The Official Absence and Return from Absence Thread

Hi everyone,

Until last week, I was extremely busy with work. I could have still participated in the forum activities, but- perhaps as some of you have guessed - I've been feeling rather discouraged lately. On one hand, I feel like my level of engagement in recent months may have been disproportionately high compared to the forum average. On the other, there's been no clear response from the administration for weeks regarding the proposal I worked on with Cervia and Tyran, which hasn't helped.

Cervia has been doing everything he can to keep me involved, and I’m grateful for that. But the truth is, I feel like the forum and I are moving at different speeds right now. That’s not necessarily anyone’s fault - it’s just a mismatch. And since I haven’t been able to find workable solutions to the difficulties I’ve encountered, I’d rather step back for a moment than risk becoming a distraction or a source of tension.

That said, considering the messages I’ve received from some players and the small but promising steps forward regarding the proposals, I feel it’s only fair to explain where I stand.

I don’t want to spend what little free time I have on a project whose spirit isn’t broadly shared - if not by everyone, then at least by a majority. I don’t want to wait weeks (or even months) for feedback or replies that may never come.

And I want to be clear: this is not meant to sound like criticism or, even less, an ultimatum. It’s my own limitation that I struggle to engage creatively without a shared direction or a minimum of responsiveness. That’s on me - not on the forum, and not on any individual player.

The suggestions I helped shape - such as introducing the roles of Narrator and Historian, and limiting secondary nations - were intended to reduce this risk. Are these goals self-serving? Probably. But I still believe they’d benefit everyone.

As for what comes next: I’m not entirely sure. I’ll be on holiday soon, and I plan to use that time to rest and gain some perspective.
I hope that, with some distance, I’ll be able to return with a mindset that fits more naturally with how the forum works and evolves.

Thanks for reading, and thank you to those who took the time to check in.

TLDR; I am not leaving, but I am not going to be proactive until further notice.

Good evening, I must inform you that my absence will be much longer than expected and there is no way I will be able to resume playing in the short term due to both technical and personal reasons.

Have a nice day. I hope the forum continues to improve even without my/our presence.
I'm very sad to hear this. Good luck with whatever you are dealing with. Hope to see you back soon.
