EDF fails, Nicosia pays 21 Million

Drottninggården —Reports stated that the Nicosia has succumbed to Solaris demands with a sum total of 21 million Euros. The news came as a shock as it was largely assumed by the Lundqvist Government that the EDF would come to the aid of Nicosia and find a way to get the Nicosian 4000 out of harms way.

The real story could not be any more different. The EDF did not aid the Nicosians and while the monetary loss isn't all too important, it is the loss of respect that the EDF will suffer after being unable to aid their member. The message is quite clear, and that the Solaris threat has yet to be stopped, but rather appeased.

The Lundqvist Government has summoned the Franconian Ambassador to explain the official EDF policy, and if this effort was agreed upon by the EDF or if the Nicosians had acted upon their own accord.

Solaris assets will not be unfrozen. Suionia unlike her Frescanian counterparts, does not maintain an embassy in Solaren.

The Idiots: No Potato For The Kids! Economic Ruin to a Celt Near You!

Drottninggården —In perhaps the dumbest move of the entire year, in the span of less than one day the Republic of Bantyr ruined their economy. The seizure of all assets in Bantyr that belong to any business operating from a Northern Council country is what did it.

How did this happen? In some of the most illogical moves of the spring, the Celtic Brotherhood of the Kingdom of Warre and the Republic of Bantyr placed an embargo upon the Republic of Batavië a Northern Council member. This effectively ended all trade between Batavië and the Celtic Brotherhood. A great deal of deliberation occurred, and the Vistrasians responded with their own embargo. The Kingdom of Suionia did not want to entirely eliminate trade, but a common response had to be given. As a result, the entire Northern Council and their member-states increases tariffs by 1000%. This effectively created an embargo of all goods from the Celtic Brotherhood without officially stating so. In dramatic fashion, the Republic of Bantyr seized all Northern Council business assets and the rest is history.

Bantyr has effectively shown that the government can and will seize private property without so much as a care. This spawned a frenzy on the markets as investors from around the world wanted to sell foreign companies with business dealings in Bantyr. Foreign businesses who did business in Bantyr, fearful of similar tensions immediately want to get out of Bantyr.

Capitalism is an interesting system. A key ingredient to it is the right to private enterprise and property. When a Capitalist system no longer acknowledges the key ingredients to this system as protected, one can only assume that the system will failure within the international market. This is exactly what is happening in Bantyr today.

On the Göteköping exchange, currency trades made Bantyr's currency nearly worthless on the Göteköping exchange. The panic naturally spreads around the globe. Some are worried that the economic issue may trigger a European recession as trade is halted in Northern Europe, and a capitalist system is on its knees due to the lunacy of owners. Citizens in Bantyr can even worry that they may not have the right to maintain their own possessions if they cannot keep their own government happy.

The next question is will this same failed policy expand towards Warre? Will Warreic leaders also show a complete ignorance in how to manage an economy? It has been rumored that Suionian based company, Twåtter, which runs some offices in Warre has asked the Warreic government if it has to worry about similar actions in Warre. If so, it is likely the Twåtter will leave Warre permanently, and it is likely foreign investment into the Celtic world will come to end.

End this economic failure of a policy demands Europe! Come to the table, else Europe will move on without you.

Government Ban on New Foreign Companies That Deal in Bantyr

Drottninggården —Today the Government passed a law which now refuses entry of new companies and corporations which operate in Bantyr. Corporations which decide to expand to Bantyr must contract out their business in Suionia to the Government who will assign it to a new Government owned corporation specialized in handling the importation of goods from firms which operate in Bantyr. The law does not apply to raw materials imported for Suionian finished products.

The goal is to marginalize Bantyr and make business unattractive to have in Bantyr. The result might be the protection of Suionian firms which may have struggled to compete against foreign corporations, or in regards to automobiles, greatly boost their ability to compete in Suionia.

What is notable is the fact that the Northern Council has not changed its position since their embargo response. Suionia has been the lone country attempting to navigate these rough waters with neither Celtic nation willing to change their stance. This has lead the Government to call the Celts economic terrorists.

Prime Minister Lindqvist added that the situation must be solved soon, else the conflict would be handled in less diplomatic manners as diplomacy had continued to falter due to the Celtic refusal to actually formulate or coordinate peaceful talks.

The raw materials clause was done in order to prevent the law from being harmful to Suionian companies like Päron AB which is a leading producer of trendy hipster computers across Europe. This has also led many to wonder if this clause might be exploited to get around the new law.
