Southern European Economic Defence Treaty

Members:

1. The Southern European Economic Defence Treaty exists to unite all countries of Himyar under a common goal of peace, stability, and reliance.

2. The Southern European Economic Defence Treaty was formed from the ashes of the Himyari Freedom Alliance because the members became divided. SEEDT ensures all nations in Southern Europe will work out there differences without war.

Membership

1. SEEDT consists of the three founding members as well as Nations who apply and are accepted by the founding members.

2. Potential member states must be in the region of Himyar as outlined below, and applying members who do not reside there will be automatically disqualified from membership.

3. There are two membership levels in the alliance.

- Full members are permitted to take part in the affairs of the Armed Coalition Council as well as the Economic Branch of the alliance. They are also permitted to take part in votes to eject members from the Alliance.

- Alliance Partners are the non aligned members of the alliance. They are allowed to partake in the affairs of the Economic Trade Agreement, but they are not involved in the Armed Coalition Council nor can they eject members from the alliance. Alliance partners can also be nations outside Himyar.

Southern Europe Defence Network

1. The SEDN controls the affairs of the Southern Europe Defence Forces. They are responsible for deploying them on strategic missions as well as response to incidents in the member states.

2. Only Full members are allowed to take part in the SEDN, and Alliance Partners are not.

3. The SEDF are composed of volunteer forces from Full Member Nations. The SEDF will take place in military exercises as well as defending member states from outside threats. They will also use strategic talks to negotiate solutions.

Economic Branch

1. The Economic Branch is the level of entry for Alliance Members. All members must participate in the Economic affairs to be a part of the Alliance.

2. All members must allow Free Trade between the member states. This provides for a open marketplace within the alliance to promote growth in Himyar.

3. 3. All members are encouraged to permit the free movement of workers among the member states. This allows companies to have a broader range of employment and influences growth in Himyar.

4. All members must ease travel restrictions among the member states. This promotes freedom of movement and further integrates the member countries of Himyar.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The establishment of the Southern European Economic Defence Treaty Organization comes at a time when Himyar is burning and the stability that is offered by this alliance has the potential of stabilizing the situation across the region.

Furthermore, in an attempt to assist the newly established alliance, Foreign Minister Villevan has announced he would like to host a summit in Paris and invites his counterparts from Ascalon, Cakistan, Fulanistan and Jurzan to attend.

OOC: PM the names of your Foreign Ministers. And make sure you pass the word on to all of your allies if one hasn't seen this.

Umbazi would be interested in a Defensive Alliance, but we simply cannot agree to this far-reaching and totally destabilising demands of free movement and open markets. Himyar is still in a very fragile and developing state, and the economic chaos wrought by such sweeping and ambitious changes would destroy the livelihoods of tens of thousands in a nation where even a secure market is no guarantee of economic stability or prosperity. We have worked hard over the last forty years to bring prosperity to Umbazi, and we feel we speak for many developing nations in Himyar when we oppose this foolish and grandiose notion of Economic Union.

If this SEEDF will not reconsider its stance on the Economic positions, then we will be forced to consider alternative means of politically securing our country.

The treaty outlined here is too far-reaching and implements too big changes all too sudden. We fear the lofty goals of regional stabilization may not be reached and quite to the contrary, social and economic destabilization will be the consequence of this hasty approach to bloc-building.

We do not expect new members to make rapid and sudden changes to their policies. Rather, we see signing the treaty as a promise that the country will begin to work to change them to eventually reach all the requirements.

We merely suggest that countries up their borders to make movement easier. We are not forcing sudden change upon anyone.

The Kugelan free state is interested in joining this Alliance. Would the founders aprove our membership?

Jacobus Sauer, Secretary for state for foreign affairs to the Volksraad

Ascalon thinks that the Kugelan Free State should be allowed into the alliance. So we vote FOR their admittance.

With a majority vote reached, Cakistan's is not necessary unless I am mistaken. So Kugelan now is officially a part of the SEEDTO.

We do not trust the Ascaloni in their millitant ambitions in this regard. Only recently they wished to violate the sanctity of our borders, now they demand we open them to them under the laughable pretence of greater unity. Who benefits most from such unrestricted access to our resources? Who makes the most profit, gains the most strength, from forcing us to overturn our doctrines, scrap our millitaries, and make ourselves more like some universal standard dictated by the Ascaloni?

This Alliance is another Imperialist Venture, just like the laughable and impotent Himyar Freedom Alliance was. As long as White men seek to dominate the politics of Himyar, we shall spurn this SEEDF, and we advise all our brother Himyari, be they Nethian or Uroduah, to look to their own blood-brothers and kin rather than these untrustworthy Kuffuri.

We are glad that the Umbazi do not wish to join this alliance. Your nation has shown an increasing tendency to undermine any attempt the Ascaloni people attempt to make. We tried to help you get rid of your criminals near our border. You denied our aid, and we are receiving reports that you are killing civilians. Clearly you are opposed to any alliance that makes you equal to others. You only wish to control, and we will have no part in it.
