:!: Parliament Agrees to Take Refugees
The House of Commons has agreed to take 2,500 Surian refugees from the Tishonga Refugee camp outside of Nouveau Port. Under the terms of the agreement, the refugees will be given temporary residency visas, with the option of applying for permanent visas or even citizenship. The refugees will be provided with a housing subsidy, and will be given job training and language education.

With the elections for the House of Commons less than a week away, campaigning is entering into high gear. As of now the National Peoples’ Party (NPP) is narrowly leading the Free Liberal Party (FLP). Current projections give the NPP a slight majority, assuming no third party gains any seats. Though the FLP has been narrowing their lead throughout the election, and may overtake them by election day.

:!: Election Results In—Hung Parliament
KNT can now project that the election has resulted in a hung parliament. Both the NPP and the FLP have fallen short of 76 seats needed to form a majority. The NNP has won 72 seats, and the FLP 71. The remaining 8 seats were divvied up between 4 Social Democrats, 2 Greens, and 2 independents. This is the first time in over 20 years that no party has held an absolute majority in the House of Commons. It is likely that the two major Parties will be trying to sway the smaller ones to form a coalition government. Many politicos have said that what separates us from Radilo is our two party system… well, tonight we have learned that we are more like our neighbor then we previously though.

:!: Liberals Cut Deal with Social Dems and Greens
With the slimmest of majorities, the FLP/SD/Green coalition will have 77 seats out of the 151 in the House of Commons. Paules Des'vuvu, leader of the Liberals in Parliament will likely be named Prime Minister by Kata King Kuba'kissi sometime today. Des'vuvu has said that he will initiate in a sires of economic reforms, aimed at liberalizing and modernizing the economy, which has been stagnant for years.

:!: Des'vuvu Sworn in as Prime Minister
In an elaborate ceremony in front the Parliament Building Kata King Kuba'kissi, in full royal regalia, formally made Paules Des'vuvu his Prime Minister. After the swearing in, Des'vuvu made his inaugural address, in which he outlined his plans to modernize the economy and expand trade. He said that as prime minister he will develop infrastructure, relax economic regulation, and offer tax incentives and expand funding to local businesses, entrepreneurs, and farmers.
