Subject: MARITIME BOUNDARY EXTENSION

His Majesty's Government and Royal Navy are deeply concerned by the announcement of the extension of the maritime boundary of the Færøerne islands to 300 nm. While Breotonia has the friendliest of relationships with Danmark and desires nothing but prosperous cooperation and peace between our two nations, this extension is illegal under both Breotish law and international practice. We must insist, as commanded by the Mantle, that a reduction of this proposed boundary occur that proposes a territorial boundary of no more than 12 nm and an exclusive economic boundary extending no more than 200 nm. Attempt to enforce boundaries of any greater distance will necessarily result in action, perhaps forceful action, by the Royal Navy to protect the interests of parties that are the threatened by the Danish authorities. We are prepared to discuss this issue further with representatives of your government or military should that be your desire.

IN BRIEF

»The Danish government welcomes the announcement by the Kyivan Tsentralna Rada to ease visa restrictions on Danish and Germanian Leaguer travel to the country following extensive efforts by the government to build relations with its near-neighbour. The Danes had already announced largely unrestricted travel to Danmark by Kyivan nationals. Foreign Minister Westerveld called the announcement 'significant' and indicative of a 'thaw in Danish and Germanian League relations with Kyiv'. The Foreign Minister went on to say that he hoped that the latest step would lead to closer relations and that he hoped that the Kyivan-Weisan impasse would be resolved.

»Danske Forsvarsministeriet (Danish Defence Ministry) states that the 300 nautical mile defensive extension around the Færøerne islands is intended to be a temporary measure in response to 'uncertainties surrounding maritime security in absence of a binding multilateral agreement on such issues'. 'We have most reluctantly been drawn to take non-aggressive precautionary measures until a lasting accord can be found' and that 'in uncertain times, extensive measures are required' the ministry went on to say. The extension is not expected to interfere in merchant activities or non-aggressive military activities of other countries. However, a 300 nautical mile EEZ is expected to remain in place to assist Færøerne fishermen.

»Fourth in line to the Danish throne, HKH Prince Christian, is expected to accompany his brother, Crown Prince Sweyn, to the Havenist Princess Rebecca's ball in Franken. Sources indicate that this was at the expressed wish of Prince Christian, regarded as the 'stud' of the royal family by the Danish tabloids.

»The Foreign Office has indicated that it will refuse to be drawn into the increasingly heated tensions between Boliatur and Wasatch. In an announcement, it said 'Danmark has ties to both countries and it is not in our interests to take sides in issues that can be solved between their respective governments'.

The Duchies of Turin and Venosa would be more than happy to work with Danish businesses in regards. An offer in line with the proposal form can be seen below.

Company name: The Duchy of Turin; The Duchy of Venosa
Country of origin: Grand Duchy of Potenza
Date of offer: March 16, 2012
Details of offer: The Duchies of Turin and Venosa, with cooperation from interested companies such as the Danish Danolie Smba og Cisalpinske Smba Konsortium, would like to offer an extension of the pipeline into Potenza herself, through our respective duchies. It could be built within or across the Potenzan Sea and then through the Duchy of Turin, southward through the Duchy of Venosa. It would provide oil supplies to Potenza herself, as well as offer business prospects for those within the Germanic league.
Additional comments: Although not official "companies," the duchies would be able to facilitate resources at hand within our sphere of influence, including Potenzan construction companies and local labor.

King and Queen on state visit to Midgaard
You must be registered for see images

King Hans Gustav III and Queen Birgitte being recieved in Alsvik

Their Majesties the King and Queen began a three-day state visit to the Danish Commonwealth realm of Midgaard yesterday for the first time in five years and in what is likely the last visit by the monarch before his abdication in favour of Crown Prince Sweyn.

Arriving in the capital Alsvik as King and Queen of Midgaard, the royal couple were met by important dignatories including the newly elected Lawspeaker of the Migaardic Althingvy (parliament) Hr. Erik Thorvaldsson before making a grand state entry into the centre of the capital in a state procession as their majesties were driven through the streets in the horse-drawn 19th century Midgaards Statsvogn (Midgaard State Coach) accompanied by massed ranks of royal guards and heralds in the Danish tradition of Midgaardic pomp. Expecting it to be the last visit by the current head of state, crowds were much larger than expected in order to catch a glimpse and greet the monarch.

Originally settled by the Danskefolk in the 8th century and part of the Danish kingdom for centuries, Midgaard declared state sovereignty as a constitutional monarchy in the 1950's, adopting the name Midgard (Danes still call it Midgaard), in a peaceful separation following several years of a growing self-determination movement. The new state continued to show a strong attachment to the ever-popular monarchy as a historical and tangible link to Danmark and retained it. Following the separation, Midgaard came to be known as a Danske Statssamfundrige (Danish Commonwealth Realm) with the King of Danmark being simultaneously the King of Midgard. Relations between the two countries continue to be strong and peaceful and fellow citizens generally are mutually popular.

The King spoke of his happiness at being back in Midgaard and said he was touched by the "poignant" welcome. At a state banquet commenced by the dazzling baroque splendour of royal state trumpet fanfares and national anthems, the king spoke of the historical ties linking the two nations: "Speaking to you as your sovereign, it is transparent that our peoples are linked together by indivisible mutual bonds, common heritage, and the successes and trials of generations which has run through us all like a golden thread for over a millennium". He also paid tribute to the people and that he wished the country well as it charts its course in modern Europe: "Midgard has come of age and is beginning another chapter of its journey as it seeks to explore uncharted horizons which will, naturally, be successes mixed with challenges- but sic vita est. I wish the people of Midgard success and prosperity and however the course of history unfolds one thing is certain: Midgard will always have the fraternal bond with the Danes throughout Europe and as a valued member of the Commonwealth".

