Aodh-Mór ''Emerald'' Cup
Organised by the Rugby Union of Ivernia

The annual rugby tournament, the prestigous Aodh-Mór Cup is soon to begin. The worlds greatest rugby clubs from around the world have qualified and will enter into a knockout tournament until one club stands to take home the Emerald Cup. This competition will begin in a matter of weeks and will be hosted within the High Kingdom of Ivernia.

The Tournament begins soon and no more applications will be accepted.

OOC: The Rugby Tournament in the same system as the Heineken Cup. Anybody can enter as many clubs as they wish (Probably around 3-4, depending on your nations population you could have more or less) and these clubs would have qualified by typically winning their own national league/tournament.

How will the games be played? It'll work on a randum number generator for fairness, but I haven't worked out how detailed I want it to be (Probably quite detailed).
Matches will be played on the weekends and I'll post the results in this thread (along with any in game information I might have). So enjoy all the sweet rugby action I hope to bring.

With no Rugby structure on a national level, the amateur team, Jorvik Rugbyklubb has been chosen to participate in this competition. If more teams are required, Kristiania RK and Nordjorvik RK also volunteer to participate.

Might be worth having a new Rugby Union logo, as that is the trademarked USA logo. I figure eventually the moderation will come down on that. Heh..

So after much working of a randomly generated rugby game left me quite puzzled. But I think I have a system set up, it's a little basic but it includes the largest parts of the game anyways.

Coin Flip to decide which team starts:

Team that wins coin flip enters Stage 1 with ball.

1. Run with ball:
Roll die.
1-2 opposition gains the ball (and enters Stage 1 with ball)
3-4 enter scrum
5-6 roll for try

2. If SCRUM is entered:
Roll die
1-3 opposition gains the ball
4-6 ball is maintained return to step 1.

3 [a]. If team achieves roll for TRY:
Roll die.
1-2 fail
3-6 TRY achieved +4 points

3 . NOTE: if a 2 roll is achieved re-roll.
5-6 becomes a ''Drop Goal'' +1 points.

4. If a TRY is achieved:
roll 1 die for conversion.
1-3 fail
4-6 conversion achieved +2 points

Team that scored TRY or drop kick, opposition enters phase 1 with ball.

15 total runs are made per ''match''.

Aodh-Mor Cup Saturday and Sunday Results are upcoming!

Aodh-Mór Cup Results!

Pool 1 - Alderbugh Rothín Road Stadium 1pm
Sat:
Nemedia Vs Fareoene DRK
Score: 0 - 14 Scrums: 7.
Notes: Fareoene came out strong and quick with two tries at the beginning and a strong defence throughout. Nemdia failed to make any opening into the second half of the pitch and lost soundly with poor offence. Fareoene adds a try with a conversion in the last third of the game to add insult to injury on Nemedia home soil.

Sun: Roskilde Majestæt DRK Vs Imavere RSB
Score: 20 - 12 Scrums: 4
Notes: Game started with a very slippery ball as both sides struggled to make any noticeable progress or distance. Roskilde Majestæt DRK managed to make a work of one run and gained a try before the second half, which was successfully converted. Imavere however came back in the second half like a bull and scored two tries, both with conversion straight away, and took the ball right off of R.M. DRK and went for a third try, however, unbelievably they completely missed the opportunity. R.M. DRK made sure to punish them with two more tries, both with conversion.

Pool 2 - Dawn University Stadium 1pm
Sat: Puerto Viejo Toros Vs 10th Continental Marine Regiment Rugby Team
Score 12 - 12 Scrums: 4
Notes: PVT and the 10th both came out with explosive beginnings, with both teams scoring trys with convos in the first moments of the game, but anyone who expected more of the fast scoring action would end up being disappointed as both sides defense woke up and stopped all tries from either side. In the last moments of the game both sides clearly became desperate and went all out offence, however this all-game mirror performance resulted in a try and convo for both sides in a exciting finish.

