James Dillon VICTORIOUS Second Term
Men of James Party Succeeds in Achieving a Governing Majority

The Union Journals of James are pleased to inform that Charles Thomas James Dillon, of the Men of James Party, has been re-elected Prime Minister of Confederated Jacomus, with a relatively narrow lead over northern favourite James Napper Tandy and his Ascendancy Party.

Confirmation of the Prime Minister's successful bid for a second term came in the form a public address from Maynooth Castle in Kildare. The results of the election were announced by the Speaker of the Confederate Assembly Henry Munro, in a broadcast to millions across the Confederation from the traditional location on the steps of the Assembly Chamber.

Prime Minister Dillon's victory appears to have surprised a number of independent political polling groups, who had published results just days ago to show that popular opinion appeared to favour the Ascendancy Party and James Napper Tandy in most of the densely populated constituencies of the north and central country, including across Dillon County. It would appear however, that Prime Minister Dillon's platform of continued increases in funding for healthcare, along with further investment in strengthening infrastructure have swayed opinion significantly in continued times of economic uncertainty and strained relations with the wider world.

The Men of James Party secured a solid 54.2% of all votes cast, down 5.6% on their previous majority over the Ascendancy Party in the last election. Dillon's victory was followed closely by the nearest opposition James Napper Tandy, and his party, who collected 39.7% of all votes cast. Third in the running for election was the United Party led by William Drennan, who secured 5.1% of votes vast, with the remaining votes dispersed among minor parties.

When contacted for comment, James Napper Tandy appeared in good spirits, undisturbed by election defeat and smiling as he offered his congratulations to Prime Minister Dillon, commenting that while the bid of my party for a victorious governing majority wasn't successful this time around, we will continue to do our part for the people of the Confederation, and make every day in opposition count.

Meanwhile in Kildare, Prime Minister Dillon lauded his opposition, paying particular attention to Tandy, commenting that while Mr Tandy may not have succeeded in his bid for the Office this time, it will be a pleasure to work with him going forward, and my admiration for him and his party for their unfaltering dedication to the Confederated Jacomus remains as strong as ever.