OTHER HEADLINES

Danish military personnel alongside representatives from Cantignia have been present in western Kyiv as official observers to its large-scale 'Western Bulwark II' military exercises. The Foreign Office has generally welcomed the invite as 'an important and positive indication of the desire of Kyiv to foster transparency in its dealings with Danmark and wider Germania' and that 'it is our sincere hope that other areas can be explored to convert this into more widespread and all-encompassing relationship of peace and prosperity between Kyiv and Germania'.

Foreign Office reportedly discusses the option of holding talks with states in the Great Sea to strike a deal on maritime security and policing as a 'joint responsibility'. A similar arrangement would apply to the Long Sea. Foremost in joint Great Sea security would be Breotonia and Europaland, the reports suggest.

DULWICH, SATURDAY, 24th MARCH 2012

The Right Honourable The Secretary of State has received the Command of her Imperial and Royal Engellexic Majesty The Queen-Empress
to make known the following gracious Statement of her Imperial and Royal Engellexic Majesty
to the King, and Lordships of the Kingdom of Danmark.

An Extension of The Queen-Empress' Statement in Council.

TO THE KING, AND LORDSHIPS OF THE KINGDOM OF DANMARK
I am instructed to EXPRESS on behalf of her Imperial and Royal Engellexic Majesty;

That neither her Majesty or the Cabinet of Ministers has yet been informed of the intent of the Germanic League to reverse the policy obstructing regional projects between Preuti and Borussia.

Enthusiasm for a Germanic League sponsored pipeline expansion in to Preuti has been curiously misplaced within the imperial metropolis.

It is hoped appreciation may be found for the inability of Imperial Ministries of the Empire to muster confidence in such an industrious endeavour when one observes the manner in which the sponsors have sought to bring about the reality of this ambitious project.

By the Grace of GOD, of the EMPIRE of GREAT ENGELLEX, CHARLOTTE, the QUEEN-EMPRESS, through the SECRETARY of STATE, his Grace the DUKE of NONSUCH

IN BRIEF

»The Danish government announces it is due to conduct independent military exercises to familiarise army personnel with its recently-purchased Kyivan hardware. However, these are not expected to be large-scale. The Defence Ministry also announced that missiles will be moved to Danmark's north-west and to the Færøerne islands. Separate exercises are duly expected to be played out in Danish Implaria and defences will be increased in the island archipelago.

»HKH The Crown Prince visits Montelimar refugee camps in the north-west of Danmark. He met with ordinary people and was informed of their plight. One Montelimarian said "We love Danmark and all it has done to help us against Engellex's imperialist aggression, and we adore the Crown Prince for taking time to visit us here. He is a gracious man and will do Danmark proud."

»The Christiansborg Summit on Montelimar is "hitting the buffers" according to one source in the Foreign Ministry due to government changes in Gt. Engellex. The Ministry has stated that it will continue to proceed to secure a long-lasting and agreeable peace but that the indications from Dulwich are "not promising". Despite this, the Foreign Ministry is hopeful that the new government in Engellex will "act in good faith" in the summit but that if this was not the transpire "Danmark would be neccesarily compelled to re-explore relations" with Gt. Engellex.

»Social Democrat leader, Johannes Christoffersen, indicates that it is not in Danish interests to become "sucked into the sphere of Wiese" in Germanian relations and must plough its own independent course within the Germanian League. Critics cite the SD leader as pandering to populist and historical mistrust of Wiese emanating from its days under the Holy Germanian Empire to solicit votes as the Social Democrats increase their poll lead over the incumbent Liberal-Agrarian Coalition government.

MILITARY NEWS

»Danish Crown forces, represented by the Skagerrak infantry batallion, Dronning Magdalene Regiment, composed of 750 personnel, and the Maskiningeniøren Armékorps (Mechanical Engineers Corps) joined together with Eiffellandian and Wiesan forces in the annual THOR military simulations in Wiese, the first joint collaboration of land forces within the League. The Defence Ministry said that the exercises, quickly following separate exercises within Danmark, gave an ideal opportunity to test out its own military capabilities and training in a small token force alongside League partners as per Danish commitments to the League's Security Treaty but added that Danish forces would not be expected to be drawn into any conflicts in the near future in Near Germania.

»The Kongelige Danske Marine is to establish a new naval fleet which is to be based and operate from Midgaard, the Midgaards Flåde. The Defence Ministry is expected to announce full details of the numbers of naval personnel and the size of the fleet in the coming days as Phase II of the Ministry's Defence Strategy is announced. Sources indicate that Phase II will see a significant increase in military spending and "greater muscle" across all arms of the military and is likely to see the country become the second military power in the Germanian League after the Wieser Empire.

»Indications are that the temporary 300 nm military extension around the Færøerne islands is to be lifted following high-level talks with the Breotish government ahead of a formal signing of an anticipated mutual non-aggression treaty following intensive bilateral talks. The talks also revealed that joint naval exercises by the Kongelige Danske Marine and Breotish Royal Navy are to take place in the Great Sea to ensure mutual commitments to maritime security.