Sun: Ajaccio Pikemen Vs Loksa RSB
Score: 12 - 6 Scrums: 6
Notes:
A game of scrums. LRSB opened the game with a field goal, however the Pikemen came back with a try with conversion. LRSB immediately came back and earned a try, which put the teams square at 6-6. Next came 4 scrums in a row, with each team putting tremendous pressure on each other, desperate to break the equalizer. In the end it was LRSB who fell first, and the Pikemen used the oppertunity they worked tooth and nail for and won a try and conversion. After which it seemed both teams were totally spent as niether team made any noticable progress for the last parts of the match.

Pool 3 - Vedrarfjord MacSweeney Insurance Stadium 1pm

Sat: Milesia Vs Kuressaare RSB
Score: 10 - 8 Scrums: 5
Notes:
Milesia came in very early with a try and conversion, and KRSB managed to settle a try for 4 points to themselves, Milesia comes back to once more achieve the lead, moments before half time with another try. The second half was a very rough half, as 6 scrums in total occurred. Even though Milesia won every single scrum, they simply could not use the ball when they had it, and it was KSRB who actually achieved the only try of the round.

Sun: Vesper Metropolitans Vs Herediano Caballeros
Score: 20 - 2 Scrums: 5
Notes:
Vesper Metropolitans came out today and played pure rugby. In the opening minutes of the game Vesper accrued 2 try's both with conversions. With a 12 point lead the Vesper defence bucked down and held HC out of the Vesper half of the pitch for the entire half. In the second half HC brought Vesper to the crums more and more, and while they wons most scrums they could not finish, and Vesper made sure to punish with another try. Showing Herediano Caballeros unconquerable spirit, the team never once admitted defeat, and manages to score a field goal in the last part of the game. Vesper Metro was out for blood and finished the game with another try.

Pool 4 - Alderburgh Rothín Road Stadium 6pm
Sat: Occidental Tiburones VsCollershire RFC
Score: 4 - 14 Scrums: 5
Notes:
A very slow 1st half as both teams seemed unable to best the other. Occidental Tiburones seemed to have made some headway just at the end of the first half by winning two scrums in a row, but coming back from the break they seemed to have lost their fire. CRFC managed a try, then a try with a conversion to seal a huge 10 point lead late into the game. The match got exciting fast as OT came back with a try, but it was all too little too late. CRFC rubs salt into the wound with an end-game try.

Sun: Kristiana RK Vs Durham RFC
Score: 18 - 12 Scrums: 8
Notes:
Two very even sided teams butted heads today. While Kristiana RK opened the match with two identical tries and conversions, DRFC made sure it was known they were not out with a try and conversion, and later a field goal to close the gap. At the beginning of the second half Durham RFC scored a try and it was thought that DRFC would come out on top today, but KRK ended the dream with a try and convo midway through the second half, with a heavy defence keeping DRFC at bay until the whistle.

Pool 5 - Dawn University Stadium 6pm

Sat: First Haven Saints Vs New Dulwich Imperials
Score: 4 - 0 Scrums: 6
Notes:
These two anglo teams were expected to create an exciting match today, however the truth was a very slow defensive play from both sides. Heavy scrumming, 4 in a row right at the start seemed to tire out the teams. It was only at the end of the second half that we saw the New Dulwich Imperials almost get a Field Goal, which woke the First Haven Saints up enough to gain a try. It's believed the hype the two rivals caused pre-match lead to a slow defensive play today.

Sun: Formoria Vs Sankt Haagens Monstrumer DRK
Score 18 - 6 Scrums: 1
Notes:
A very very fast game indeed. Formoria came out fast with a try and conversion, and Sankt Haagens was close to a try, but a Formorian defense led them to take a safer field goal instead. Moments after the second half both teams exchanged trys and convos, and finally Formoria sealed it's victory with a final try just before the whistle. Suprising low number of scrums in this game but neither side was eager to be pegged down.

