Widespread Drought in Bey Province

Conditions in Ayyubistan's Bey province are growing increasingly worse as it's widespread drought is causing several harmful consequences. Bey is Ayyubistan's largest province, and it's flat arid landscape is mostly used for farming. The drought is beginning to cause crop failure, and shortages of food are popping up all over the province. Many worry, if not handled with haste, this drought is the start of a nation-wide famine. Governor Abdul Farrah made is remarks on the issue; "We are currently hard at work to solve this growing problem, and we won't stop until this issue has been sufficiently been dealt with. As of now we urge our populace to conserve water wherever possible, and use as little as possible. With our combined efforts the hope of averting this crisis is ever rising."

Parliament has not yet addressed the issue.

To whom it may concern.

The Pelasgian Empire is quite concerned at the growing drought in the nearby nation of Ayyubistan. We would be open to helping in any way possible, if necessary. Moreover, his Imperial Majesty's Minister of Maritime Affairs has instructed the Imperial Coast Guard and Port Corps to be alert in case the missing fishing boat is detected.

To our most generous neighbors,

We humbly accept any assistance that the Empire of Pelasgia would be willing to offer in aiding our efforts to combat this drought. And to addressing your offer into providing naval assistance in locating one of our missing ships, would also be greatly appreciated. Although we already have our own coastal guard force currently searching for the lost vessel, any Pelasgian assistance will be welcomed.

On behalf of the Assembly, I thank you.

Signed,

Efforts are made to locate missing fishing ship in The Long Sea

Recently, a small fishing vessel by name of "The Usaama" has gone gone missing in The Long Sea. It was last seen just off-shore of the north-western coast, near the city of Ghazi. The crew's last known transmission is nearly inaudible, suggesting some sort of radio interference. Although what could be heard gave away that the crew was in distress. The Ayyubistani Coastal Guard has already dispatched a search-and-rescue force in hopes of finding "The Usaama" and her crew. In light of this event, our neighbors in Pelasgia have offered their naval support to help aid our efforts. We here remain optimistic that "The Usaama" is found, and her passengers returned home.

Archaeologists conducting an expedition in central deserts of Qadir make mysterious discovery

A small team of researchers from The University of Anwar has uncovered unknown remains in the central deserts of Qadir province. Whilst conducting a dig in a promising location, the team uncovered the full remains of a large, ancient mammal. It was believed to have lived around 50,000 years ago, and to have lived in the area. The remains are around 11 meters long, and was able to stand over 5 meters high. This mammal is extremely similar to our modern elephants around the world, although the remains found in Qadir are far larger than average. This large animal is believed to be an ancient ancestor of today's elephants. The team is still continuing to conduct it's research.

Authorities are struggling to control massive wildfires in Bey Province

The current drought in Bey Province has caused more than just food shortages. The dry winds and lack of moisture have sparked several wildfires among Bey's highlands. At first these fires were contained to some degree, as firefighters were able to keep the fires from spreading. Now, with dry eastern winds, the fires have spread and grown in number. Many fires now threaten rural communities in the hills. One village has already been destroyed as the fires had grown to an uncontrollable level. Fortunately, no civilians were injured and were able to evacuate the area in time. Provincial Authority has already ordered the evacuations of several highland villages, in hopes of keeping the people safe. As a consequence, these fires and evacuations have left over 300 people without shelter. Provincial firefighters continue to make efforts against the wildfires.

To whom it may concern.

The Pelasgian Empire is monitoring the developments in the Bey Province closely. If necessary, we might consider providing aid to the areas currently affected by the fires, as well as supporting efforts to extinguish them, though we are confident that, as of yet, the authorities of Abbuyistan are fully capable of dealing with the crisis.

Eamil-Shayuei Rally in Anwar Province turns violent

A large rally of Ayyubistan's Eamil-Shayuei Party takes a nasty turn as the gathering turns violent when authorities open fire upon the enraged crowd. With two civilians killed, and around a dozen or more injured, this incident has sparked an uproar of unrest among the Provinces. Rumors have it that extremist Eamil-Shayuei members are calling for a violent response. The police forces in Anwar have yet to make a statement. The country is in deep suspense as we watch for further development of this incident.

To whom it may concern,

The Pelasgian Empire sends its condolences to the families of all those hurt or killed in the recent clashes, while condemning the breaches of law and order made by the Eamil-Shayuei Party and calling for all sides to remain calm and peacefully resolve any disputes they might have, offering to observe any negotiations as a mediator. His Imperial Majesty's Government would like to make it very clear that the violent usurpation of power by Eamil-Shayuei Party or any other such similar radical faction will not be tolerated and that Pelasgia will stand by the Most Serene Republic's lawful authorities to the bitter end and assist them by any means necessary. At the same time, the Empire will be dispatching humanitarian aid for the persons affected by the wildfires in the Bey Province, in addition to firefighting equipment.

***TOP SECRET***

Date: 1 June 1957
From: Embassy of the Pelasgian Empire in Daradan, Ayyubistan
To: Government of the Most Serene Republic of Ayyubistan
Subject: Support against possible insurgency
Classification: Α1 - Top Secret

To whom it may concern,

I have been instructed by His Imperial Majesty's Government to notify you of the Empire's unwavering support of the National Assembly and the current authorities of your Most Serene Republic as the sole lawful and legitimate state actor in Ayyubistan. At the same time, Propontis is abhorred at the possibility of the Eamil-Shauyei Party or any other radical faction, especially of a Communist nature taking control over your country. I thus find myself obliged to let you know that the Pelasgian Empire shall support your government no matter what and by whatever means necessary. Moreover, should the Eamil-Shauyei Party or any such faction take over your nation, the Empire would consider it to be an immense strategic and existential danger for itself, the Status Quo of the Kalahari Sea and the greater balance of power both in Himyar and in all of Europe. Such a prospect would warrant extreme measures and we would thus strongly suggest that you not hesitate to request any aid needed from us so as to do your utmost to prevent it from becoming a reality.

Yours sincerely,

Alexios Areōs Oöryphas

Ambassador of the Pelasgian Empire in Daradan, Ayyubistan,

FROM: ASAD EL-NEMAN, MINISTER OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS
SUBJECT: POSSIBLE INSURGENCY THREAT
CLASS: - UNDISCLOSED -

To His Majesty's Government,

We are well aware of the possible insurgent threat in our Provinces, and have been monitoring the Eamil-Shayuei for some time. Though unfortunately, we were unable to foresee this incident. We are willing to allow Pelasgian support, only in retaliation of a large, and organized attack. Until otherwise, our Supreme Leader would like to deal these endeavours with our own resources. Let it be known that His Majesty's offer of support is duly noted.
