Establishing Nation
OOC: I know that without a doubt a number of the weapons I have claimed have been claimed by others. I don't care. I've seen people claim 3 to 4 types of the same type of land system of the same generation. I have however tried to make an effort to keep my claims reasonable, and not infringing on anyone person's claims in particular (i.e. claiming everything from Heckler & Koch when Wiese has done that as well).
Since the end of the Great War, the Levantine States has been one of the countries with the most advanced industry, capable of developing modern technology. A large high-tech sector, combined with a sizeable industry has meant that the Levant has been able to produce most of it's weapons indigineously mostly through a number of large arms conglomerates. The border between business and government can become quite blurry, and as such the Levantine government has to approve all weapons exports, which is done by the Commission of Weapons Exportation.
The CWE, a body composed of both top diplomats and important officials and technicians in the Levantine Armed Forces judge whether or not a weapons export is acceptable based on the technology involved, the government that is involved and the relations that the Levant holds with such a nation. In some cases the entire possibility of arms trade can be rejected, in other cases only a number of arms sales are permissible. The sale of blueprints or licenses for production is also run by the CWE. Nations (regardless of past or current administrations) who have in the past reverse-engineered Levantine designs are blacklisted. In certain cases, arrangements can be made for weapons currently in use with the Levantine military to be sold if the weapons are needed within weeks rather then months.
While unit prices are given, a final price on the entire order is calculated by the CWE, including a government tariff, transport costs and production costs, prices are decided upon at the judgement of the CWE and the manufacturer. Reduced prices are given to AGE nations, nations participating in the AGE Partnership for Peace Program, and loyal AGE/Levantine allies. Licenses and blueprints can be negotiated over, and prices for these are determined on a case-by-case basis.
