The King's Army council wishes to convey the fact that they are looking into a possible update from Agderike's current main battle tank. They wish to inquire the effectiveness of the JOYEUSE HEAVY ASSAULT TANK in heavy snow and icy conditions. Additionally, they wish to inquire the difference between the JOYEUSE HEAVY ASSAULT TANK and all of the other possible selections. Agderike has only ever selected one tank to be in service at a time, and wishes to know what advantages there would be in the possibilities of having two or more tanks in service.

Cobham Arsenal

The Joyeuse Heavy Assault Tank is a special-mission battle tank designed to destroy obstructions and maintain the momentum of an advance. To this end the 95 pdr. is optimized for firing large High Explosive Squash Head shells that can reduce in seconds obstacles, bunkers and enemy armor. Compared with out other models the Joyeuse has an exceptionally high profile, necessary to accommodate it's large weapon, and reduced mobility stemming from it's considerable bulk. Taking into account these facts the experts at Cobham Arsenal do not believe the Joyeuse is suitable in the medium or cruiser roles.

Considering the mission you have described to us we humbly recommend the Durandal Cruiser Tank supported by the more potent, if less nimble, Almace gun tank. The Durandal possess a balanced mixture of firepower, armor and agility and compared with the larger Almace and Joyeuse is lighter & more economical. It's 39 pdr. however can comfortably defeat enemy mediums at extended battle ranges and is still a threat to even the heaviest adversaries at close ranges when high-velocity APDS. The Almace gun tank is a natural accompaniment to the Durandal; though slower it's potent 50 pdr. can destroy even the heaviest enemy battle tanks at extended ranges with accurate APCR ammunition.

Before the King's Army Council can continue with any purchase we also have a few questions about the DURANDAL CRUISER TANK. From photographs observed, we are unsure if the tank is able to perform well in the mountainous regions of Agder and Fey. As a result, we must ask if the turret on the tank is able to adjust vertically, which we worry it cannot on the basis of the photographs provided. If it is unable to, we would ask Cobham if it has an interest in producing the DURANDAL CRUISER TANK with this ability, specially for Agderike.

We apologize for the oversight. The Durandal has a main armament elevation range of +13 to -8 degrees and the vehicles can negotiate a maximum gradient of 60 degrees. The Almace has an elevation range of +15 to -8 and comparable performance on a grade. By our estimation this is sufficient for the vast majority of direct fire engagements.

"On behalf of His Imperial Majesty's Armed Forces, I wish to inform the Rt. Hon. Cobham Arsenal that the Imperial Ministry for War has began evaluations for a medium heavy armoured fighting vehicle. In particular, we would be most interested to conduct field evaluations of your offered Durandal, Almace and Joyeuse, with a prospective contract for a large number of units for our chosen vehicle.

"The Ministry for War is prepared to purchase a small number of units of each model for this purpose together with standard-configuration ammunition for two missions, so they may be practically evaluated in Wieserreicher countryside conditions, as well as cover the living, housing and travelling costs for trained crew to be provided by your company. Fuel will be provided by the Reichswehr.

"The amount of units we would like to inquire of would include five vehicles of each type, to simulate a platoon in action.

"The vehicles are expected to face trials against armoured fighting vehicles proposed by Wieserreicher producers, which your chosen delegation may observe. Given successful trials, the vehicle chosen can be expected to be ordered in numbers required to equip an armoured unit, amounting from twenty to up to ninety-six vehicles, not including the evaluation vehicles we have inquired about.

"In addition, we would like to inquire about metric system specifications for the three vehicles, as provided by your company. We are interested in the weights in kilograms, main armament information in centimetres of calibre, speeds in kilometres per hour, and armour thickness in millimetres.

"We look forward to your reply and our cooperation."