Pool 6 Vedrarfjord MacSweeney Insurance Stadium 6pm

Sat: University of Koper Vs Westhaven West, Industrial RFC

Score: 0 - 10 Scrums: 6
Notes:
Westhaven West, Industrial RFC came out today and scored a try with conversion almost immediately into this game which seemed to shatter Kopers spirit. Westhaven West however has still held back the rest of the half, as University of Koper put on the defence, but WW refused to give up the ball and kept the pressure on. In the second half there were few scrums to be had. University of Koper had a chance to score a field goal which might have put their heads back into the game but it was not to be. Westhaven West cleaned up with another try to finish the game.

Sun: Jorvik Rugbyklubb Vs Cazma Polytechnikum
Score: 4 -10 Scrums: 7
Notes:
A game that started off very rough, with four scrums one after the other, neither team was giving any quarter today. While Jorvik Rugbyklubb managed to hold the ball for most of the game and playing it's scrums very well, it could not use the ball it had. Cazma Polytechnikum on the other hand seemed to turn it's possesion into tries almost every time. A classic tale of it's not how much time on the ball you have, it's how well you use your time.

Aodh-Mór Cup Results!

Pool 1 -
Vedrarfjord MacSweeney Insurance Stadium 6pm
Sat:
Imavere RSB Vs Fareoene DRK
Score: 18 - 8 Scrums: 4
Imavere RSB and Fareoene DRK came out today with a furious attacking force, but with a pitiful defence as both teams landed tries with almost no resistance in the opening moments of the game. Fareoene however bit just a little bit harder and took 2 more tries in this half where Imavere only landed one more. Shockingly not a single scrum in the first half. There must have been some talks over the half break as the defence came back and put up walls. 4 solid scrums kept the score down, however Fareoene cut through and landed a try + convo, sealing victory.

Sun: Roskilde Majestæt DRK Vs
Nemedia
Score: 6 - 14 Scrums: 6
A very hard fought match. In the beginning of the game Nemedia worked a try, but Roskilde DRK came back with the fury with a try and conversion. So many loose tries must have scared the teams as there was a total lockdown from both sides with scrum after scrum, at one point 4 in a row, showing tremendous pressure on each side all the way up until the 2nd half. During the 2nd half play seemed to flow more easily, and Nemedia took full advantage of that; despite Roskilde DRk dominating ball possestion, Nemedia used every ounce of ball they had making two tries with one conversion.

Pool 2 -
Alderbugh Rothín Road Stadium 6pm
Sat: Loksa RSB Vs 10th Continental Marine Regiment Rugby Team
Score: 6 - 10 Scrums: 2
The first match was a non-event, as neither side could keep a hold of the ball for any meaningful amount of time and the highlights of the half were two scrums. Both teams picked up however for the second half, as the 10th Continentals score a try with conversion, and then snatched the ball right off of Loksa RSB and landed another try. Loksa RSB came back bravely, with a try and conversion, adding a decent score to the boards, but not a winning score.

Sun:
Ajaccio Pikemen Vs Puerto Viejo Toros
Score: 8 - 18 Scrums: 3
Match opened at a normal pace, with Ajaccio Pikemen making the with try of the game, followed by the second try of the game. After which, both offensives performed very poorly, barely able to even hold on to the ball as the rest of the first half passed with barely any progress made. Puerto Viejo Toros ended the stagnant play in the second half with a try with conversion, followed by another try with conversion, followed by a third try with conversion. Puerto

Pool 3 -
Dawn University Stadium 6pm
Sat:
Herediano Caballeros Vs Kuressaare RSB
Score: 6 - 16 Scrums: 7
A very exciting match, with Kuressaare emplying a very powerful offence and defence, both scrumming every ball Herediano Caballeros touched and gaining a try and convo in the first half. After KRSB gained another try in the second half HC came back, full force, with a try and conversion however KRSB immediately came back with a try and conversion of their own, breaking Herediano Caballeros' spirit.

Sun:
Vesper Metropolitans Vs Milesia
Score: 12 - 20 Scrums: 3
Both teams came out today looking for blood, but niether of their defensive halves would be having any of it. With the entire first half being a shut down, with three scrums and only a cheeky field goal from Milesia to end the 0-0 draw. However both their tactics changed, no reversed, in the second half. The second half could best be called a war of attrition, as each side scored try after try; all with conversions. When the dust settled however Milisia had gotten one more try + conversion, and took the victory.

