DAY OF TERROR IN ST. WILHELMSSTADT AS 758 FEARED DEAD

Today her majesty went into labour giving birth to a healthy daughter named Augusta-Maria in Charlebourg Hospital. The Government has said that they will do all they can to help stop such acts of violence with some viewing the possible campaign in Bolonesvia as a way to punish those who follow such a harmful ideology. Tonight over a petition has received over 50,000 signatures calling for the government to take immediate action. Johann Daas Chief of Staff and Secretary-General of the VPMLU has received threats with his house having objects thrown at it and his wife and children being threatened. After stability returned it is leaving us again with fears of a Second 'Glorious Revolution' on it's way that's why the government has today announced over the next 3 years over $3 billion will be put into the military with the armed forces expected to bolster it's forces. Some people took to the streets burning photos of Kristoffer Hanrach who signed the '10 points' deal with the Kadikistani's other had huge signs showing the 10 points which they burned. Despite yesterdays attacks the government has allowed the Party Congress of the VPMLU to go on. The VPMLU lit candles in remembrance of those lost and has formally denounced those who use violence to try and achieve the 'Glorious Revolution' . There has been some annoyance among the people in St. Wilhelmsstadt due to two nations Kadikistan and Gouw Marken the latter which has living standards compared to that of the 1500s claiming that Veniasufian agents planned the attacks in the Capital.

Also in the News... The government today announced it is selling 13 Pandora X's and 12 Athena II's to the Justinian Air Force for 75% of the original price this is to bolster the defence of our nations 'Best Friend' as some politicians call it.

"After a thorough analysis of the recent policy changes of the Veniasufian government we must draw drastic conclusions. The continuing repression against the Veniasufian Marxist-Leninovist movement, the cancellation of joint construction efforts and now the massive delivery of military equipment to the belligerent Justinian regime has forced us to unilaterally withdraw from the '10 Point Treaty'. We can and will not endure any more daggers in our backs from the mysterious forces controlling the Veniasufian political life, turning it against Marxist-Leninovism and Kadikistan despite our best effort to bring our two nations closer together. Veniasufia has proven itself as unreliable as Justiza when the latter came to us in early January and we will not make the same errors again. It saddens us that our best efforts to improve both our nations political and economic positions in the region have irreversibly failed. We do not cancel our economic cooperation with the unstable nation of Veniasufia, but we do no longer have mutual political and military goals.

The VPMLU is urged to utilise this years congress to re-evaluate their role in the current Veniasufian government. Given the prestige of the party we will not force a dictate upon them at this time. But surely they would never agree to something as counter-productive for the International movement as a massive shipment of military aircraft towards Justiza, which has recently began heavy investments in its armed forces threatening the Status Quo in the Kalahari Sea. We also point out that power-hungry members of the establishment have committed a disgusting attack against their own people in order to turn popular support away from the VPMLU and its movements. Clearly the influence and ability to affect the Veniasufian elite is practically non-existent, which leaves us to doubt the justification of the coalition as a part of 'Marxist-Leninovism with Veniasufian Characteristics'. We trust the VPMLU will consider these insights dearly over the coming days and report back to us with either the clear advantages of their participation in the government that justifies the continuation of the coalition or that they will abandon it and return to peaceful opposition. But if the VPMLU can not so much as hold back the passing of that treacherous military deal with Justiza as a member of the government then we view their position as untenable."

Today the government has announced that they will take over East Calidia Mining Company the company which is the nations largest has been struggling as of late due to less demand for Coal as Oil becomes the nations primary electricity source some say the plan is to slowly lay off the companies 150,000 workers and try to get as many working in the oil drilling industry. Calidia which has some of the largest coal reserves in the country is set to take a massive blow to it's already small economy with the government encouraging workers from the area to move west for better opportunities the City of Gottenhaffen is expecting over 500,000 Calidians to move there over the next five years with the number of skyscrapers in the city set to double as it grows. Some Calidian Independence fighters believe that the government is going to use the abandoned towns to build military 'cities' as they're calling them where thousands of soldiers will be stationed the government has denied this and said it was part of a large urbanisation project aiming to have 3/4 of the nation living in cities by 1980.

The government has also today announced a plan to build 5 'mega-hospitals' which will be able to treat thousands this plan was spearheaded by Johann Daas Secretary-General of the VPMLU he said it will help workers across the nation who need healthcare. He is also spearheading a project for new mothers to recieve 20 weeks time off with 60% pay when they have babies this is currently being reviewed by the Treasury.

Today the government has announced the creation of a new elite task force named Securitas 1 it's aim will be to protect the nation it will be seperate from the government and be allowed to use 'unconventional' means to receive funding the government has said the force will be separate from the military and any actions it takes are not in the name of Veniasufia.

Communist Leader killed in Violent Fascist assassination

Late last night in the Strubelplatz area of St. Wilhelmsstadt Johann Daas leader of the VPMLU was murdered in a bloody assassination by a Fascist group with possible links to the Cumbrian Government. The attackers were killed by members of the Peoples Militia, two men from the Peoples Militia were arrested but have been acquitted of any crimes after five judges agreed they acted in self-defence. Augusto Martino, a former Lt. Col in the Army, has resumed his role as Secretary-General, he has strongly spoken out against the coalition with the government and has said he plans to have any ministers from his party resign. Following Johann's death the role of Chief of Staff has been dissolved indefinitely and the Welfare Ministry has also been dissolved until further notice.

Today over 150,000 young men will wake up to letters calling them up to join the armed forces, this comes as tensions soar in the East and as Europe's relative stability continues to crumble. The PM has said that he would not do this unless he saw a threat to national security. The men are chose through a relatively simple system in which the names are randomly chosen from a database of men under the age of 25.

