When Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, his legacy splintered into many separate and distinct homages such as Catholicism or Nativism. When the Engellexic Empire fell, it too diverged into varying interpretations of Sylvanian Liberty, Senecan Idealism, and Cussian Dignity. The Twin Republics of Engellex, as they are today, is a state that suppresses liberty, legitimizes Himyari slavery as an ideal, and entrusts a barren childless woman with the dignity of future Engellkind.

Although Cantignia would cherish the opportunity to belabor these points, religious and historical interpretations are not the purposes of this communication. Last week we made the rational and proactive decision to isolate and identify a disease that our Health Office traced to recent arrivals from Hammersmith and Londjou. That these cities are hubs of squalor and contagion should be no surprise to your countries, for they are bulging cysts that could soon boil over to any one of your nations should you ignore scientific reality.

Sylvania has already selflessly volunteered medical personnel to respond to our Engellborne pandemic, and our naval intelligence has told us to expect the support of Cussian Medical personnel. We intend to allow each of these bodies to see for themselves just a snapshot of what exists in perpetuity in the Old Country. Cantignia has nothing to hide, and offers further to allow Senecan medical observers to see how we are treating the Engellpox disease among Republican and Covenant citizens equally.

In October Beautancus experienced Typhoon Miguel, and each of our nations offered help in assisting those affected. Later in October Cantignia invited dignitaries from your nations as friends and equals to our Thankskinsmens Day Soiree, where we again came together despite differences to share meat and drink. Today we do the same - we invite doctors and observers from Beautancus, Sylvania, and Seneca to assist in treating the Engellborne disease that sought to expand in the heart of Vesper. Our measures this pandemic were rapid and extreme, we will not deny that, though we point towards historical outbreaks across the Occident that have affected our nations so that extreme precautions were necessary.

Cantignia can no longer officially communicate with the Twin Republics of Engellex, per their likewise extreme measures, and Sylvania has been so maligned and excommunicated for daring to recognize and offer assistance for this outbreak. We therefore ask the high minded Senecan, and well respected Cussian to serve as neutral parties in this dispute and disease before it takes another Engell citizen or descended folks life.

To whom it may concern,

First, it is imperative that all else be prefaced with the understanding that the prayers of all the Union lie with those souls that find themselves afflicted by this newly wrought disease. That a growing number of the Covenant's own peoples and patriots find themselves so afflicted is indeed a cause of grave concern, and the reaction by Cantignian authorities in attempting to contain a potential outbreak of the infection ought to be commended on those grounds.

Nevertheless, it is the view of both this office and our esteemed colleagues in the Office of Public Health & Safety that this so-called "Engellpox" does not represent the calamitous threat to civilization that the Covenant presupposes. There is little indication that this affliction is, in severity, a significant deviation from what are unfortunately ordinary seasonal disease patterns. However, the Union will not presuppose. There will indeed be doctors, nurses, paramedics, and researchers from the Union dispatched with all haste to our friends in the Covenant, both to render what aide they may and to indeed identify the origin of this disease. It is the sincere hope of myself and this office that this is not, in fact, representative as a snapshot of the Old Country.

On the topic of diplomatic affairs, the Union stands ready to serve as an intermediary between Engellex and Cantignia. Whether to serve as a direct go-between or as a site for meetings, the Union will open its doors in the interest of and spirit of cooperation. We would preach the gospel of caution: that couching illness, medical need, in the language of politics and morality is not a means to engender said spirit.

It must be admitted, with no small amount of trepidation, that this event has deeply perplexed this administration and government, therefore it is with no small amount of relief that we receive word of this development in turn and likewise. This outbreak, be it whatever it may in the end, is as ill-timed as possible given the present climate of Communist ascendancy and continued advance throughout so much of the rest of the world. We can poor afford division among the Engellkin community of peoples and states, when the very future of the species depends upon each and all rising to the uttermost limits of excellence.

Though it is true that those of birth in our common Mother-Country perhaps lack the natural, Occidental vigor of our nations, we find it truly hard to believe that a people so steeped in greatness and capable of providing the genetic kernel for our genesis and varied development would be susceptible to so uncivilized an illness in the first place. While at first we feared that some neurological outbreak of a heretofore un-diagnosed Polar Strain had been released with the recent inclement conditions, it has come to pass that this administration now strongly suspects a Communist disinformation plot is at play, and suggest that an investigation be opened in this regard immediately, has it not already been. To that effect, and to facilitate a resumption of regularized diplomatic relations between the Engellexian Republic and our two, almost certainly misinformed or misled neighboring kindred.

This said, and though the Confederated Republic values, and requires, the continued harmony of all the Engellkin of the globe, it should never be said that we lack a commitment to the values of public health and national security and sovereignty. To that effect, as has already been intimated by authorized personnel of the State Service of Beautancus, a Naval Task Force, consisting primarily of a medical science contingent including but not limited to the CRN-V Caduceus, as well as the CRN-V Grim Tidings and CRN-V Singing Fat Lady in escort, have indeed already been dispatched for Cantignian shores.

It is our most heartfelt desire that we, in cooperation with our neighbors and partners in Seneca, shall ensure a swift and mutually agreeable resolution to this untimely crisis. Should needs prove it so, His Excellency the First Citizen & Chief wishes it be made clear that my own services shall be made available in pursuance of this - or those of the inestimable Dr. Rheron Cypreau of the aforementioned SSB, at your preferences.

Sylvania still stands firm on it's offer to assist the Grand Covenant in this crisis, it is paramount that we stop the spread of any contagious diseases as early as possible. In coordination with the Department of Health and Human Safety's Office for Communicable Disease Control we shall be sending our top medical crisis response team to Vesper to help in the investigation of how this disease came to be in Vesper and to aid stopping the spread.

However we find it curious that the Cussian response would be so skeptical, even downright accusatory as to claim that this is some sort of communist plot to destroy the unity of Engellkin nations in these precarious times. We would like to see the evidence the Cussians base their strong suspicions on.

While it is a shame that the Engellexian Republic has cut diplomatic ties to our country, the health and safety of our people are our prime concerns at the moment. Healing this new divide must come after we heal the poor souls afflicted with this pox.
