Prime Minister's Office, Grosvenor House
Paris

Today, the Prime Minister's office was busy, more so than usual, and the thirty, or so, staff of the PMO were hassled, a rare thing for this exclusive club of civil servants. Usually this sense of hassle stopped at the doors of the Prime Minister's office, but today, even the Premier was being interrupted by the various secretaries and officials seeking his signature. This sort of scene was commonplace when the Prime Minister would schedule cabinet meetings, as he had done so today - Millerand's first since becoming Premier.

It was three o'clock and the Prime Minister had returned to the office after having had lunch with his wife, back in the residential quarters of Grosvenor, the sixty three year old was flanked on either side by secretaries. The first secretary, a young boy by the name of George, spoke with a slight lisp, informing the most powerful man in the country what lay ahead for him.

"Sir, the ministers are here. But the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Energy and Agriculture wish to talk with you after the cabinet meeting."

"OK" Millerand said without looking the, slightly shorter, secretary to his left. "Inform them to meet me one by one after the cabinet adjourns."

The cabinet meeting was rather boring, in Millerand's opinion, and he barely paid any attention to the various ministers. He was anxious to find out what the four ministers wanted to talk to him about. Throughout the slow, and rather trivial, cabinet meeting, Millerand kept looking at Marcelieu, the Foreign Minister, and at Lagarde, his Finance Minister, both were the stars of his cabinet and he always treated these two ministers in a special way.

As his mind would start to drift, he would feel Marcelieu, who sat next to him, nudge him slightly. Marcelieu was there looking out for Millerand. They were like brothers, their friendship had its beginnings in their days at Paris University back in the 50s and 60s. Marcelieu, being older and more wise, had always been like a guardian angel for the, sometimes, reckless and impulsive Millerand. Marcelieu had also been the reason Millerand entered politics.

Lagarde, the first woman to be Finance Minister, was also an old classmate of the Prime Minister, in fact, one of his closest friends. In the days before both had entered politics, they had had a roaring affair, which had - thankfully - remained a secret and the reputation of the two had remained intact. Although occasionally, the affair would be rekindled for one night of passion and by morning the entire matter would be forgotten and both would get on with their work.

Marcelieu and Lagarde walked into the Prime Minister's office together. Millerand followed them and closed the door. He walked over to the bar, took out some wine for himself and Lagarde, Marcelieu chose to remain away from alcohol, and sat on the huge beige colored sofa, in front of the two ministers.

"So" Millerand began "To what do I owe this meeting?" he smiled. With the other ministers he was, of course, more formal, but these two were his old friends. These two were his inner-inner circle, even his wife wasn't part of this.

OOC: Internal RP, related to PM... his interactions, his life in Grosvenor House. Basically this preceding post was just a starter. I have a couple of things in the pipeline.