COMPENDIUM

»Phase II of the government's overhaul of the Danish military was announced today. Building upon Phase I, the government stated the Danes would be expected to meet 'domestic and extra-territorial commitments and long-term agendas'. Under Phase II, military reservists will be increased from 168,000 to at least 184,000 with room for flexibility with the military expanding recruitment and training of volunteer reservists. Tank numbers, already increased by the Kyivan procurement, will see expected numbers in the region of 2,790 though the government said that this was open to 'expansion'. The airforce is not likely to see expansion at this stage as it 'already met requirements' though future increases would be based upon changes in foreign policy and external threat. It is currently the largest airforce in the Germanian League based upon current figures with 4,500 aircraft.

Naval security is expected to see an increase in destroyer vessels from 38 to 58, frigates from 32 to 53, submarines from 9 to 15, and nuclear submarines from 18 to 25, though the number of aircraft carriers is unchanged remaining at 8. In addition, the government announced that Danmark would play a much more concerted naval role working with other maritime nations, as it operates from the Danish homeland as well as Eiffelland and Franken. Protection of the Holy See has also been a considered option.

The government announced that Phase III will be announced shortly but the Danish Forsvarsminister (Defence Minister) Dr Georg Schnéevoigt stated that the Danes would meet all all their obligations and "do all they could in the best interests of Germania". He went on: "that is our lietmotif, we will do whatever is necessary to protect Germania but we will not indulge in petty national aggrandissement. If it means reaching out to apparently unlikely neighbours, so be it. We have the best interests of Germania at heart and will do all we can to work for the best interests of Germania and not allow it to be derailed by myopic distortions and paranoid sentiments. However, we also will fulfill other obligations, not only our own, but also a greater and all-encompassing security. We fully intend to play a full and active role in that and if that means taking difficult decisions, so be it."

»The Danish economy grew by 1.8% in the current financial year exceeding forecasts, partly due to an expansion in the military sphere. The Danish Chamber of Commerce is confident that the economy is in 'positive territory'. The Chamber has also lobbied the government for greater trade links to Kyiv which, it argues, is in line with the government's policy to diversify trade. The head of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, Lars Schmidt, said that although trade with Germanian League partners was strong it was better not to "put all the Danish eggs in one basket" in the long term and that it was an indication of economic health and confidence that "it was imperative that alternative trade sources be scoured for potential, including Kyiv and deepening relations to the East". "I see a new era for the Danes and a new confidence at that", he went on to claim.

»The Foreign Office states that ultimate decisions over national maritime security in Midgaard are a 'matter for their own government' but that the Danes would 'fully honour existing commitments'. It also urged Götarike to 'respect the historical and contemporary reality in Dano-Midgaardic relations'. 'Whatever the current policies of our esteemed Scanian friends, they must recognise the history of Danmark and Midgaard and we call upon them to temper their position. Even so, we will not subjugate ourselves, let that be clear".

»Foreign Office officials indicate a willingness to support Boliatur and that they have urged for talks with the Bolitaurian government. Indications are that the Danes will offer military advice to the Bolitaurians and that they are seeking a meeting with their Europalandic opposite numbers.

King decorates Europe's leaders in Birthday Honours
  • Order of the Elephant bestowed on GL heads
  • Honours for Europaland, Kyiv and Engellex
Lars Kristian, Royal Correspondent
Christiansborg

In an unprecedented move to celebrate his 71st birthday, the King will be exercise his Royal Prerogative and decorate several of Europe's heads of state, Karlskrona Slot announced this afternoon.

It is the first time the monarch has exercised his personal discretion without government consultation for a number of years, a power which is reserved to him by historical right as The King's Gift.

The announcement of the King's Birthday Honours sees several European Heads of State bestowed with Danish orders of various ranks.

Foremost amongst them are those awarded the Order of the Elephant, which is the most supreme order, which has gone to the monarchs of the Germanian League countries, Arendaal and Breotonia, and to the presidents of Wendmark,
Polasciana, Europaland, Frescania, and the Law Giver of Midgaard.

The King of Eiffelland and King of Arendaal were also made Knights of
Regnum Danicum Magnum, the supreme chivalric order.

Other orders bestowed are:
  • Order of the Dannebrog (the second most supreme order) to the monarchs of Nicosia, Potenza, Altai, Hajr and Talemantros for services and friendship
  • The Gilded Sword of the High and Mighty King Jørgen the Great (the supreme military order) to the president of Kyiv for military prowess

  • Order of the Crimson Cloth (third highest supreme order) to the president of Karakhstan for friendship
  • Order of the Swan (fourth most supreme order but the highest one given to women) went to the Queen Empress of Engellex

Karacsiena

The political fall-out in neighbouring Polasciana over the state rail company Burov in the aftermath of the Dubrovka rail disaster may open up opportunities closer cooperation between Danish companies and Polasciana as it seeks to enhance its rail infrastructure, the Industry and Trade Minister has claimed
.

The scandal involves accusations that the Polascianan Transport Minister obstructed official investigations into the disaster which killed around 140 people and that she abused her position by granting a significant contract due to a personal relationship with the head of Burov and that she made significant financial gains from her time as minister.

Rikard Magnussen
, who led the initial industry talks with Polasciana earlier this year, says that he believes that there are some in the Karacsiena regime who are ready to "embrace" foreign investment and that the Danes stand in a good position due to good relations to negotiate contracts to upgrade the country's rail infrastructure which is showing sign of buckling and being insufficient to meet the country's needs in the modern century.

