Marek Yushchenko
Rovograd;
23. Januray.2012

Marek was waiting for around three hour to talk to General Tomaszewsky. He wanted to leave Zamosk as early as possible, and when through the city there were talks that soon the Altaic Army retreats, he and his wife wanted to leave with them. The news of the closing of the borders came as a shock to them. After the Zamoskan independence, the Diagists living here are now seen with other eyes. The Zamoskans violated their own treaty and now Marek’s only chance to leave was with his old high school friend Maksim Tomaszewsky.
“Sir, general Tomaszewsky can receive you.”
Finally. He though of what to tell his old friend and had the idea to “join” the Army only in papers, just until he and his wife get to Altai. For this he wrote a letter of request and also, in the envelope he also placed a small “attention”, as it is traditionally done in Altai.
As he opened the door, Tomaszewsky was surprised to see his old colleague enter the room.
“Marek, it is a great…surprise to see you here.”
“Maksim, I came to you for help. If you can resolve a problem for me?”
“That depends. What is it?” the general asked, giving a frown.
“Could you help us, me and Iulia to get out of Zamosk?”
“Where would you want to go?”
“To Altaisk.”
“This will be a bit complicated, as the priests closed the border, even if they had the idea of keeping the borders open.”
“I know it will be hard but look here…” Marek said while giving the envelope to the general. Tomaszewsky opened the letter, saw the money and at first tried to estimate the amount. But then he took the letter and read it. “It is a good plan.” He said after he read it.
“Can you help me?”
“It would be risky…” But still there are many Reai in this. “I’ll try to get you a uniform. We leave in two days.”

“Does Bashai really think that he can change something? General Dabrowsky asked while opening the window of the office. “It will rain soon.”
“Bashai cannot change anything. The elders and zealots that have gathered here now, will disperse when the rain will start and in the next few days surely they would get sick of those demonstrations.”
“Bashai would still yell.”
“But there won’t be anyone to hear him, or anyone interested in hearing him. If the Parliament succeeds in secularizing the country and separating the state from the church, we won’t have any other reason to bear Bashai’s nonsense.” Maksim responded.
“After this stupidity is done we must concentrate on the real problem: Zamosk.”
“Yes. We must concentrate in making the world see a Salvation led Zamosk how it really is: Not as a liberated country but as a clerical clique that literally sold its nation to the Talemantine Empire.”
“Engellex and Talemantros recognized them. We were also obliged the recognize them and Potenza is very supportive for them, but I am not yet sure if they recognized Zamosk or not.”
“Do you remember the events from Malin?” asked Maksim. When Dabrowsky nodded he continued. “We must show the world that Lazarev’s actions were his and not Altai’s.”
“I see where you’re going.” Said Chancellor Karin entering the discussion after he listened quietly for a while. “We must rush Lazarev’s trial.”
“And we must publish the ProNat reports on what happened in Siddi el Hani two years ago.” Maksim continued.
“They killed the Muslims in the village to make the Patriotic Guards believe that they are surrounded by Christian militias.”
“But still, el Hani was on the other side of the Riff Oblast.”
“But was the least defended town with a sensible Muslim population.”
Suddenly, Karin’s telephone ringed.
“I’m sorry, gentlemen, I must leave now. I’ll see what I can do about the trial.”
When they were alone, Maksim said:
“I helped Marek, Marek Yushchenko cross the border when I retreated with the Rovograd Garrison.”
“Yushchenko, the journalist? Did you think about what a scandal would have this start if you were caught in helping people cross a closed border?”
“We weren’t stopped when we entered Marka. Some Salvationists were yelling and swearing at us, but no more than that.”
“Just thank any god or saint in which you believe that you escaped this time.”

“The people’s struggle is against imperialism. This means that the Zamoskans are against Talemantine soldiers and against the priests. And everything is important. From bombing to buying supplies. But some of the most important non bellicose actions are the buying of conspiratorial houses. We have three in Rovograd, two in Malin, one in Asau and one in Corbeanca. We have weapons, pistols and submachine guns. The people just wait so see someone fight against the occupiers and then they will join.” Dan Shevchenko said to the people gathered in an apartment in Rovograd. “The border is closed. We came here to help. And now we can’t back down. I know that some of you were trained in Altai with the Patriotic Guards, but some of you weren’t. I’ll tell you that it doesn’t make any difference, as the PGs are trained for open field battles. Here we are a guerrilla. We are fighting in the urban environments of Zamosk, or better said of Altai. We can’t back down now. General Tomaszewsky also said that he stopped cooperating with us, because the Talemantines will say that Altai funds us and thus, them being so imperialistic, can even start another Hymiari war.”

There were around 20 men and women that came with Marek Yushchenko, his wife Yulia and Dan Shevchenko and his girlfriend, Lena. All came to fight the Talemantines and the Salvationists.

