Earlier today, local officials in Aberdwyff began the construction of a new energy plant, officially starting the state's Plan for Economic Development. Construction is expected to take seven months and will create several thousand new opportunities for the unemployed. Those interested are advised to contact your local job office for more details.

An orchestral rendition of the state anthem precedes an introduction which declares "We interrupt our normally scheduled programming for a special announcement" before quickly changing to a calm, male voice.
Good evening, my fellow comrades.
In a secret session of the Council of Ministers which ended minutes ago, Wilhelm Mauer, Head Commissioner for the Socialist Unity Party, was sworn in as Chief Minister of the People's Socialist Republic of Calidia, replacing August Martz, the new Secretary of State.
We will now take you live to Mauer's first address in the public square in Dubsbury.
A roaring crowd can be heard in the background, with the people cheering "Mau-er Mau-er Mau-er." It quickly subsides as Mauer begins to speak.
"My fellow comrades in arms and service! It has been a rough year. Together, we struggled in creating a new socialist state out of the fires of Capitalism. Yet, we did not struggle alone; we did so together. But it has also been a great year, for the formation of our beloved state was proof that we did not fight in vain.
However, our history together has been rife with factionalism and division. Today, this must end. For our beloved state to survive, it must come together. Division and disunion are advantages to be used by our enemies; of which we have many. We must come together, united in a common cause...
In our formation of this People's Republic, we joined the vanguard of history; the proletariat, in defeating the shackles of capitalism. We became the first German communist state, but we are not done. We have not forgotten our allies who live capitalism oppression in the west, and we will, one day, return for them.
But one cannot destroy a mountain in a day. It takes time, effort, preparation, and most importantly, patience. We must focus on building Communism at home, before we can take it abroad. We must consolidate our gains. We must focus on building relations with the other Communist nations, and our great allies in the east.
While it has been a hard year, I cannot say it will get much better, but it is the duty of all of us to put our noses to the grindstone and work through it. Soon, the darkness will lift, and the light will emerge. Then, we will enter the world of socialism.
This is not a fight we can do alone. So I say, turn to your brother and kin to your left and right, and stand with them, as we march towards a brighter future, together."
The crowd cheers as the radio fades back into the nightly news.
