Office of the Great Intermediary
Private Communiqué
Classified - Top Secret - Most Urgent (Δ.ΑΑ/5-ΑΕ)
Φ537/2969/12907 - ΑΣ 178/2017
To the attention of governments of the People's Socialist Republics of @Kadikistan , the Free State of @Trivodnia , the Kingdom of @Eiffelland , and the Republic of @Crotobaltislavonia .
To whom it may concern,
It is the understanding of the Empire that, it recent days, a crisis has occured in Crotobaltislavonia which, due to foreign involvement, has threatened the status quo and fragile peace of Gallo-Germania and the greater Long Sea-Kalahari region. Having in the past narrowly avoided war between the West and the Ruriksgrad pact, Europe faces an even greater danger of escalation far beyond Gallo-Germania less than a century after the Trivodnia-Novo Srbja crisis.
While the Empire is certainly not part of the Germanian region, our treaty obligations to our Trier Concord partners, our trade relations with Trivodnia, and our co-signing the Status Quo Treaty with Kadikistan bind us to that part of Europe solidly, giving us a vested interest in the maintenance of peace, national sovereignty and the status quo therein. It is, of course, the understanding of Propontis that mistakes have been made on all sides and that all sides have legitimate grievances which should and must be addressed for peace to return. It is not the purpose of the Empire to ascribe blame to any one side or to make grand declarations, but, rather, to see that these issues are rectified to promote peace.
Thus, the goal of the Empire is to facilitate secret, frank discussions between the aforementioned great nations and any other countries whose attendance they deem to be necessary to ensure a successful peace and deescalation deal. The talks' secrecy is aimed at allowing all parties to speak frankly and truthfully, prioritising effective solutions over pretences and facades or public bravado. It ought to be noted that the Empire does by no means dare to presume itself an authority on dictating to the nations of that region how they should behave or solve their disputes or to be in position to enforce any sort of deal.
Instead, our appreciation for our partners on all sides and our desire to maintain a state in which we can fulfill all our obligations to them is the primary motivation for this move on our part. If the nations in question prefer such a conference to be hosted by nations other than ours, we would be more than understanding, though we would request an attendance or observer role for the aforementioned reasons. Otherwise, Propontis, or a more nearby and discreet location within the Empire would be available for the hosting of such a discussion.
Signed and sealed,
Theophrastos Anastasiades
Great Intermediary between the Emperor and the Senate
Patrician Nobelissimus and Authente of Dhekelia
