The article OOC: Intelligence Agencies now provide you with the basic information to get your clandestine operations up and running. Head right over and check it out! On that note I would also encourage those inclined to write tutorial posts to also put them into that category, marking them in the same fashion (OOC: Blabla) to avoid accidental linking in IC posts.

Have fun!

Started a basic description thread of my intelligence operations that are currently ongoing. Not sure how much detail to provide so I've just done a basic overview for now. When I start to ramp this up for whatever reason, do I just add new posts to my thread?

I have never seen any evidence of intelligence on this forum to be honest.

The system is flawed.

The fact that player-mods are the ones to administer the intelligence system makes it disbalanced. Say, if Kiev is part of the intelligence mods, then if I want to invade Kiev, he, the player, will know it. However, if I want to invade Engellex, he, the player, will not know it. The disbalance of knowledge between the different participants is self-evident.

The idea is good. However, it's implementation suffers from the aforementioned flaws and, I deem, needs the participation of non-player-mods.

I'm an intelligence mod????

Asking for non-player mods is a asking a lot. Where we going to find people who are willing to be informed about the game, but not actually play?

Kryo doesn't play, Kapi doesn't play, any number of other lurkers with experience do not play.

Assuming they can bothered to do this, when they don't even want to play the game...

I think it's important for us not to undermine your efforts to get more active, Kyiv. Kryo is the logical choice as a non-player and non-leader.

I just don't like how it's "game master" driven. I don't like the idea of a secret d&d like thread. It doesn't help that the process isn't transparent. With the history the forum has in suspect actions against player not in the clique or special treatment to oldfags. Additionally the system requires everyone to participate for it to be effective. If I don't make a thread then I have a better chance to maintain better defenses against spies. So, I think the process is a bit flawed.

Not really - you will still have to write about your mobilization and such somewhere, after all. Information about your military projects, other plans etc. will be drawn from other sources than your non-existent intelligence thread then, so you do not really benefit from not maintaining an intelligence thread, you are merely losing your ability to conduct offensive and defensive intelligence actions.

Are you feeling a bit feverish today Kansas?

The idea I was an intel mod, or going to be one, exists only in Wendmarks head. But my point that relying on people who are to busy to play to moderate any forum secret or otherwise is a bit odd, stands. If they don't have enough time to RP will they have enough time to keep up with IC events? And what if they want to become active again? We don't have that many regular lurkers.

If anyone wants to volunteer as a non-player mod, they can go nuts. They should be removed from the map though.

I kind of say the same negative things about you and Kryo all the time, so I wouldn't classify this outburst as very unique.

About actual leaders and players though, it's obvious that this system will not work perfectly on day one. There will have to be wiggle room for players adapting, and moderators pioneering the bounds of what should be allowed.

I think this is a valid contention, but I also think it can be easily met with some system of accountability. Maybe like: results of espionage acts written out by mods have to be approved before they enter the game arena, etc. I dunno, just giving my two cents on this particular matter.
