Former King Hospitalized
Today Prince Joshua Ben-Malachi of Shiloh was once again taken to the King Ezra V Hospital as he collapsed following a garden party at the royal summer residence. Prince Joshua, formerly known as King Joshua V, abdicated the throne in favor of his young son in 1948. The 81 year old former monarch abdicated following the beginnings of dementia from his Alzheimer's Disease, for which he was diagnosed back in the early 40s. King Joshua V reigned from 1905-1948, which included some of the nation's most turbulent times in recent history from the social changes to the extreme political polarization that led to governmental gridlock to religious upheaval. During his long reign King Joshua became one of the only constants in Shilohan society and for that reason was very popular monarch.

Since abdicating the former monarch has kept a low profile while most of the royal duties are being handled by the former king's younger brother Prince Regent Elijah Ben-Malachi the Duke of Samaria, during the current king's minority. The years since the diagnosis the country has been part of the the king's long goodbye, and his health has steadily declined. The doctor's released a statement following the hospitalization and said that the former king was in good health.

Sanhedrin President Schedules No-Confidence Vote
Following disagreements between the Kadima-led majority and some of their coalition partners over some aspects of the platform, the Progressive Party broke with the coalition and joined the opposition. It is expected for the government to maintain a majority in the Sanhedrin, but this defection has broken the governing coalition's super majority, which is required to approve judicial appointees and ratify treaties. This could put a hamper on Chancellor Ephrayim Ben-Micah's goals and workings in the international community.

The more troubling rumors emanating are that some members of the junior coalition party of Hatnuah are also considering joining the coalition which could threaten Chancellor Ben-Micah's government. The current coalition has been in power for the past six years and the Chancellery has been working over the years to maintain a majority to avoid elections. If the remaining Kadima-Hatnuah government breaks this week the Regent will be forced to call elections, something that hasn't been called in over eight years.

Treasury Announces New Foreign Aid Loan Program
Today Treasurer Youssef Rosenberg announced the beginning of a new government program that would allow Shiloh to help in the reconstruction of other states. This program will allow the kingdom to use its present surplus to give out Aid Grants and Loans to other nations in an effort to help them recover economically.

"By helping other nations who have hit harder times or are beginning to rebuild their home, we also help ourselves. In uplifting our neighbors and friends we can create new markets for Shiloh's businesses and expand our economic success, not only for ourselves, but for those around the globe." Statement by Youssef Rosenberg, Treasurer of Shiloh.

With the passage of this program by the Sanhedrin, nations will be able to receive assistance in improving their economy. This initiative is not without its detractors, who argue that Shiloh should be spending its surplus at home. Opponents also state that the program may lead to deficit spending by the treasury and violating the Kingdom's balanced budget laws.
