Spring 2025 Map Thread — Ardennes 1.2

Map edition 1.2 has been released and can also be found on the first post. Additionally 1.0 and 1.1 are archived there.

Yet again a very long period between releases—sorry, trips to other places and other countries—so there may be some errors in request processing, especially in regard to new nations. Many new requests did not make the cut. Compared to last time, I have been very picky with activity because activity plummeted during this period of time. If I am away for a month, that should not grind RP to halt. I have not taken much care to map my own territory and my own RP. Rather than dwelling on it, I prioritized everyone else's. My own nation should not be considered especially factual or complete. Regardless...,

All requests prior to this post are considered addressed. New requests are considered to be after this post.

Stricter activity rules will continue to be applied as I believe that has lessened the workload for me, and not spammed the map with inactive nations. There are nations still on the map that I consider rather inactive and if they do not post again between now and the next update, I will likely «green» them.

Hope the map fits everyone's expectations. This was largely just a map update, but do take note of the changes to Eastern Middle Europe, and the inclusion of our first river. Expect more rivers to come. In order to make it easier to see rivers, I felt removing colors blocks was important. I made unoccupied territory darker to provide better contrast.

If something is incorrect, feel free to politely make me aware of such errors.

I am officially (for better or worse) picking up Josepania and moving it someplace else. Specifically this place.
  • Nation Name: Apostolic Commonwealth of Josepania
  • Local Name: Rzeczpospolita Apostolska Józefaziema
  • Location:
    wxLpAgw.png
  • Capital City: Józefagród (black dot)
  • Picture of your national flag:

  • Extra Comments: I would love for a notVistula river to run through the center of Josepania from the notBaltic down to the notDanube you've created (though I will defer to mapmaker's choice if there's something aesthetically better) and if it could also correspond more or less to the subdivision between Vistulania and Selonia that'd be awesome as well. If the border colors could also be somewhat similar to a murrey color like on my flag, that'd also be fantastic

Extra Comments: Remove Sylvania completely, no shrinkage, no NPCage, no nothing. Delete it.

I will use Natal's account to do this secondary to Ranrike.

Please, peacefully and respectfully, put Nanuka down - the last standing power of Westernesse and therefore the greatest to have ever existed. In its place, please create:

Nation Name: The United Commonwealth of Workers' Republics (I do like the full name, but if its too long, The Commonwealth or UCWR is fine)
Location:
uucXuYA.png

Note: The entire western border is based off the Not-Mississippi River that Ovi made in the Massive Westernesse Map, if you want to include that huge river on the map.
Capital City: New Providence

I'm afraid I'm going to need a bit of explanation as to why Kristbjarg exists, and why it's in our Italian region, but apparently not Italian. Nothing is impossible, but this is enough of a head scratcher that the «community lore» needs to make sense.

I guess my main thought stems from a mixture of the Varangians in Constantinople, Sigurd I's crusade, and the Norman conquest of Sicily. And I literally just mashed them together into this long-stewing idea I had of a modernized crusader state. If that's no good, I can put it somewhere on Himyar proper. Maybe the thing that kind of looks like Sinai?

I don't want to stand in the way of fun, just make sure your factbook/wiki page has a good backstory for how this all stayed united? Of course, others on the forum can object if they wish if they find it too outlandish.

I understand. I'll workshop it. If it doesn't pan out with the others, I can adjust the claim.

I presently have no objection to the entirety of Zalo’s claim at this time. If he wants to move his notSicily to the Sinai-looking area just west of my overseas territory that’s fine too. Whatever is best for the community.

@Josepania I’m not sure how set you are on this colony at my border. But, originally I left it unclaimed to have some RP with Lars, and since he has left, I would potentially want to reintegrate it.

I appreciate you letting me know! It's honestly not set in stone (seeing as I've already dropped a claim in Palmyra east of that colony). Let's talk about that RP off-forum so I can get a better understanding of what you were planning with Lars and see if that works with me.

I hereby order the demolition and greening of Cantignia. It seems like God's plan has written another terminus to this great nation's journey with corresponding nations. I do not want to rewrite history or characters to make sense of a new iteration. I'll focus on a first nation and maybe rebuild and reclaim the Cantignian confines again later.

Amending this portion of my claim to let open the island west of it for @Cantignia

This is of course assuming @Warre is moving and Justosia and Caledonia are moving elsewhere

I intend to move Warre, yes, either to where Yorck is or to the northern portions of Caledonia, though am still working on it. So fine by me.

Also fine by me for what I am developing. I intend to claim the Irish-looking island eventually; however, if someone has a deep desire for it, I can seek inspiration elsewhere.