“Betrayal. In the changing of every regime there is betrayal. Yesterday’s traitors change into today’s heroes if the take control of the nation. In every nation there are factions fighting, politically, economically or even armed to get into power. It is one thing to be called a “traitor” when there are factions fighting for power in your own country, but another, more serious thing to betray if your nation is at war.” Said Marek from the back of the room citing from Vinokourov’s Red Book. “For too much time we have stood and talked. It’s time to move. Me and my commando will remain in Rovograd and in the north coast. Dan, you will operate in the rest of Zamosk. Soon we will start operation Mars.”

Everything was in place. When the war started, some weapons were distributed in Zamosk to the people to start a guerrilla in case of Talemantine amphibious assault. When Tomaszewsky ordered the retreat, he gave the weapons to Marek and the future MEP, the People’s Liberation Movement. All they needed was to act.

Rovograd

Marek and Dana were approaching the Talemantine base in Rovograd.

“It will boom four times in Asau and three times in Rovograd. We will shake all this parasite state in just one night. The bombs are set to go off at midnight. Then, the civilian population will be minimal on the streets.”

“I don’t like the fact that we are so close to a bomb that will soon go off…” Dana said with a worried tone.
“We will be far by the time it will explode.” Said Marek trying to encourage her.

He parked the car in the public parking space in front of the offices building of the base.
“OK, were parked. The bombs are set on midnight. Let’s go home.” He said with a calm tone.

Home meant a conspiratorial apartment on the Democratia Prospekt. The same apartment in which the Rovograd group will meet to see the news late in the night.

On the other side of the city, at the former police headquarters in the city, another car was parked. Elena Aleksandrov and Livia Chazov got out of the car and began walking to the aforementioned apartment.
Another car was parked in front of a smaller police station. The FLP members took care to make all cars be normally parked, so they won’t catch the eye of anyone. The police stations were chosen as targets because the Salvationist movement has made their bases there. The old police headquarters also has some dorms so there would be some victims.

Asau

Dan Shevchenko, his girlfriend Lena Mikhailov and Pyotr Gorbenko came from Rovograd with a car that will soon also explode. They took additional bombs that will be planted in front of three Christian Churches and the car bomb will be parked and explode in front of the airport.

Dan was driving. He parked the car in the parking lot of the airport near other two cars. The three of them each took a backpack and began walking towards the only three Christian Churches in town. The city didn’t really and a majority religion, with Diagists and Christians being nearly the same number.
Pyotr heard that Dan and Lena were whispering one to another. He didn’t understand what they were telling. But he heard fragments of the conversation; he heard some things about union with Altai, freedom and secularity but then heard something about marriage. He was astonished on how could a woman love someone like Dan Shevchenko. It was unanimously seen that he is the leader of the group… the tyrannical leader. When planning and preparing for the attacks, Dan yelled on all but Marek, Lena and Yulia. Pyotr understood that Marek was the only man Dan respected. He didn’t yell at Lena because he loved her and Yulia, being Marek’s wife was also exempted from his outbursts of anger. The rest of the group was at his mercy. He yelled at everyone and literally threw away everyone’s plans. He didn’t accept the suggestions of anyone but the 3 aforementioned persons. Now, Pyotr was asking himself, how could a woman like Lena, who knew to show that he cared for everyone, love someone like him.

He arrived at the church. It was a small building built in the shape of the cross he placed the backpack in front of the doors. It was 10pm. The bombs will explode at midnight. No one will observe a backpack in the front of the church in two hours. Dan and Lena did the same.

Ricardo walked down the main venue of the Principality's city with his three partners. They had arrived two days ago and were now ready to begin their jobs.

They dressed in the traditional Altai clothing while speaking the native tongue to everyone and themselves. Being foreigners was to be avoided at all cause. It helped they had Altai parents back home. That was the greatness of the intelligence community: they knew who to recruit and where to send them. Their parents had always mentioned their hatred towards Altai's enemies, specially after the recent war. After years and even generations of waiting, this was their opportunity, one that they would not lose, even if that meant death. For them, it was personal, against their ancestors.

After ten minutes of walking, they arrived at their location. The city's bells ran. Noon. The locals move towards their houses and shops to begin eating, some even went to pray. Ricardo and his men waited for the signal, "Ma dusa-i sa trec Ieru" (Eng: "I crossed the Ier"), a traditional Altai song. Ricardo and his companions waited in silence. Then the music started.

Once inside, they saw a table arrange with food and individuals sitting around. They were motion to sit down and start eating. As in many places, business was best done while eating, thus Ricardo et al waited for their host to begin.

Yulia Yushchenko and Aleksey Yushchenko, a younger cousin of Marek and Maksym Utkin were waiting the Frescanians. The brothers, how she liked to call the frescanian sympathizers, have recognized her by a Noticiero Global she kept on the table. How in Altai it was a tradition to eat before discussing business, she ordered some chicken grilled on skewers and a tomato salad as garnish.
"So, she said, while we appreciate the fact that we have supporters in foreign countries, would you be interested to be part of the liberation movement and form a frescanian commando? If you aren't sure about our power, you will see soon the Salvationists news. We have power and support inside Zamosk, but we need more recruits."
