FEATURE TITLE
An August Romance

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Bernard
Méthot

FEATURE CAST
Lilianne Perrault, Roderick Dosset

FEATURE DESCRIPTION:

Young Margaux is a Military Hospital Nurse during the August Catastrophe, inexperienced in the ways of the world and naive to men and the war they are fighting. When an injured Corporal Schommer arrives at the hospital in a coma she falls in love with her idea of who Corporal Schommer could be: brave, romantic, chivalrous. When Schommer awakes however he is a vastly different man: abusive, cynical, and manipulative of Margaux's expectations of love. As peacetime reaches Cantignia, Margaux's war to preserve her innocence from a possessive man begins.

OOC: This will be the third annual VIFF, the first one I've lost the link to but here was the second:
http://www.europe-game.eu/showthread.php?t=10651; then here were the winners: ; This is a fun little cultural diversion from regular world politics and conflict, and a good way to capture what people around the world are watching.

A thing that he is scared to think of, as a relationship between a white man and a black woman was so outlandish that some people though that even thinking of would be a sin. A coming-of-age story about the transformation of a naive boy into a mature man, all of those happening in the backdrop of a time of concern and fear, as Estria Nua ó Dheas becomes Garissa and Kamara's (Imamu Adnan) dictatorship begins.
FEATURE TITLE

The Snake's Tongue (Documentary)

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Sefu Samoei

FEATURE CAST
Jenerali Simba Kamara, Jenerali Kibwe Sesay, Caliph Cigaal bin-Ali el-Kader, Ayatollah Axamed Maslah

FEATURE DESCRIPTION:
An underground documentary made in late 1953, depicting a view of the realities of the Saraari society under the "Democratic Republic", especially under the rule of Jenerali Simba Kamara in the early days of the regime. The movie shows the main events taking place in Garissa, when Caliph Cigaal bin-Ali is killed by Kamara, and Ayatollah Maslah betrays the Muslims and allies with the military. The speeches shown in the motion picture show the great differences between the Kamarist rhetoric and the daily realities in the Saraari capital, showing how manipulative and deceptive a man can become to reach his goal, taking control of the state.

Based on actual events of the December Revolt (1909) this film is a testament to Valkany's world famous military cinematography and a true masterpiece. It follows the story of a young man named James Pinesvehn, a supporter of various revolutionary and anti-monrchy groups, his father George Pinesvehn, a Reserve Army Officer, Wolfwang Von Kriegswehr, an 19 year old Soldier and Elena Kriengerstof, a liberal college student. This film showcases both the historical events and personal stories of the December Revolt and reminds us of Valkany's most recent crisis, the January Revolt.

Grey

Feature Director
Rafl Saavtrofh

Feature Cast
Johann Stauffenberg
Saame Yunan
Petr Stavroforus

Feature Description
It's easier to see the world in black and white. But what do you do with grey? Our story takes place in the cosmopolitan city of Dimitrisburg in 1924, when valkany was essentially an Apartheid. Troops going door to door rounding up Muslims, Gypsies and other "unwanted" persons, deporting everyone they can and shooting anyone giving them trouble. And in this climate of racial tensions Saame, a young Muslim girl falls in love with Fritz, a young ethnic Valkanian. At the same time Ivan, an Internal Trooper, struggles with his actions as he is forced to destroy the lives of people every day for simply being born different. And while history may tell us that by the time the Apartheid in Valkany had fallen less than 2,000 non "pure" Valkanians remained in Valkany this tale of understanding and love teaches us that nobody is born to hate, but everyone is born to love.

FEATURE TITLE
Lucas

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Terrence Hillier

FEATURE CAST
Robert King AS Lucas, Sofia Westwood AS Lucas' Wife and John Miami AS Chief of the Chautauqua Nation.

