High-Speed Rail for Dagomba
The Transport Administration has confirmed that serious studies are underway for the creation of a high-speed rail link between Söderhamn and Nya Ängelstad. Dagomba's largest port and the national capital are currently linked by rail tracks built by the Suionians before Dagomba's independence and only recently renovated and updated to more modern standards. The creation of a high-speed link would greatly boost passanger services between Dagomba's two largest cities, and would also benefit other cities along the planned line.
A more broad tender may be launched once the time is right, the Transport Administration assures, to draw in additional capital.

“We are currently in talks with our Suionian counterparts and investors to see what are options are,” Alfred Skarsgård, Director General of the Dagomban Transport Administration, has commented to the press. “Unfortunately, Dagomba does not have the means to finance the project without foreign investments. But the government is decided to see this project go through and come to fruitition.”
A more broad tender may be launched once the time is right, the Transport Administration assures, to draw in additional capital.

Söderhamn Slum Evictions Lead to Riots
The eviction of the Kebatu shanty town on the outskirts of Dagomba's largest city and busiest port did not go smoothly as residents attacked police officers. Riot police had to use teargas to disperse the crowds and allow bulldozers and construction workers to tear down the illegal constructions. The evictions come after a legal procedure initiated by the community of Kebatu, a village populated by ethnic Owatos, which owns the lands upon which the illegal shanty town of the same name sprung up several years ago. The judiciary found in favour of the villagers of Kebatu, denied the squatters any right to claim the terrain as theirs without the explicit agreement of the villagers of Kebatu and ordered the evacuation of the squats.
The case is just one in a long series of “battles for land” between small villages spread around the ever growing city of Söderhamn and residents of shanty towns that come to the city seeking work and better living conditions, but often ending up living in slums. The Owatos, who are culturally close to the Mabutus if not for their Islamic religion, have voiced on numerous accounts that the unchecked urbanization of their homeland risks undermining their continued existence as a people within Dagomba.
In this particular case, however, the worries about cultural identity might come last. Indeed, it has been learned from trustworthy sources that the land liberated by the evictions will not serve to raise crops, but shall be rented out on longterm to a developer who plans to build a country club with a golf course to service the higher income residents of Söderhamn. The developer in question, Lindgren AB, apparently refused to sign any contracts with the residents of Kebatu until the question of squatters was settled.

Slum Residents Nearly Burn Solaris Preacher Alive
The residents of the Kakebe Slum on the outskirts of Nya Ängelstad were narrowly prevented from setting fire to the home of a Solaris preacher, with the preacher locked up inside. The residents of the slum apparently did not take kindly to the “venomous snake spitting Devil's poison” in their scenic neighbourhood and chased the preacher down the street until he barricaded himself in his modest dwelling, which nevertheless exceeds those around it in terms of comfort, namely due to being built out of actual wood and bricks and with a sturdy door at the entrance.
Having had no luck in bashing down the door, residents began to pile up straw, cardboard and sticks around the house to set it ablaze. The preacher, whose name has not been disclosed by the police to protect his identity (and also apparently his life), made a panicked call to the police. The first on the scene was the local constable Igor-Johann Kawambo. We have met him at his work place, a small police station nestled on the only paved road running through the slum.
The constable managed to keep the crowd from carrying out its designs until a patrol from the metropolitan police came to pick the preacher up and evacuate him to a safe area. Igor-Johann stays modest and refuses to consider himself a hero.
Due to the freedom of religion, the activities of the Solaris Church in Dagomba are as of yet not forbidden. However, there are some rumours from the Ministry of the Interior is considering classifying the Solaris Church as a terrorist or at least a criminal organisation, which would severely hinder its operations in Dagomba. But even without this, the Kakebe incident shows that apparently Solaris missionaries are not welcome in Dagomba, or at least very warmly welcome, manner of speaking of course.
As we left Kakebe, we passed by the house of the Solaris preacher. It is apparently now claimed by squatters, judging by all sorts of laundry hanging out of broken windows, the missing front door and the ruined bio toilet cabin in the yard littered with all sorts of useful junk. Need we say the water boiler was out in the yard in various stages of dismantling? We wish the new tenants all the best in their newly found home!

