[OOC: Better late than never.]

"Gentlemen, the Imperial Minister of War and Foreign Affairs."

The aid gave a quick subservient bow to the assembled audience before stepping aside, not without first giving a quick glance to the motionless guards in full combat gear positioned on either side of the podium, between the seats rows and near the entrance. Press conferences in the Imperial Diet building were always a paranoid affair that caused quite a hassle for the journalists that had been permitted to attend as well as the organizing bureaucrats.

"Thank You."

The calm and gentle voice of the middle-aged man filled the room as he stepped onto the microphone, his fingers carefully tipping on top of it before he withdrew his hands to cross them behind his back. The old-fashioned glasses silently muster the journalists, rest for a moment on one of the assault rifles displayed by the bodyguards, before the voice is heard again.

"I have invited you here today to give your media the possibility to receive first-hand information about our ongoing activities in Jizhou and to a limited extend in Ratomkira. Rest assured, I will keep myself to the point. Nobody will miss their flight home."

For a second the face turns into a smile before it returns to the same neutral gaze with a readjustment of the glasses.

"After that, questions pertaining current issues of the Empire will be permitted."

"Our campaign in Jizhou is ongoing. Our commitment to the security of the area remains absolute. Last month, my ministry approved a significant increase in the humanitarian aid budget to Jizhou, to ease the worst suffering of the civilian population. The humanitarian situation is strained, but not critical, and our forces on the ground are trying to actively create conditions in which the Yiyuan Clique will not be able to deprive the Jizhou people of their right to a life free of terror anymore. Great progress has been made, but a lot of progress still has to be done. Together with our allies in the League of Free States and Jizhou loyalist forces, we are struggling to remove the Yiyuan Clique from power and restore a legitimate government to power in the Republic of Jizhou.

In the last weeks, we have increasingly resulted to air strikes to take out the military-industrial complex fueling the Yiyuan war machinery. Ultimately it is our hope that the hopeless military situation together with the complete deprivation of access to the world market as created by our blockade of the country will bring the Yiyuan Clique to the negotiation table and provide for an end of hostilities. Until then however, military operations will continue with full resolve. This is the policy of His Imperial Majesty's government and its allies. I speak in the name of the entirety of the League of Free States in this matter.

Likewise, our commitment to the legitimate government in Ratomkira stays strong. We are in close consultation with our Ratomkiran allies and have provided them with the help they have requested in the form of aerial assistance. We continue to urge the illegal clique that has encroached upon the northern part of that country to cease its resistance and integrate itself into the legal political framework of the Ratomkiran nation. This government is determined to not leave the Ratomkiran people to the agitation of violent extremists, and we are carefully assessing our options in regards to the Ratomkiran incident."

"I think we shall take a small break here to allow for some questions to be answered."

A Virtuous Republic :: Dav Kortori

Waving his notepad about like the conductor of an orchestra, the outspoken Mister Kortori stood up slowly to greet the podium, as well as most of Europe, occupying Oikawan.

"Thank you Mister Minister" he cracked without meaning it, "Will you personally, or any ranking member of this administration, confess that the hawkish expedition made in thwarting armed opposition or imperial insubordination, is in fact a reflection of Oikawa's same eagerness to persecute competing interests and ideologies?" Dav Kortori knew he was striking a vein in the East, and for the time being had no concern for the risk of a knee jerk reaction.

"With that in mind, would it be fair to say that this insurrection is a clear signal that most citizens are rejecting the policies your Government sustains, or is that not the impression you are getting from all of this?" Kortori said with a half-confident nod, taking his seat abruptly as his own nerves finally made themselves known to him.

Yoshikawa looked down on his hands as the Ziv began to speak, brushing over the palm of his right hand with a gentle motion of his left hand, waiting for the man to finish. As Kortori finished his last sentence, he remained in that position for a while longer before facing up to the audience and then turned towards Kortori.

"Thank you for your question."

The minister gave a small nod to the man, accompanied by a hint of a smile.

"I think I speak for my colleagues as well when I say that nobody in this administration will ever lie to the public by admitting to something that this administration does not seek to undertake. His Imperial Majesty's government has no interest in embarking on armed adventures across the globe, which would on that note also be unbefitting of the sole remaining superpower on this globe.

Now, if you by chance referred to the ongoing security operations in the Republic of Jizhou, which I assume you did not as they do not have the character of a hawkish expedition, then I can say firmly that the Empire is determined to fight threats to peace, prosperity and our way of life. Just as we see it as the natural right of the people of, say, Germania, to live their lives as they see fit, the people of liberated Touyou reserve their right to live in accordance with the values paramount to ourselves. The imperial policy of co-existence holds true and will continue to hold true as long as it will be accepted and respected."

The Oikawan official paused, glanced to the side, into the backstage area not visible to the audience, leaving it up to them to guess what he was looking at.

"To address your second question.."

He turned his face back to the audience.

"There are quite obviously no insurrections or else I wouldn't be standing here, and you couldn't sit here. The people of the Empire of Greater Oikawa quite clearly are apparently quite satisfied with the policies of this government, wouldn't you agree?"

"Shimotaya Erika," called out the young lady with a voice much bigger than herself, "Het Verre Oosten." She bowed slightly and adjusted her small librarian's glasses before asking her carefully-worded question, "Your Excellency, has your Ministry considered the two-state solution or an autonomy arrangement offered by Premier Li's Nationalist government? Something along the lines of a special administrative arrangement as in Liuxi or Fudan?"

She bowed once more for good measure.
