I've decided to open a thread on the dissolution of the United Hanseatic States because I've received a lot of questions on it. This will be an open area for others to ask questions on the RP, but also collaborate and understand how to best involve themselves. Feel free to ask more questions, and involve yourself in this RP as you'd like.

My first point is that this is inherently a political RP. That is not to say war is banned from it, but we just finished a war RP in this area, and I don't think want to do another one. BORING! Instead there is an opening for political RP and political intrigue. All of these regions are open to meddling. That said, if you decided you wanted to invade to do a military campaign, fine. I won't stop you, but I notify you in advance that I already know how I plan to react to such developments as well.

My second point is that it is possible some of these entities get involved in such a tug-of-war that they become NPC-like in that multiple players might be involved in how that nation moves forward. In this case, I openly promote the usage of the old Prop-10 mechanic, and usage of dice when applicable.

What is Prop-10? Prop-10 is an old mechanic on the forum that was created in the 2010s to address nations that were important to RP but the player disappeared without a trace for a long period of time. In those days, since we didn't want to reboot the scenario, we'd allow other players to RP elements of the other nation. In this case, I would allow other players the freedom to RP their own elements in nations that obtain this NPC-like status, but I'd like them carefully drawn up in a way where we understand why this region is under Prop-10 guidance. In this interesting case I'd advocate for a Prop-10+ idea where actions are randomized with dice occasionally, and that influence and decisions are made with external-powers pushing upon those nations. For those in the know, imagine it a tad bit like diplomacy in Victoria 3 where there are percentages involved and likelihood of actions taken. I am happy to run these regions with that in mind, and therefore work as mini-mod running these select areas via other player's influence. The main regions where this is possible being Yorck, Metsamaa, and Geite. Petits-Pays and Saxe-Franconia are my own player run entities and subject only to my own RP and decision making.

If you have any other things that need to be brought up, feel free to ask.

As an opener, I will list the players involved in certain regions and who carries influence there. At the beginning, my own entities still carry influence in these regions as well, some nations might find they have influence in a region without much prior RP, and this is due to prior geopolitical RP that I am aware of. I can continually edit this table if other players find this interesting and helpful. Numbers will always add up to 100% influence.

I do myself think one of the things being overlooked is the massive economic shock that this in itself will cause.

Hanseatic states may have been a loose confederation, and they didn't share any common borders which would have made certain grids not be really interconnected making areas become cut off overnight. There is however the massive collapse of what had most likely been a common currency, a central bank. None of this now exists within each of these smaller states, stocks have probably crashed drastically.

This all would make capitol flight a high probability, and investors would probably be running, including domestic investors back to within the confines of their 'own borders'. Tie this in with Caledonia being a mess economically, and Justosia. The entire Auswegian Sea at the moment is probably suffering some massive shock.

As even said there, most of them all lack a foreign ministry. So the massive changes each state is going to be, and the short term-long term issues that arise all leave a very fun political landscape here. Dissolution of states and peoples choice sound great, until they realize that things aren't so easy and the bureaucratic messes it makes..

I do think that though there would be economic consequences, it wouldn't be a truly shocking episode. The Hanseatics as their press have shown before with all the political debates, show that the economy was already going down the dumps, with factories being moved overseas, jobs loss and what not. I think the economic situation is yes, worsened. But, particular to the Hanseatics it's like removing another piece from the jenga tower. And not the piece that makes it all come collapsing down, but the piece that makes you think twice or thrice before removing another one.

Of course, it is politically shocking, but I do not think the politics has spread to the economy in this similar fashion of a shock. I think more so that the economy is getting closer to such a situation, as the shockwave from political struggles spread wider and further. I think it's getting there, but it would take more removing of more pieces.

Then again, we are assuming things here, and I want to seek @Petits-Pays views on the matter here, which I think interests everyone involved.

What is the status of Yorck? Has it become an independent country, or is it still part of Petits-Pays?

Same question to Metsamaa and the Geite Islands.
Yorck is indeed independent, Petits-Pays due to certain political grievances has refused to recognize their independence while simultaneously having no intention of claiming them as part of Petits-Pays, putting them essentially in a legal limbo. The Geite Islands have also declared independence and are recognized as such by Petits-Pays, same with Saxe-Franken and Landshut.

Metsamaa, as of now, remains a part of Petits-Pays.

EDIT: ALSO, all of the overseas colonies & bases, be they directly Hanseatic, Petits-Pays, or Yorckish, are presently claimed and under the protection of Petits-Pays

Imho, this whole hansaxplosion + prop-10 arc is great fun but also very chaotic. That said, this week (same as last week, and probably the next) I’m too swamped with work to properly lay out my concerns or suggest a working solution.

I want to stress I’ve got nothing against how it’s playing out - it’s interesting, it’s good fuel for RP, and I’m enjoying the energy. I just think the same result could maybe be achieved in a more orderly way. Like… at least visually? Perhaps a tag system or a label that suggests a player is roleplaying a borrowed character?

In the prior scenario, we used to have a little tag thingy for folk RPing NPCs by preceding the post with the following statement:

Please consider this post as by:
[INSERT NATION HERE]
(bolded for emphasis)

And having a small graphic of the NPC's Coat of Arms or emblem or whatever on the left to be able to clearly show this was the NPC being RP'd rather than the player themselves.

Perhaps we should bring that back as an official thing.

The departure of Tyran has made it no longer seem necessary to continue to the narrative with Metsamaa. As such, I'll green it to avoid having a dead zone on the map.