Pool 4 -
Vedrarfjord MacSweeney Insurance Stadium 1pm
Sat: Durham RFC Vs Collershire RFC
Score: 18 - 18 Scrums: 4
A very fast-paced, exciting game with a high number of tries right from the get go, with Durham RFC knocking out two tries at the start sandwitched between a Collershire RFC try and conversion. AAfter a quick scrum Durham got a try, then Collershire's try and conversion, and Durham's try and conversion made a mirror of the starting play of the game. The second half was much calmer, with scrums replacing tries for the most part, however Collershire managed another try, but missed a conversion which would have won them the game.

Sun:
Kristiana RK Vs Occidental Tiburones
Score: 8 - 14 Scrums: 6
Occidental Tiburones opened this game beautifully with a try, and it was every amount of energy Kristiana Rk could muster to push them back from another, but OT just ended the half with another try. Kristiana, not one to accept defeat, took the second half like a whirlwind, gaining a try in the first moments of the second half, and then another try right after for good measure. After some pretty hard scrums however, KRK must have lost it's steam as OT came in for the killing blow with a try with conversion.

Pool 5 -
Alderburgh Rothín Road Stadium 1pm
Sat: Sankt Haagens Monstrumer DRK Vs New Dulwich Imperials
Score: 4 - 8 Scrums: 5
New Dulwich Imperials took a try in the first half of this game and then sat down and built a wall. No matter what Sankt Haagens Monstrumer DRK could do, the Imperials resisted it. It held scrum after scrum until the second half. SHM-DRK seemed to not recover from their futile offensive in the first half as NDI hits with a try, and then bunkers down again. SHM-DRK Seemed to predict the tactic however as they worked a try in before NDI got it's wall up proper. However it was in vain as time simply ran out for SHM-DRK.

Sun: Formoria Vs
First Haven Saints
Score: 10 - 6 Scrums: 6
Two very even-sided teams came out on the pitch today, as while Formoria managed a try with conversion in the first parts of this match, both teams simply butted heads all the way until the second half and then some. With 5 scrums one after the other, both teams were both exhausted and furiously stubborn to not be the ones to break the line. The First Haven Saints were made of sterner stuff however, as they broke past Formoria and score a try with conversion. However though they relished the glory of breaking the scrum, the First Haven Saints were simply out of energy, and Formoria recovered quicker, and score a quick try in the last moments of the game stealing the victory.

Pool 6
Dawn University Stadium 1pm
Sat:
Cazma Polytechnikum Vs Westhaven West, Industrial RFC
Score: 12 - 18 Scrums: 4
Unlike many matches which started fast and furious, this match started hard and brutal, with 3 tries in a row right at the start. However Cazma Polytechnikum boroke the line with a try and conversion which put them in the lead for the second half. Cazma Polytechnikum made sure of this lead by getting another try with conversion right at the start of the second half, and all thought Cazma had made this game a closed case. Suddenly Westhaven West became like absolute hound of hell, with three tries, with conversions, in a row. Cazma P, barely holding on to the ball, seemed to lose all defensive power during this moment, and as such lost their hold on the game. Westhaven West Industrial RFC, the comeback on the tournament so far!

Sun: Jorvik Rugbyklubb Vs University of Koper
Score: 4 - 10 Scrums: 5

Jorvik Rugbyklubb showed a fast pace and good manouvering in the first half by gaining a try soon, but the University of Koper gave JR a shaking down with two very heavy tries in a row, which allowed Koper to come forward and claim a try for themselves. In the second half Jorvik seemed to have not recovered and Koper hammered them like a tent peg, pushing two more scrums and exhausting JK once again, allowing University of Koper to gain a try with conversion. In the absolute last moments of the game however, Jorvik Ruugbyklubb caught their second wind, and was barely meters away from scoring a try, which they could possibly have converted into a draw, but they messed it up at the last moment and Koper took it immediately into the other sode of the pitch to end the game.
