Federal Funding For Rail Tunnel Connecting Sequoia Islands Gets Green Light.
Hesper - Congress completed a milestone today, as a major rail project set to connect the mainland to the two major islands in the Sequoia Island chain passed the Chamber with a majority vote. Federal funding had the green light to begin construction, that would enable easier access to the two major Islands off the coast, including the city of Lorelei. The project, that included connecting the major cities of Chryse by high speed-rail, is an effort pushed by President Grace who defended the project as "A major step in updating and modernizing the infrastructure of the Country, allowing Chryse to keep up with the times in new an innovative ways." The project had been in the works for many years, with experts mounting for calls of "Major updates in roads, highways, and new research into modern methods of travel." It would improve the strain on travelers between the Islands and the mainland, who rely on ferries and air travel to reach destinations in the island chain. Initial projects heralded by State Governments we're brought up for debate in the past, but were struck down by many State legislatures who claimed that projects would leave States "flat broke."
Months later, supported by a slight uptick in economic progress and a popular agenda in Hesper, President Grace championed hard for these projects in Congress, and across the country, visiting major manufacturing Plants and delivering speeches to many outlining "the core advantages of a major update in infrastructure across the country that would modernize the way we travel today and the way we work in a modernized world." The Tunnel project is expected to begin by the end of this year, and would try to be completed by the beginning of 2014.