“I've been working in this district for over twenty years, so the residents kinda know me well,” the constable commented while rubbing his generous tummy and chasing away a fly that chose to use his chicken sandwich as a landing pad. “So I went to them and told them that it was not good to burn people. And that Dagomban laws did not allow burning people, that this was a grave crime and they could go to jail for many many years.”
The constable managed to keep the crowd from carrying out its designs until a patrol from the metropolitan police came to pick the preacher up and evacuate him to a safe area. Igor-Johann stays modest and refuses to consider himself a hero.

In a harshly worded statement, Dagomba's Prime Minister Thord has slammed what he called an “anachronistic imperialist occupation” of neighbouring Republic of Radilo by the Kingdom of Montelimar. The country, a former colony of Valmy, invoked the “dominion” clause following the collapse of local governing institutions, which led to the reintroduction of Montelimarian rule over the Hymiarite nation. Montelimar's ambassador to Nya Ängelstad was summonned by the Foreign Office to receive a formal notice of protest over the actions of Valmy in Port Nouveau and express Dagomba's dissatisfaction with the reintroduction of Montelimarian rule in Radilo.
But while the political leadership was quick to condemn, there are signs that the higher ranking members of Dagomba's military are not as harsh to judge. Indeed, with the collapse of Radilo, there is increased threat of Nzeke separatism within Dagomba. The Nzeke people was historically divided by the colonial borders and continues to be divided between Radilo and Dagomba. Various rebel movements have throughout the decades tried to establish an independent Nzekeland, carving out swathes of Radilan and Dagomban territories.
Dagomba's Armed Forces have been known to unofficially, yet very efficiently, cooperate with Radilan forces in supressing the Nzeke separatists. It may seem that some amongst Dagomba's generals are worried that should this cooperation with Radilans, and now Montelimarians, collapse, it would spell increased difficulties for Dagomba, already plagued by ethnic and religious separatism in its other ethnic peripheries.

Socialists Call on a General Strike, Trade Unions Unsure to Join
The Socialist Party of Dagomba has called on a general strike to force the Government to call new elections. There seems to be, however, a lack of synchronization between the social-democrats and their allies in the Dagomban Federation of Trade Unions, the Dominion's largest national trade union centre. Indeed, the Federation's executive committee, made of representatives of each trade union part of the federation, is to gather only tomorrow to discuss the possibility of a general strike. However, already now some unnamed sources with the DFTU's secretariat are skeptical about the idea of a general strike to force through political goals and not economic ones.
Prime Minister Thord has already issued a statement calling any attempt to conduct a general strike to force government change as unacceptable and illegitimate. The Dagomban Union for the Development of Trade and Industry, the largest union of employers and corporations, has also reacted coolly to any attempt of a general strike to force through political goals.

"What we do is defend workers' rights, like salaries, working conditions, social rights. We don't exactly force government changes, even if we all know our Government is just a ridiculous puppet on strings pulled by Suionians," an unnamed source with the DFTU told Söderhamns Posten. "But that's no news. Life goes on."

The Kingdom of Suionia wishes reassure the Government of Dagomba that Suionia will not engage in any conference without the full membership of the Karlskrona Accord. That being said, we hope that any Great Engellexic invitational oversight, is merely only that, an oversight. Rest assured, the Kingdom of Suionia values the efforts of the Dagomban people and will surely call upon the might of the Dagomban people should these peace talks fail.

To Her Excellency Charlotte "Lotta" Öqvist, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Suionia,
Madam, your missive comes at an opportune moment as, indeed, there has been some misunderstanding amongst Her Majesty's Dagomban subjects on the nature of the peace talks with Great Engellex and the Dominion's participation in them. I can assure Your Excellency that my Government has never doubted for a single second about the Suionian readiness to defend Dagomban interests in the broader international community.
However and very unfortunately, the issue was misdirected by certain political movements in the Dominion to suit their own ends. Whilst deplorable, Her Majesty's Government of the Dominion of Dagomba does not believe that it will have any lasting effects and elections shall be called on time at the end of the term of the current legislature, and shall not be forced through shady means by some dissatisfied at their poor performance at the polls.
Her Majesty's Government of the Kingdom of Suionia may rest assured of the continued support of Her Majesty's Government of the Dominion of Dagomba in both peace and war, owing to the ties of history and brotherhood that tie our nations.