"We are open to negotiations if there are indications of a shift, but there are also internal political considerations that must be respected. However, with a significant rail construction industry, we have the expertise and the finances to be able to enter into suitable arrangements with our colleagues in Karacsiena", he stated.

Recent months have seen the two countries draw closer together with the relationship seeing a foreign policy shift in Karacsiena which has indicated a less isolationist stance and has shown indications of interest in the Germanian League with preliminary talks currently being held in the eastern Danish Rhine city of Aalborg.
Kyiv bomb blasts kill Wieser and Wendmarker diplomatsSvend Lokke
Kyiv

A massive subterranean bomb blast has destroyed the Wieser delegation in the Kyivan capital killing up to 20 diplomats. Amongst those killed is the Wendmarker
Ambassador, Rudolf Weissweiler, with the Wieser legate also likely killed.

News of the blast has sent ripples through Germanian League countries with Wendmark , Franken and Eiffelland closing their embassies with immediate effect and is likely to see a knock-on effect on GL-Kyivan relations. So far the Danes are the only GL country not to follow suit.

In Christiansborg, the Foreign Ministry has called in the Kyivan ambassador for consultations to ascertain the circumstances of the blast and the loss of life and deduce if any Danish personnel were involved in or unaccounted for in the blast.

The Royal Danish Embassy in Kyiv has recalled all its diplomats to the ambassadorial compound or asked them to return to their homes for safety but has not thus far followed its League counterparts in closing its embassy.

The Danish Statsminister and the Foreign Minister, speaking from the Maritime Conference in Touzen, have both sent condolences to their counterparts in Wiese and Wendmark and to the families of those killed or maimed, and to offer the use of the Danish embassy for consular business for the three countries between them and Kyiv, but there are no indications at this stage it will withdraw its own ambassador.

Henrik Westerveld, the Foreign Minister, said: "I will be seeking talks with my counterpart following the report of the talks held with the Kyivan ambassador to Danmark. We need to know who exactly was to blame for this horrific attack which is unacceptable and those responsible need to be brought to justice. But, first, we need to get the facts crystal clear".

The blast follows long-running tensions between Wiese and Kyiv which have heightened in recent weeks following mutual military exercises close to each others' borders.

Free State of Wendmark
Free State's Foreign Affairs Department

The following information posted in Den Danske Tidende is factually incorrect:

News of the blast has sent ripples through Germanian League countries with Wendmark and Franken recalling its ambassadors with immediate effect and is likely to see a knock-on effect on GL-Kyivan relations.

Indeed, owing to what we, for the time being, shall consider the criminal incompetence of Kievan law enforcement and security services, who have been unable to guarantee the security of Ambassador Rudolf Weissweiler and his staff members, there is no ambassador to withdraw. There are only the remains of Rudolf Weissweiler and members of his staff for repatriation to Wendmark, where they are to be given a proper burial. Wendmarker diplomatic and consular staff are being evacuated by a special operation of the Wendmarker Air Force as the Free State can no longer trust Kievan authorities with their security.

Whilst respecting the freedom of the press, the Free State's Foreign Affairs Department would nevertheless be grateful for the factual innumeracy to be corrected.

"On behalf of His Imperial Majesty's Council of Ministers, I would like to inform 'Den Danske Tidende' of the following incorrect statements made in their recent news publications:

Amongst those killed is the Wendmarker Ambassador, Rudolf Weissweiler, with the Wieser legate also likely killed.

"His Majesty's Envoy to Kiev, Mr. Peter Heidelberg, is confirmed to have perished in the preposterous attack upon the Imperial diplomatic mission in Kiev alongside with his Wendmarker counterpart, Mr. Rudolf Weissweiler. The loss of Mr. Heidelberg and Mr. Weissweiler along with many of their diplomatic staff is a sad incident and unfortunate example of criminal neglect by the responsible authorities in the nation of Kiev.

"The scandalous criminal neglect of the security of spaces beneath the legation in Kiev, in spaces unrelated to and not belonging to the legation, is an extremely unfortunate circumstance; the recent attack having occurred during a planned cultural exchange exposition aimed at improving the relations between the Kievan and German peoples shows that the local security authorities have had many reasons to facilitate the safeguarding and security of the diplomatic mission. It is unfortunate that a country so renowned for its security has totally failed at protecting what ought to be protected, and instead help murder all trust in its competence for that field.

"As it stands, the Reich has no envoy to withdraw, nor does it have a functional legation or consulate in the Kievan capital. However, the recent happening implores us to proceed to the complete withdrawal of our surviving diplomatic staff in Kiev, their families, as well as those who perished in their attack and their own families, to safeguard their security and ensure their safety. The status of the current building used by the legation is uncertain, though the upcoming government will decide details concerning the legation's presence and exact location, if applicable."

COMMUNIQUE:

Foreign Affairs Department, Free State of Wendmark
Imperial Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Wieser Empire,

As already declared by the Statsminister of the Kingdom of the Danes and by the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Danes, we reiterate our condolences to the family of the Ambassador of the Free State of Wendmark to the Republic of Kyiv, Herr
Rudolf Weissweiler, and to the families of the deceased and maimed diplomatic personnel of the Free State.

Upon the announcement of the death of the Imperial Envoy to the Republic of Kyiv, Herr Peter Heidelberg, and the personnel of the Imperial Legation of the Wieser Empire to the Republic of Kyiv, the Statsminster of the Kingdom of the Danes and the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of the Danes reiterate and also send anewed condolences to the families of the deceased and maimed diplomatic personnel of the Imperial Legation.

