Pelasgian Empire
Office of the Prime Minister
Private Dispatch

16th of October, 1956
To the attention of the Right Honourable Anatolio Stathos, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Aegada

Your Excellency,

Our two Nations have the fortune of sharing the most noble and ancient of languages and cultures, along with a unique position of the two coasts of the Long Sea. Yet, for so many centuries, this exact position has not only acted as a chance for us to communicate, but as a division between us. On our part, we find this to be a most unfortunate arrangement, which we should do our best to rectify as soon as possible. At the same time, it cannot be ignored that, in recent years, our region has found itself in a rather precarious position, something which is all the more concerning if one were to consider the deep importance of the Long Sea for international commerce, diplomacy, and culture. With that in mind, it is my privilege and honour to invite you to the Imperial Capital, Propontis, so that we may have the chance to discuss the ways in which our proud Realms can be brought closer to one another at last. I eagerly await your response.

Signed and Sealed,

Sophoklēs A. Kravatas

Prime Minister
Pelasgian Empire

Your Excellency,

The history of our two countries have been in some form or another connected, and I humbly and gratefully accept the invitation to travel to your capital Propontis. The current situations occurring in regions like Scania and the Kalahari Sea have worried several officials here in Aegada. We hope to accomplish many things while there, especially in regards to trade and diplomacy. I hope these talks will be fruitful and lead to a prosperous and long lasting friendship between our nations.

Signed and Sealed,

Anatolio Stathos

Prime Minister
Kingdom of Aegada

Kantakouzēnos Mansion, Propontis, Themer of Phryxaea, Pelasgian Empire

Megaron Kantakouzēnou, also known as Kantakouzēnos Mansion to foreigners, had served as the principal residence of the Propontine Grand Logothetes and the Pelasgian Prime Ministers who succeeded them since the 19th century, when the prominent Propontine lawyer Dēmētrios Kantakouzēnos, of the famed noble family of Pelasgian statesmen, scientists, sovereigns, and intellectuals, donated the mansion to the Pelasgian state to serve as the residence of the Empire's Heads of Government, the Grand Logothete of the time being a close friend of Kantakouzēnos. It was one of the finest specimens of Anthenean Neoclassical Style in existence, being academically correct right down to the colouring of its marble in comparison to actual ancient Pelasgian structures. Doric pillars and pillasters adorned its interior and exterior, for, the Propontine Empire, just like the Tiburans, had always favoured the Cydrelian style, while the Classicists had always preferred Ionic, with the city having been founded by Dorians from Anaktōra, making the Doric style an obvious and more historically respectful compromise. Inside the Megaron, the Prime Minister, Sophoklēs A. Kravatas waited for his counterpart from Aegada, who was being driven there by a motorcade after having been received at the airport by an honour guard and a group of appropriate officials.

Propontis International Airport

Prime Minister Anatolio Stathos was coming in from a landing on his private jet, provided by the government for the purpose of conducting international diplomacy. He motioned for the stewardess to come to him and he asked, "How much longer till we land?" "Only a few more minutes sir."

In those ten minutes he went over a few things in his notebook, simple notes that he kept about the small differences in the culture and customs. Culturally Aegada was more similar to that of Greece than the Byzantium Empire, but other than that they were very, very similar culturally. They glided and landed, slightly bumpy but the runway was well maintained and was a soft pleasant landing. He steps of the plane to with his charismatic smiling and waving, he was unsure whether the arrival would be televised but nonetheless he continued down the stairs until he reached the honor guard. They were on both sides of the the ramp leading out to a group of officials, as he walked by he saluted the soldiers to his right. He continued walking till he was received by the officials of Pelasgia, "A pleasure to finally be here, I am Prime Minister Stathos as you have probably been told," he said as he shook the hand of the eldest one there. He continued walking and talking toward the motorcade that was up ahead.

The Prime Minister had not been waiting too long when the motorcade arrived outside the Mageron. There had always a rather positive feeling for the Aegeadans, despite their slight cultural "peculiarities" (in the eyes of the rather snobby citizens of Pelasgian capital, at least), so there was not any semblance of a disturbance outside. Even if there had been ill feelings, the Propontines were to proud to actually stain their reputation in such a way. Indeed, the welcoming of the foreign dignitaries and the friendly exchange of handshakes and comments, with a quick moment for the cameras to capture all of this, was followed by a rather pleasant entry into the Megaron. There, local delicacies served by the Empire's finest chefs were served, to give the two delegations something to chew on while discussing business. At some point the Krevatas turned to Stathos.

"So, Mr. Stathos, I hope the food is satisfactory. I've heard that the food on your side of the Long Sea is even better than ours, so I must apologise if it fails to live up to your standards in any way. To make up for it, I'd like to ask you to select our first topic of discussion. Hospitality and dinner-table discussion are among the hallmarks of our warm culture, after all."

(OOC: feel free to tell me if I'm going too fast. I just wanted to get the pomp and the formalities out of the way. ;) )

(OOC- Your fine, I understand no fluff just getting down to business kinda stuff)

The ride to Megaron was a pleasant one, the city was beautiful full of such history.

"The food is delightful Mr. Krevatas, we take pride in such skills, not to mention it helps woo the ladies." He paused then continued after taking a few bites, "I feel we should discuss some form of alliance between our fine nations, with all the tension going on. I feel that things will continue to escalate without end, and I fear for the safety of my people just as any leader should."

"I am delighted that the food satisfies you." the Prime Minister said, before drinking some wine and continuing; "Indeed, I have sadly come to share your fears. There are no two nations with closer bonds than our own. In that respect, I would certainly agree with your proposal for an alliance. In fact, I was considering the idea of helping your nation to strengthen Her armed forces, via helping to train and equip them, if it is necessary."

"Yes, some joint military exercises would greatly help us prepare for certain events that may occur sooner than we like." He took a sip of wine and continued, "Some more advanced equipment and tanks would also be beneficial, we are not known for our military prowess."

"Of course, anything that would help you could be provided with the appropriate arrangements. With that in mind, a cooperation between our intelligence services would also seem to be a good idea."

"A sharing of intelligence would only serve to benefit both of us, as your enemies are ours, and ours yours."

"I was wondering, what are your thoughts on a trade agreement? Reduced tariffs and tax incentives for business cooperation between our nations would sound like a great way to have our friendship positively impact our citizens' daily lives."

"I would support the notion for a trade agreement, Aegada has always relied on imports for most goods. And with a new market of goods it will greatly benefit us, we would be able to provide you with more agricultural goods."

"That's great to hear. Would you also be interested in a cultural cooperation? Museum & student exchanges, joint concerts, expositions, that sort of thing."

"The history in Aegada is that of cultural importance, I would be glad to have museum exchanges between our two countries as well as student exchanges among other things. My biggest fear is if war does break out we would have to safely return the students to their parents, and protect ancient relics we would exchange."

"I share your concern, though our nations are close enough that we should not be in too much danger of failing, should such an unfortunate event occur. Are there any further subjects you wish to discuss?"

"No I believe we have covered everything." He paused and took a sip of his wine, "Now we must put this into paper and make this official."

"Of course." The Pelasgian Prime Minister signed the papers of the new treaty, before gifting medals of friendship to the Aegadan Prime Minister and the rest of the Aegadan delegation, as a sign of the two countries' new relationship.