Also... The government has re-affirmed it's power winning confidence in the Upper and Lower houses this has been seen as a massive boost to stability. They have also today reinstated the Welfare Ministry with Henrietta Gronig receiving the position.

Today the Queen inspected troops at the military High Command in Wadem-Aulsburg she then went to South Calidia to Kovina Military Base where she watched military exercises take place and met with Gen. George Valhalla who will soon be given the distinction of Marshal of the Veniasufian Empire. The queen then made a televised address thanking those who had recently joined the military to serve their nation when it was facing foreign aggression.

A recent study by Augusta Imperial University has found that more women are entering the work force. The current percentage of women over the age of 30 in work is 61%.

Today the Gryfyn Steel Plant in Calidia has announced it has made profits of $3.7 million this is after months of uncertainty over the plants future. Also today East Calidia mining company has announced it will reduce the number of staff being laid off after an accountancy blunder meant they were going to have to lay off over 100,000 workers to return to profit the accountant at the company has reportedly been fired after the embarrassing blunder the company which employs 300,000 was originally planning to lay off half of it's staff but has since cancelled the plan until further notice this will lift a massive weight off of many workers backs and no doubt boost morale and productivity.

Today the Government committed an extra 5,000 troops to the Calidia Corps after Communist Insurgents stole valuable military equipment from a convoy on it's way to a base outside of Aberdwyff. The Army is currently looking for intelligence on the location of the insurgents bases in hopes of sending airstrikes to destroy the stolen hardware. Today the Governor of New Danebourg, Isadora Smith has arrived in St. Wilhelmsstadt to meet with the Prime Minister. This is over renewed pushes by the Government of New Danebourg to become a part of Mehldorf and create a United Kingdom of Mehldorf as they called it. This would massively increase the official size of Mehldorfian territory and would lead to more money flowing into the economy. New Danebourg and the surrounding islands are know for there rather large oil deposits and recently Pearl fishing has begun to blossom again in the area.

The current Government of New Danebourg began this push earlier this year calling for a referendum on both sides to determine the future of the Dominion. However, there was some uproar when the only two options proposed for the ballot were to either Unite with Mehldorf or become independent leading to anger amongst the population which prefer the current arrangement. Many Nationalists in New Danebourgs parliament have called been angered over the referendum and Anti-Imperialist sentiment has been rising in the area with 23% of people polled preferring an independent New Danebourg.

Blast In Aberdwyff Kills Many
​

Today a blast at Finnigan's bar in Aberdwyff happened. The bombing which is suspected to be an attack by the People's Militia has one known casualty, the Deputy Melnick Finnigan. The bar which is owned by his company is said to just be rubble and shards of glass. The exact number of casualties is not yet known but everyone is expected to be dead. Police have named Thomas Furhauser as a possible suspect after neighbours reported strange behaviour, and strange noises coming from his property. The Calidia police department is set to release a statement tomorrow.

Athena II enters service

Today the Athena II strategic bomber entered service with the Air Force, it will be allowed to deploy on missions on the 21st of July and is expected to take part in the governments operations to counter Marxist extremism in the Calidia area. The Queen who attended the annual Liberation Day Parade in St. Wilhelmsstadt today saw the bomber flyer over and was seen to have a smile on her face after looking at her air force's wonderful new weapon. The Liberation day parade celebrates the day the people revolted against the evil Linester regime and some have called this a fitting addition to the armed forces on such a day.[/FONT]​

Today the Government announced it would be meeting with communist forces that have took over East Calida. They said the aim of the talks would be to set out a clear path to give the nation independence. Many have criticised the government for negotiating with communists and putting Kadikistan on our borders but Prime Minister Anders Fischer said "If we give the Calidian people the independence they so desire then we will put ourselves in a better position for future relations with Kadikistan as the main part of the nation which supports Communism has been allowed to take up that path as an independent country". He also said "The Government is now forecasting for the economy to shrink this year as the independence will see 3 million people lost from our economy and as such we are expecting an economic slump before the economy rises the year after". As he left the press conference it seemed to hit him that he was the man that had brought down years of a United Mehldorfean state.​

NCAO opens investigation into major airlines

The National Commercial Aerospace Organisation today announced they will be holding an investigation into several major Mehldorfean Airlines. The main airline under investigation is Air Royale which has had many air hostess' report sexual abuse and harassment in one case an air hostess was raped by the co-pilot repeatedly before she was fired over inappropriate conduct and in another case the chief air host forced an air hostess' to go to the bathroom with a passenger where she was mutilated and murdered, that incident went unreported and there are fears that over 50 air hostess' could have been murdered and the police haven't been told. Many Air Hostess' have tried to organise a union to combat such actions but Mehldorfean law allows for companies to fire employees that organise unions or demonstrations, some companies have made don't tell policies which have allowed these incidents to carry on. NCAO has been given six months by the parliament to conduct all necessary assessments before they have to reveal the final report.

Royal Bank of Mehldorf elects new Governor

Today the Royal Bank of Mehldorf's announced it's next governor The bank's Council met on Friday where they elected James Benheim as the banks next Governor, he defeated Louis Petain-Allouette, the current governor, for the position, however, Petain only ran in the election for governor due to technicalities which mean there must be more than one candidate for an election to be fair. Petain is expected to resign his seat on the Royal Advisory Council by the end of this month to allow his successor the chance to inform the government on economic policy. Benheim, his successor, is a member of the infamous Benheim family one of the richest families in Mehldorf and controllers of the largest number of seats in the executive body of Royal Mehldorf Petroleum.The Parliament will meet tomorrow to listen to Louis Petain-Allouette's resignation speech and to commend him on his work over the past 7 years.​