As already expressed in separate statements from both the Statsminster and the Foreign Minister, the death of diplomatic personnel is an abominable atrocity. The Kingdom has indicated its disapproval of the said calamitous events and has requested an immediate meeting with the ambassador the Republic of Kyiv to the Kingdom of Danmark to express our outrage at the events, to demand the full course of the due process of justice be instigated against the perpetrators of this atrocity, and also to request details of the event that has effected two of our country's close allies with dire effects upon the relationship between the Germanian League as an entity and the Republic of Kyiv.

As expressed in the Danish press and communicated to respective Embassies of the Germanian League, the Kingdom of Danmark will await the full details of the events before making final decisions on the fate of His Majesty's Danic Embassy to the Republic of Kyiv.

At this stage, the Kingdom will not close the His Majesty's Embassy to the Republic of Kyiv.

As also expressed, and indicated through the Danish press, the Kingdom is open to avail of its services to the countries of the Germanian League that have closed down their respective embassies to the Republic of Kyiv.

On the issue of correction of the news article in Den Danske Tidende, we are of the understanding that this is not the prerogative of the government of the Kingdom. Danmark operates a free press and although every article may not reflect concrete accuracy, it is the responsibility of the free press to correct any perceived or genuine inaccuracy in its reporting of news and current affairs.

Representatives of the Danish Foreign Ministry have contacted officials of Den Danske Tidende regarding the concerns drawn to our attention and we have been assured that the high standards of responsible and accurate reporting and journalism have been adhered to.

At the time of publication, the death of the Imperial Legate of the Wieser Empire was not officially confirmed and from examination of the official press of the Wieser Empire, this was similarly confirmed.

Respect and condolences,

Westerveld requests urgent Kyiv talks

  • Concerns over collapse in GL-Kyiv relations
  • Danes in mission to assist the Germanian League
Magda Steinn, Chief Political Correspondent
Christiansborg

The Danish Foreign Minister, Henrik Westerveld, has cut short his attendance at the international Maritime Summit in Touzen to return home calling for an urgent meeting with the Kyiv government and calm growing tensions.

The move comes following a massive explosion which destroyed the complex housing the Wieser Legation to Kyiv killing its legate, the ambassador of Wendmark, and killing and maiming scores of other people.

Speaking from Touzen, the Foreign Minister expressed his shock at the news and expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of the dead diplomats and others
.
The Danish representation later temporarily withdrew from the Touzen Summit and held a minute's silence.

Speaking at an urgently convened press conference held at the Danish embassy in Touzen, the Foreign Minister expressed his shock at the news.

"I am profoundly devastated at the deaths of two of my close colleagues and the deaths and injuries caused to so many other people. The Statsminister of Danmark and I have communicated our sympathies and commiserations to the grieving families of those involved in this shocking event [and] send my strongest condemnation at those who committed this atrocity. Whoever is responsible for this act deserves the full force of law".

In the press conference, he also announced his intentions to return to Christiansborg as soon as possible and said that he would be requesting a meeting with the Kyivan Foreign Minister,
Vyacheslav Kozel, as well as meeting other GL foreign ministers and meeting the Danish ambassador to Kyiv.

The announcement of Westerveld's return to Christiansborg comes amid mounting tensions and Danish fears of a collapse in relations between the Germanian League and Kyiv following the news that several GL nations have recalled their ambassadors, withdrawn representation, or downgraded their representation to Kyiv. Eiffelland which initially announced that it would close it embassy later reversed the decision and opted for reduced representation.

So far, the Danes have still not indicated that they will close the embassy or down-grade its diplomatic presence in Kyiv.

The announcement that the Foreign Minister is seeking talks with his Kyivan counterpart is being seen as a concerted attempt by Danmark to rescue League relations with Kyiv, widely recognised as Europe's superpower, and fill a political vacuum and provide leadership.

There has been a glasnost in relations between Danmark and Kyiv with the Danes signing a military procurement deal with the Slav super-power and engaging in bilateral agreements as well as a concerted effort to to improve Germanian League relations with Kyiv.

The latest annoucement is also seen as an effort to not allow bilateral GL-Kyiv relations be derailed and to serve the Germanian League in a unilateral capacity.

Some have also suggested it will placate some Danish politicians who suggest that the country has lagged behind others in promoting Germanian League issues and that it is time for the Danes to take a lead and to move away from Wieser sabre-rattling.

There has been criticism that the GL affairs are led by the Wieser Empire, even overshadowing Franken, but this has been dismissed as "untrue".

"The GL is a union of equals", said Westerveld.

Henrik Westerveld speaking in after news of the Kyiv explosion
Den Danske Tidende Kyiv reporting criticised by Wendmark and Wiese foreign ministries
by Torsten Schmeichel

The news reportage of Den Danske Tidende has come under stinging criticism by the foreign ministries of Wendmark and Wiese in its coverage of the Kyiv bomb blast.

The criticism came following coverage of the Kyiv bomb blast that destroyed the Wieser legation and killing the Wieser and Wendmarker representatives to Kyiv by this newspaper .

The Foreign Ministries of the two countries pointed out factual inaccuracies in the reporting of Den Danske Tidende regarding the reporting of events surrounding the Kyiv bomb explosion.

