freakish winter storm blasts Golarsen
On Thursday Golarsen experienced a rather rare winter blast with heavy snowfall downpouring on the city all day. Reports of up to 7 inches were measured around the North Golarsen and West Golarsen Heights areas yesterday, and the Presidential Manor reported around 6 inches of snow. All government offices and schools were closed across the region, and the airport as well as the train stations cancelled trips going in and out of the city. With temperatures to remain below freezing all next week, the snow is expected to remain. Sand trucks have been out today in an attempt to reduce sliding on the roads and sidewalks, but many accidents were still reported across the metro area yesterday. One fatal crash killed a woman of 62 years and a man of 49, and five were reported injured and taken to the emergency room. Government offices will reopen on Saturday and schools will reopen on Monday.
anarchists protest in Rellispen City
Mass protests by the anarchist group Liberation Centralia have taken place outside the Rellispen City Hall after the mayor announced the raising of sales taxes of up to 11%, among the highest in the region. The group called for an end to ridiculous taxes as well as for the release of jailed prominent anarchist leader Malary Volitza, who was jailed for reportedly vandalizing the city hall and other government property last Saturday. Volitza is also facing fines of up to $DD 500 for the vandalization. The protests began at around 6:00 Friday morning with hundreds waving red and black flags as well as huge banners with the letter A and the circle around it, a prominent symbol of anarchy.
tensions rising between Valkany and Portusgalia?
The Central Centralian government has been closely analyzing the activities and threats between Valkany and Portusgalia, and has ordered the ambassadors to temporarily return home, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reports. The Central Centralian government has called for peace talks between both countries and hopes to use the advantage of being one of the few countries to have embassies in both Portusgalia and Valkany to engage talks between the two countries and avoid armed conflict. Through diplomatic relations the Central Centralian government hopes to ease the rather bellicose rhetoric between both countries and soothe tensions between both countries.
the University of Central Centralia announces breakthrough discovery in cancer cure research
The University of Central Centralia's medical research laboratory announced that they were able to ''defeat cancer in a test snail'' using specially modified genes from an exotic fish species. This discovery may lead to advancement on finding a cure in humans, the lab reports. However, the snail also faced moderate intoxication from the treatment, signifying that this cure still has ways to go.
