Faith Alliance condemns "harassment" of party members and clergy
The Alleanza della Fede has issued a formal complaint to the Eiffellander Occupation Authorities over the actions of liberal student activists and journalists from La Stampa Libera, who have been conducting late-night visits to clergymen and party members openly opposed to homosexuality to demonstrate the potentially invasive consequences of sodomy laws. In a letter to the Eiffellander Occupation Authorities, which can be found in today's edition of Gazetta di Torrenza, the conservative rival to the La Stampa Libera, the Alliance described the visits as "harassment" and "intimidation" and urged the Eiffellander military to intervene and protect both Solaris clergy and Faith Alliance supporters.
The Faith Alliance has been at the forefront of the campaign to restore the sodomy laws after they were suspended by the Solaren National Congress in an attempt to resolve the dispute between Count Stefano di Perugia, leader of the Social-Liberal Party, and the Torrence Gazette, which had accused Count di Perugia of engaging in homosexual acts. Many of its members believe homosexuals should be executed if proven to be sexually active, as dictated by the Book of Leviticus and implemented by the old Regime.
La Stampa Libera is known to be sympathetic to the aims of the Social-Liberal Party, both of which have been accused of being close to the Eiffellander Occupation Authorities by the Faith Alliance, which also demands the immediate withdrawal of all occupying powers.
The letter published by the Gazetta di Torrenza was accompanied by a list of journalists and students, who are all believed to attend institutions established by the Eiffellander Occupation Authorities, suspected of involvement with investigations into the private lives of Solaris clergy and Faith Alliance supporters. There are now concerns those named may be the focus of a new campaign targeting those in favour of relaxed treatment of homosexuals.
