Office of the Prime Minister,
Grosvenor House,
Paris.

Shahrazad checked the time in her watch. She still had an hour, she picked up her telephone and dialed the, now very familiar, numbers of her secretary. "Julia, hold all the calls and tell the chamberlain to send a butler down here with some drinks. Thanks." She put down the phone and went through the items to discuss with the Abruzzi President. Of course, security was right at the top of that list, Paris had two important allies in that region and instability in Abruzicstan was something Paris would not allow.

Although Shahrazad had come into office, just little, over a month ago, she had been thrown into one of the toughest environments. Internationally, there was radical change going on, wars were on everyone's mind and the alliance politics were gaining pace once again. In that time, her administration alone had revitalized Belmontien foreign policy and had put Belmont formally with the EDF, through their PfS program. With support ratings in the eighties and the opposition in chaos, Shahrazad didn't need to worry about holding onto power. As far as the home front was concerned, everything was alright, at least for her and her party.

By one o' clock, she had been informed that the Abruzzi president had been picked up from the airport by the Foreign Minister. The man would be here in about twenty minutes. She herself avoided picking up foreign dignitaries since the media would catch on that she was there. The meeting with the President was secret. She didn't want Belmont's offer of aid to be known or noticed by anyone.

OOC: In your post just write that he has arrived in the office.

Arrival. Paris.

The car came to a halt, and the door flung open. McVeigh took his first steps onto Belmont soil since taking office. Abruzicstan and Belmont we're always close he knew, from Administration's past. He fiddled with his tie, making sure to look as professional as possible, and followed his entourage inside. The President looked more well put together today than usual. His bushy silver hair was combed, styled, and seemed to be a shade darker than before. A product of hair dye of course, it brought back the youthful look to the President that he was sorely lacking days ago. He looked Presidential, and he planned on taking advantage of it.

Taking long strides down the hall, he had reached the Prime Minister's office. He paused, waiting for the introduction, then proceeded inside to face Madam Shahrazad, smirking.

"I'm sure you wish to skip the introductions M'lady and just get right down to business?"

Shahrazad Martinique shook the hand of President McVeigh firmly. She smiled at him, as they both took their seats. "Yes," she started with a laugh, "it would be best to get straight to business." She put on her spectacles and looked at the dossier in front of her. "President McVeigh, the situation in Abruzicstan is getting quite volatile, by all accounts, and seeing our history together, I, and my colleagues, are concerned. Mr. President, do tell me what exactly Belmont can do to rid you of these problems."

He paused, clearing his throat. His mind raced with the events of the past week or so. He was plagued with bad news for days, but as of lately Abruzicstan's success in Orion has picked up. Nonetheless, any help would have been appreciated he though, especially from a close friend.

"Orion continues to be hammered daily by bombardments. I fear the people of the south are in desperate need of some form of help. Evacuations into the neighboring state of Kuiper have been massive almost daily, our response team is overwhelmed. Getting to the point, the civilians of Orion need help the most."

Taking a glass from the table and sipping it softly, he continued.

"As far as military help. The Abruzzi Special Forces seem to be handling the situation on their own. A ground invasion involving two seperate forces seem unnecessary at this time, despite some struggles near the Orion/Kuiper border. I will admit though, any more help that Belmont would be willing to send would end this conflict faster."

"Mr. President, I am happy to see that your armed forces have upped the pace of operations against the insurgents. Its truly good to see that. But, I assume, the internally displaced population must be taking a toll on the government financially. To aid you there, I will push a request through Parliament to send finances to the government for the situation there. How does five hundred million francs sound?" she asked looking at the man. "Also, we could get Parliament to grant the Abruzzi military discounts on purchases from the NDI..." she added. So far, the situation did not warrant Belmont's entry into the conflict and Shahrazad would do all in her power to make sure the Abruzzi government got what it needed.

OOC: Divide it by 1.25 to get the figure in USD.

He listened contently to her proposals, taking another sip of his drink and setting it down slowly on the desk next to him. There was a pause, mulling it over in his mind for a bit. The proposal's she had offered we're incredibly generous indeed. He began to nod.

"Not to an accept such an offer would be a grave mistake Ms. Shahrazad. I thank you and your Government kindly for such assistance. It sounds perfect. I hope your generosity towards our cause continues even after the situation in Orion has diminished, for I'm sure we will need as much help as ever afterwards."

She nodded. "Of course I understand that its the post conflict issues that make or break the situation. As long as your government manages to keep a hold of the situation and does its best to keep the problem an internal problem and stop it from spreading in the region, Belmont shall keep supporting you in every way possible. Also, I would like to suggest that Belmontien army advisors are sent to your country to train your forces in counter-insurgency tactics..." she paused looking at him to answer.

He hesitated, but answered.

"I don't see why not Ms. Shahrazad, it sounds like an excellent idea. Shall there be anything else you wish to discuss?"
