Mission statement: The Association for the Dutch Language in the New World (ADL, ADLNW) is dedicated to the preservation and cultivation of the Dutch language in Occidentia and the dialects therein.

Membership: While there is no national-level sponsorship of the Association, Occidentian nations encouraging the development of the Dutch language are free to send observatory representatives to the ADL at their convenience.

Position as a regulatory body for Occidentian Dutch: The Republic of East Occidentia (Dutch: Republiek van Oost-Avondland) officially recognizes the ADL and its presiding committee of scholars as the regulator of Occidentian Dutch as an arm of the Oost-Avondland Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns (East Occidentian Academy for Science and Arts) and its publication of the Avondlandse-Duits Woordelys en Spelreëls (Occidentian Dutch Word List and Spelling Rules) as a standardized dictionary and grammatical resource.

The Seneca Union State (Dutch: Unie-Staat van Senecah) recognizes the ADL and its committee as the regulatory body of Occidentian Dutch through the Red Haven Institute of Cultural Studies (Dutch: de Roodhafen Instituut voor Culturele Studies), with whom it is authorized to collaborate to produce standardized vocabulary and grammatical resources for students and native speakers.

Academic activity: The ADL works in close cooperation with Occidentian universities and schools to provide Dutch language programs for students in secondary and higher education, and offers a scholarship to gifted students, known as the Van Cann Scholarship.