In a statement, the editor of this newspaper, Erik
Overgaard, stated that he regretted any inaccuracies and offence caused to those involved. He went on to say:

"Den Danske Tidende, the oldest newspaper in Danmark having an almost 300 years worth of history, has a long tradition in accurate reportage of news and current affairs. Due to the swift passage unfolding events, it is not always possible to be absolutely accurate in reporting at the time of going to press or the updating of Den Danske Tidende's website. However, Den Danske Tidende strives to responsible journalism and any inaccuracies due to the swift passage of events, the newspaper endeavours to completely represent".

The criticism of Den Danske Tidende's news coverage prompted the Foreign Ministry to issue a communique to the the foreign ministries regarding their criticism of inaccuracies in reporting.

The Foreign Ministry stated that it was not the responsibility of the government to correct perceived or real inaccuracies and that was the sole preserve of a free press.

However, the Foreign Ministry also announced that, following discussions with the editorial board of Den Danske Tidende, that it was satisfied that all steps had been taken to accurate cover news events.

Thus far, there has been no comment from the foreign ministries of Wendmark and Wiese at the time of publication.

Re-enactment of the Berserker landings draws large crowds

by Per Lind
Fredrikshavn

The re-enactment of the original Berserker viking warrior landings in mainland Danmark drew huge crowds today as the festivities took place near to the port city of Fredrikshavn.

The two-day festivities began with replica longboats and members of the Beserker Historical Society dressed the part in viking 'horn helmets', with some even growing stereotypical Viking beards for occaison.

The festivities are to commemorate the landing of the first settlers on mainland Danmark in AD 755. Their landing on the shores began the process of the establishment of the Danish nation, commonly referred to by historians as the 'Danish Diaspora', as they left the Scanian homelands in the eighth century.

According to historians, the Danes were a seafaring Scanian people that left the homelands now occupied by such countries as modern-day Arendaal and Gotarike to seek new homelands. They eventually settled in Midgaard, Faeroerne, and mainland Danmark.

The Danish nation is the second oldest Scanian nation only pre-dated in origin by Arendaal, and the only one not to have come under the Empire of Arendaal, its individual trajectory seeing it coming under the scope of the Holy Germanic Empire for 300 years.
Rumours of romance between the Crown Prince and Wieser princess
Lotte Flensgaard
Franken

Reports suggest that Crown Prince Sweyn may be entering a relationship with the Wieser Princess of Schaumberg.

The Crown Prince who is currently attending the Sixteenth Birthday ball of HRH Princess Rebecca of Havenshire in Franken, is reportedly showing signs of interest in the Schaumberger princess following reports that the two have been seen to be on amicable terms.

The Crown Prince, soon to be crowned King of the Danes, has hitherto avoided relationships and had been steadfast in his focus on affairs of state, though their have been tabloid press rumours that the the Crown Prince is homosexual, accusations which have been consistently denied by Karlskrona Slot.

The birthday celebration ball has been hosted in Franken for the heir of the Havenshire throne and preceded over by her uncle, Samuel Garland.

Havenshire is currently governed by a council-communist government which deposed the monarchy, though there are indications of concerted attempts by Prince Samuel to secure the restoration of the Havenite throne.

The reports are from observers at the largely off-limits gala, that have reportedly seen the Crown Prince seated beside the Wieser princess. The news of a possible romance has sent many sections of the press and the Danish public into a flurry of speculation.

The Crown Prince has yet to follow his younger brother, Prince Lauritz, who is already married to Princess Ingeborg and has two children, the royal twins HH Prince Torsten and HH Princess Dagmar.

Also attending the coming-of-age ball is HKH Prince Christian. Spoken about a lot in press gossip columns and highly regarded by the public, earning the soubriquet of a Plyndringar (pillager) of women, with a rumoured five illegitimate children.

The belated-attendance of Prince Christian at the ball rose eyebrows in some circles as the ball had been believed to be a largely high-state affair.

Prince Christian is widely admired for his rakish character as personifying a modern incarnation of the old-fashioned ideals of Viking masculinity though some believe he lets the much revered monarchy down by his behaviour.

Aircraft carrier to be deployed to Midgaard

Storre Kong Jørgen (Great King Jørgen), one of the aircraft carriers of the Kongelige Danske Marine

Danske Forsvarsministeriet has announced that it will deploy the aircraft carrier Storre Kong Jørgen as part of its defence commitment to the Danish Commonwealth realm of Midgaard.

The announcement comes following a security agreement between Danmark and the Danske Statssamfundrige (Danish Commonwealth Realm) of Midgaard in which Danmark will provide naval security.

The two nations have long standing historic ties, with Midgaard being one of the territories being settled by the Danskefolk in the 8th century.

News that the neighbouring Scanian kingdom of Gotarike has attempted to pressure Midgaard to accepting it into its sphere of influence have been met with mixed reactions with some recognising geopolitical realities. However, there is annoyance at the government of Gotarike, criticised for arrogance and a blase attitude to history and disrespect for the sovereignty of Midgaard, instead promoting its own self-interest.

"Gotarike needs to get off its high-horse and recognise the historical millennium-old blood links between Danes and the Midgaardic. Failure to do so is a supreme display of comprehensive myopic statescraft", said the Vice Statsminister of Danmark, Svend Fulk.

He went on to say in his characteristic and inimitable style: "And another thing, if Gotarike thinks it can swan about with a high-faluting style with its head firmly positioned up its rectum thinking it speaks for all of Scania, it can think again. Whilst the Danes were a nation, Gotarike was still at the stage of a national primeval swamp".

