Government announces increase in refugee quota

Following the outbreak of civil war in Tarusa and Csgenia the Revolutionary Socialist Workers' Party has voted and passed a bill doubling the Republic's annual refugee quota of three thousand, Our Premier Léon Cahun being among the loudest voices calling for a more interventionist and globally active Bezonvaux " For too long we have remained focused on internal matters and on Gallia, we cannot ignore the pleas of our fellow proletariat". There were some among the party who argued that increasing the numbers of refugee's admitted represented a heightened risk to the nation's security but despite this those in favour of the bill won with a clear majority.

Force Publique breaks smuggling ring!

Following months of extensive planning and information gathering the Force Publique has announced the capture of a large number of black marketeers and smugglers and the seizure of several tonnes of illegal material mainly drugs and firearms smuggling into the Republic from " a number of foreign countries". Area Commander for Mont-Libre Mireille Deat has spoken to the nation's press declaring " While the Force Publique has managed to capture this smuggling ring, the people of Bezonvaux must continue to be on guard for any subversive or illegal activity and be sure to pass on any information to the Force Publique".
