them feel safe. They were told they would be heading towards the nearest naval facility to be medically cleared by naval doctors and to see their respected consular officials to make arrangements to return home.

The Vechny was greeted by the security detachment of the naval base after mooring at the pier. The security detachment began leading the crew from the sunken vessel towards two 6x6 troop carriers where they would be loaded up, and hauled off to be "medically evaluated". They would see medical staff, as they were going to be staying for awhile.

They would only be on the base for a maximum of twenty four hours before they would be transferred into the custody of the Romanov Company to hold in one of their maximum security facilities that were used to house some of the more troublesome of the Noks population. The stay these men would endure would not be so pleasant, this was not the frigid cold of the north, this was a heat that was far more intolerable and miserable.

The crew of the ship had taken a tally of the nationalities they had rescued. There was five including the captain, from Remion, six from Eiffellland, four from Eugenia, six from Csengia, and one each from Ostmark and Serbovia. There was some questions amongst the crew about some of the nationals claiming to be from parts of Csengia given the diplomatic row over the past months but it was neither their problem nor care to validate the claims.

"Well Mr. Bellic we have an offer to make to you. Fate appears to be on your side at this time. Its quite simple, you will be granted an immunity, you will essentially leave this vile retched place and it will become nothing but a bleak moment in what will become a very bright future for you."

The agent slid across the table an opened folder with a list of charges that they were being charged with, as none of the crew had known they were already publicly being charged with these crimes, they didn't even know what was going on in the world from being in isolation 24/7. Niko looked over the folder, his eyes getting ever so bigger when he read the charges of human trafficking and the penalty of death.

"NO! No, we didn't do any of this. These are just lies."

"You know this, and I know this. The rest of the world doesn't know what to think. So the deal is, confess, an admission of guilt amongst a crew member who has remorse. You will be free to leave, you will be discretely rewarded for your confession. The world will believe you are still imprisoned here, given leniency instead of death. You can return home to Serbovia Niko, or to the Empire. A handsome stipend every month from the Empire, a new home, a new life. Just confess, help me to help you, by helping me your also helping your home of Serbovia. Tensions rise between them and the Republic, those Remionese sailors in there if they were back home or working alongside you on the Oyleric would probably be attempting to talk down on Serbovia as they are a cocky bunch."

"I'll take the deal, I will confess. I will say whatever is needed to be said."

The agent turned and waved to the door and another man, an Askari, brought him in an audio recorder and pen and paper. Within the hour the promise was being fulfilled. Niko was bagged and escorted out of the maximum security prison and tucked away in the SUV as it sped away to the nearest military airfield. He was going home, the rest of the crew.......well they were going to have a long short stay in this sweltering heat.

Niko Bellic had been recovered from the Noks Free State on a business jet belonging to the Serbovian Air Force. The Serbovian smuggler, who had gone through a harrowing ordeal of the sinking of the Oyleric, confinement in a Tarusan prison and the threat of execution, had been relieved to see fellow Serbovians for the first time in months. A warm meal had been prepared him for the flight home, undoubtedly superior to Tarusan prison food.

His escorts introduced themselves as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and restricted themselves to explaining Bellic what would happen upon his return to Serbovia. Bellic was told that he would be taken to a guesthouse owned by Foreign Affairs, where he would be subject to medical inspections and a thorough debriefing of the events on the Oyleric. After that he would be provided with a new identity and all the other perks that had been promised by the Tarusan authorities.

The entire Oyleric affair had been a major headache for Serbovian authorities. Petrovgrad knew that the sinking had probably been a Tarusan false flag operation, but pretense indicating otherwise had been kept for diplomatic reasons. Bellic had an extensive criminal record and was listed by Federal authorities as a known associate of the infamous Zelic crime family. Therefore, Serbovian diplomats had been thoroughly disinterested in assisting him in any way. This time, however, the friendly men and women who introduced themselves as Foreign Affairs staff were actually not employees of the said ministry.

Upon landing at the King Aleksandar II International Airport, the plane taxied to an isolated section of the tarmac which had been emptied of any unnecessary personnel. Bellic was immediately ushered into an SUV and driven off. It was at this point that he was told that his reception committee was actually from Federalni Direkcija Spoljne Bezbednosti, the Federal Directorate of External Security. FDSB was Serbovia's civilian intelligence agency.

The SUV drove Bellic to a rural FDSB safehouse outside of Petrovgrad, where he was received by senior representatives of the agency's Operations Section. Freedom came at a price, and Bellic's price was that he would be under monitoring by the agency for the rest of his life to make sure that he would not renege on the deal that he had made with the Tarusan authorities. Bellic knew that the FDSB would not hesitate to kill him if needed.

Second, he was told that the agency was interested in his ties with the Zelics, who ran an international smuggling syndicate and had recently fought a destructive mob war for the control of Port of Moskopolje. Bellic's role in the crime family had been to establish new international routes for the smuggling of drugs, people and arms which served as a major source of income for the syndicate. The FDSB wanted control of those routes, partly to regulate the flow of illicit goods to Serbovia and partly to use the Zelic's foreign connections to facilitate FDSB operations. Bellic was told that when he would return to the syndicate, he was to work towards advancing as high as possible within its ranks. Upon time, services would be required of him without the option to refuse.