FEATURE DESCRIPTION
Featuring the veteran Robert King as a vengeful Forest Ranger and starring for the first time a Native Sylvanian (Miami), Lucas is a historical piece that takes place at the start of the great wars between Sylvanian settlers and the Natives who at the time were being pushed out of their homeland slowly and surely. Lucas is a Forest Ranger, charged with keeping a lookout for Chautauqua raiding parties, he spends his time traversing the newly discovered Twin Echo mountains and keeping watch for the settlement of the same name. Taken hostage by Chautauqua hunters, Lucas is forced to watch as Twin Echo is burned to the ground by native warriors and the women, including his wife, are raped and murdered. Lucas is let go and sent east to tell the tale of the native victory at Twin Echo, Lucas instead rallies the survivors and the settlers of nearby towns into a citizen army and pushes back west to murder as many natives as they can. Lucas is praised for it's historical accuracy and for showing the grim realities of the start of the conflict between the major tribes of Sylvania and the growing Sylvanian Republic. John Miami has been the center of controversy for starring in what the last of his tribe, now living in Beautancus, consider to be a propaganda piece. Sylvanian movie reviewers have praised the film for its neutrality in the matter of the what is known to White Sylvanians as the Great Conflagration and to native peoples as the Rape of Chautauqua (Sylvania).

Kings of the streets

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Janez Gorenc

FEATURE CAST
Janez Gorenc

FEATURE DESCRIPTION:
The Haemian Straw is a national legend in Carentania, the national dog breed of the country. In this documentary, Janez Gorenc follows not only the lifes of the members of a pack of street dogs, but also explores the symbolism this half-wild breed of pariah dogs has achieved. How come that these proud and stubborn dogs, which have roamed human settlements in Haemia since antiquity, have a social status so fundamentally different from the way that street dogs are treated in the remainder of Europe? At the end, Janez Gorenc can offer no conclusive answers, but his travel offers a lot food for thought.

FEATURE TITLE
The Red Guard - Rain of death

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Gregor Turk

FEATURE CAST
Anton Kotnik, Mateja Pavlin, Aleksander Knez, Branko Zadravec

FEATURE DESCRIPTION:
The movie-adaption of the famous Carentanian novels about the RAI agent Janez Zver promise to bring a densely action packed thriller to the cinemas of Europe. Janez Zver has been sent to track down General Zhu Zhu of Imperial Yujin, responsible for countless massacres, and to bring him to justice. But there is more than meets the eye and when it becomes apparent that Zhu Zhu is but the minion of a bigger evil, Agent Zver needs all his cunning, courage and sex-appeal to save the world and socialism from imminent doom.

FEATURE TITLE
Little Brave Witch

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Marija Kotnik

FEATURE CAST
Marija Kotnik, Ana Kralj, Anja Kralj

FEATURE DESCRIPTION:
Another movie adaption of a famous Carentanian book series, the Little Brave Witch is an animated film about the adventures of the eponimous little witch who has to grow up in a world afraid of her powers and often openly hostile to someone, who is but a little girl born into unusual circumstances. The books are a longstanding favourite with the womens right movement and just like them, the book deals heavily with issues of feminine self-respect and consciousness. Its art is inspired by Touzen animation movies and Little Brave Witch promises to offer a never seen before fusion of the best of western and eastern movie traditions.

FEATURE TITLE
In Darkness Dwells

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Enestos Luconna

FEATURE CAST
Iccios Dannoscaleva, Galbos Helicosga, Rufos Mkanner (the black-Etnaean actor from "Wings Incorporeal" fame)

FEATURE DESCRIPTION
A biopic about Bolgios Gaesiga Isarnegenos, the original leader of the first Crown expedition to Dumnisigda. Though fraught with historical inaccuracies, the film nevertheless does detail his slow ascent higher and higher into the primordial jungles and uplands of that dark country, and his experiences with the natives for whom he'd later develop some fondness. The film exposes Gaesiga's own flaws and highlights his beliefs, dealing with the topic of the ideal of the "noble savage", and--while presenting it--thoroughly opposing the notion of the "white man's burden." An anti-colonialist work, it was originally banned during production, before being approved by independent Crown review and filming allowed to resume.

FEATURE TITLE
Conquering Aetnos

FEATURE DIRECTOR
Ollovos Macoleaga

FEATURE CAST
Dannicos & Maricos Matugenos, Roveca Segovita, Suicca Vornnaxa, & others

FEATURE DESCRIPTION
A tale about a class of school-children who make it their goal to climb Aetnos, the highest mountain of the Abaine ridge. The film details their preparation and their subsequent ascent, with tragedy unfolding as accidents and disputes between them slowly occur. The ending is known to upset some viewers, with the children all perishing despite eventually reaching the summit. When questioned, director Macoleaga stated that the film was "laden" with allegory, and that it shouldn't be taken in any way as simply a direct representation of the turmoil these children faced.
