The insurgency in the country had been light for the most part. There were areas that were known to cause trouble and where rebellious villages remained under the village elders. Most of the cities were considered secure with minor setbacks in the form of random acts of violence but the purges of the political elite with those more favorable to the Empire and the purging, and turning a blind eye to bribery and corruption of police forces that were loyal to the Empire had proved helpful.

Over the course of the occupation the invasion troops had rotated out with the permanent garrison that would call Maghreb home, reconstruction of facilities for the military as well as new construction for greater fortification and capacity were still on-going. The largest primary driver of reconstruction had always been bringing the oil production back online and destruction of the insurgent elements that remained thru brutal force.

Leadership had heard the reports of chemical weapons being used in Westernesse, the complete lack of care from the world showed it still did not have the resolve that had been promised long ago in the European Forum which had led to the Empire restarting its chemical program. Now it would be used here to a ferocious effect. Instead of jeopardizing the lives of more troops carrying out a raid on the village of Sukna, a shipment had arrived on a transport. Several pallets of 152mm rounds with special markings indicating a chemical compound had arrived on the makeshift runway at the 24th Combined Arms Army base.

The trucks rumbled across the desert under the darkness their headlights being towing their guns behind them with a small company of infantry to provide additional support around them. They began setting the guns and unloading ammunition, waiting for daybreak. Operation Gods Gas was about to commence. The sun began to break behind their back in the east. The fire order came in and the six guns began unleashing the package into the city, the barrel flashes lighting the barely lit sky. For 30 minutes the guns did not fall silent but for enough time to change the targetted area, with three hundred shells being fired into the boundaries of the village. When the guns fell silent, the troops just waited.

As the sun began to set, the infantry began proceeding into the village to evaluate the results. By the end of the night preliminary investigation had determined that over 90% of the village had become casualties whether dead, or wounded, the imperial troops simply rounded up the weapons and ammunition and would destroy it in the village center, a showing of why this happened and what continued resistance would look like.

Time would tell