The Office of the Statsminister would not be drawn on the comments of the Vice Statsminister and referred questions to the Office of the Vice Statsminister which itself would not be drawn on the comments.

Free State of Wendmark
Free State's Foreign Affairs Department

The Free State's Foreign Affairs Department commends the editorial board of Den Danske Tidende for the speedy and efficient correction of factual inaccuracies. There is a worry that the earlier missive of the Foreign Affairs Department has been construed as either a menace or harsh criticism of the editorial board. Such is not the case, as during this major event for Wendmarker foreign policy, the Free State has a vested interest in ensuring that Wendmark's moves on the international arena are reported accurately so as that the facts on the ground are not misconstrued into something entirely unintended. The Foreign Affairs Department is confident that Den Danske Tidende, as one of Europe's leading editorials and one certainly subscribed to by default by the Foreign Affairs Department, shall continue to grace us all with her high standards of journalism and event reporting.

Free State of Wendmark
Free State's Foreign Affairs Department

The Free State of Wendmark shall follow closely the visit by Henrik Westerveld, His Excellency the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Kingdom of Danmark, to Kiev and shall be interested in whatever results shall be attained during this visit. In the meantime, the Free State can confirm that Wendmark has asked those Germanian countries still with functioning representations in Kiev (such being Danmark and in a lesser capacity Eiffelland) to cater for the consular needs of Wendmarker nationals that may be living or working in Kiev and that chose to stay in the country.

Imperial Ministry for Foreign Affairs

"His Imperial Majesty the Emperor, His Excellency the Imperial Chancellor and the Imperial Ministry for Foreign Affairs shall be closely watching the well-intended initiative by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Danes Mr. H. Westerveld in light of its interest for the continued maintenance of peace and prosperity in the greater Germania proper, which in part can only be achieved through positive and constructive relations with the Kievan regime. It is our hope that the His Danish Majesty's Government shall act in accordance to the principles of good neighbouring, friendship and the spirit of the diplomatic and military bond that connects the Reich and the Kingdom of the Danes.

"It is our hope however, and the hope of the families of the victims of this atrocious attack, that condemnations are not limited towards those who conducted the attack but also those who allowed it to happen. The government of the state of Kiev has, unfortunately, yet to release the slightest information on how did its famous security services allow an attack of such a massive scale to be organised undetected and not be engaged. It is our hope and trust that the Kievan government will deliver justice not only to those criminals that committed this atrocious crime, but also to those criminals that allowed it to be committed through neglect, deliberation, or otherwise.

"In light of the recent election, the new Council of Ministers of the Reich under Prince Schwarzenberg shall be addressing this situation with more formality the coming days."

Regards,
Heinrich Maximilian

Dano-Breotish pact signed

  • Non-Aggression Pact and mutual defence treaty signed
  • Procurement of Shaw-Fujikawa weaponry

Magda Steinn, Chief Political Correspondent
Lunden, Breotonia

Danmark and Breotonia have concluded months of intensive negotiations with the signing of a wide-ranging mutual non-aggression and mutual defence pact in a ceremony held in the Breotish capital.

The
comprehensive agreements enshrine a significant meeting of minds on bilateral relations and with a focus on regional security and mutual cooperation on wider issues.

Also significant in the treaty is the option of an open-ended agreement opening the door to Danish procurement of Shaw-Fujikawa weapons systems and Breotish naval and air technology for which the Danish government had been actively lobbying as part of its Phase II military restructuring initiative.

Christiansborg, although having strong long-standing and friendly relations with Lunden, entered into formal talks with Lunden following Breotish concerns over the Danish declaration of a 300 nm exclusion
military and economic zone around the Danish island archipelago of Færøerne (initiated due to Danish maritime security concerns) to formally cement ties.

The Defence Minister, Dr Georg Schnéevoigt, who signed the ageement, claimed that the pact was a a guarantor of peace and open-door cooperation:
"We have sealed a deal of significance that has important implications on our relations with a naval superpower and upon wider objectives. I look forward to working with my counterparts of the great nation of Breotonia in the years to come. The coming together of Danmark and Breotonia is a supreme demonstration of the miracle of cooperation and friendship and an example to others".

The pact has wide regional security and foreign implications and is being seen as part of a long-term comprehensive joint multilateralist Danish foreign and defence policy with stronger liaison and strategic cooperation, which Christiansborg has become increasingly keen on promoting and strenghening.

However, not all politicians have welcomed the move, especially over the procurement of Shaw-Fujikawa weapons. Many have pointed to concerns about the violation of Danish airspace in a 288-strong missile attack that destroyed large areas of the Wieserreich capital of Augsburg. This issue has seen increased intensity with the publication by the Wieserreich government of allegations of direct links between Shaw-Fujikawa and the missile attacks.

The Danish government has so far refused to comment on the report.

Nationalists see surge of support gaining 5 seats in local elections

Henrik Carlsen, one of five nationalists elected to the Folkehuset

by L.P. Lommersgaard

Danish nationalists have won five seats in Folkehuset elections bringing their total number to 25, the highest number for 30 years, following a growth in support for nationalist parties.

Bi-elections for the lower chamber of the Folkehuset saw the seats claimed by an assortment of nationalist parties which have so far remained divided but analysts believe that the parties may seek to form an umbrella group to advocate their objectives.

Opinion polls have seen a rise in Danish nationalism reaching a high of 14% of the electorate. The ebbing away of the years of the severe recession that gripped the economy had led many to believe that nationalism had begun to recede, a fact supported by numerous polls.

However, the last year has seen an upsurge of strengthening nationalism spurred on by a mix of new factors. Notably accession to the Germanian League, which has seen a rise in traditional Germanophobia, as many Danes feel resentment at their government for 'selling out' to German states; rising economic confidence and growth, which has seen an increase in wholesale national self-confidence; and the impending coronation of Crown Prince Sweyn which has led to an intense national pride and 'coming together', have all been contributory factors.

Margrethe Folmested, of the current affairs journal
Øre, said that the electoral success of the nationalists was a natural consequence of a drift towards pro-Dane sentiment and a strong national identity.

"The Danes are a very stubborn and individualistic people with a keen sense of their own history and traditions. Many, although benefiting from engagement with the League, haven't got over their historical antipathies which taps into a wider psyche which is deep rooted - Danes surrounded by Germans".

Westerveld meets Kyivan leadership
Svend Lokke
Kyiv

Foreign Minister Westerveld has attended talks with senior members of the Kyivan State Defense Council in the aftermath of the huge terrorist bomb explosion that obliterated the Wieserreich Legation complex.

In the first official visit by a high-ranking foreign government representative since the attack, the Foreign Minister visited the site of the former Wieserreich Legation to Kyiv to see for himself the scale of the devastation and was informed by Kyivan state authorities of the circumstances and background of the atrocity. He later laid a wreath and paid his respects at the site on behalf of the Danish government and the Germanian League.

The Foreign Minister later attended 7-hour long talks, which observers say at times were heated and frank, with members of the Kyivan State Defense Council to discuss the implications of the attack upon Germanian League and Kyivan relations which many believe to have been severely rocked.

In a press conference held at the Danish embassy, the Foreign Minister said that the talks had been "fruitful and positive".

"I raised our deep misgivings and objections over the atrocity against two of our allies and I called for the full force of law to be followed to bring the terrorists to justice. This atrocity was unacceptable and abhorrent and my sympathies lie with my colleagues in Wendmark and the Wieserreich".

However, the Foreign Minister later stated: "I am reassured that the Kyivan authorities will do everything in their power to uphold the principles of justice and we will support them in that endeavour".

Westerveld is also understood to have discussed how to re-orientate GL-Kyiv relations which have been severely hit following the attack.

"I believe that the way forward for peace and prosperity for the whole region requires a fresh thinking and it is important that we alternative ways to cooperate and draw a line under the past. It would be irresponsible to close doors to cooperation between the League-as-whole and Kyiv and my aim is to work as partners with Kyiv despite the abhorrent atrocity. We must not lose sight of the wood for the trees. My country is fully committed to fulfill a high-profile role and help assist the League in achieving that in order to achieve a new dawn in GL-Kyivan relations".

Naval and economic development agreement with Altai
by Bendt Lars Paersgaard

The Altaic and Danish governments have cemented a dual economic investment plan and naval agreement today.

In the agreement, part of a concerted Danish foreign policy initiative of engagement with Slav states, the Danes have agreed to structure a significant economic development portfolio amounting to $600m to assist the formerly war ravaged Altai in restructuring its economy following years of warfare and following welcoming signs under the aegis of Altaic Chancellor Karin.

As part of the deal, Danmark will sell one refurbished Kongelige Danske Marine cruiser, likely to be HDMS Frits Nobel, at a significantly reduced price. In return, the Kongelige Danske Marine will acquire rights to unrestricted access to the port of Dara alongside the Altaic National Fleet.

Following the agreement, the Kongelige Danske Marine announced it would be immediately despatching an assorted contingent of naval vessels including 24 destroyers and one aircraft carrier, the Kong Benedikt II, as part of Danish security policy to guarantee sea lanes and maritime shipping.

Potenza seals economic trade deal
by Marcus Montestad
San Salvo, Potenza

A bilateral trade deal has been sealed between San Salvo and Christiansborg in the first major
non-Germanian League deal for Danish commerce.

Potenzan
Economy and Finance Vincenzo Visco signed the trade agreement with his Danish counterpart Rikard Magnussen in the Potenzan capital.

The agreement will see a opening up of mutual markets and the establishment of reciprocal commercial zones for bilateral business and investment opportunities, with Danish commercial concerns acquiring prime position in Potenza and with
Danish businesses allowed the opportunity of cut-rate land purchases.

The agreement also sees the creation of a business commissioner responsible for arbitration in areas of commercial disputes.

In a surprise announcement, the Danish government offered the use of the Free Port of Fredrikshavn for the development of a blue-water merchant fleet to assist the land-locked state.

Trade, Investment and Industry Minister Magnussen hailed the trade agreement as being a "unique venture" and "emblematic of bilateral cooperation and the fostering of stronger economic potential".

This is a very provocative move by the Kingdom of Danmark in a region were tensions still run high and wounds still run deep. The sending of Danish warship into a heated area will only inflame the region after it so recently gotten out of a war between the resident states. We strongly urge Danmark to end the policy of sending naval assets to the region so that peace and status quo be maintained in the region. Due to the increase of naval activity by a third party nation, the Talemantine naval assets in the region will have its readiness heightened and will monitor all Danish war ships traveling in the region and near Zamoscan waters. also all Talemantine forces in Zamosca will have their alert status raised for the duration of Danish warships in the region. The Danish representative to the court of St. Horace will be summoned to the palace to answer for the actions of their government.
