I forgot who put in the edict to ban alliance adverts.

The alliances simply gradually evolved to be more restrictive about new members, although I would actually like to see a return to when I came here when everybody was in a alliance, hell even the neutrals had their own alliance (DAT/UAP).

Its true I've been considering forming a Non-Aligned Movement amongst the neutral developing powers, and inviting Kyiv or someone similar to be a sort of "Big Daddy" who'll fund/arm us weakling neutrals. Plus I like the idea of small nations clubbing together and saying, "pick on one of us, you pick on all of us."

Also, the Himyar Freedom Alliance seems to be an alternative powerbloc for Colonial/Colonised Powers in Himyar...

Hey,

Been lurking around here for awhile. As the mods have seen fit to grant me posting powers now, here I am. Not been here before but have some RP experience at various govsims.

As far as my nation, loosely based on the Kurds (along w/ the UAE), mostly Islamic but with a more significant Christian presence than the Kurds have. Ethnically and linguistically distinct from neighbors. The nation will be made of 13 united Emirates, 11 Muslim 2 Christian. Despite the religious differences nation is generally held together by a strong national/ethnic identity, but minor border conflicts along Christian and Islamic Emirates are not unheard of (mostly over grazing/water rights between farmers). The 13 Emirs (or Princes in the Christian provinces) gather in the Council of Emirs, and select the Shah who is the leader of the United Emirates of Cakistan. The Shahs power is limited though to national issues and Emirates enjoy a large degree of independence at this time. A rubber stamp parliament exists with two chambers, one elected and one appointed.

Welcome, and I hope you pick a map spot near me, I would love to have you in the HFA.

I am looking at a couple map spots in that area, I'll probably make a final decision when the new map comes out.

Ah, sounds like a mix of a almost Ba'athist state (I love the pan-Arab republics) with a bit of UAE mixed in. Would definitely be interesting to see how your military would function with the more stressed decentralized nature of your country. I always believe that weaknesses are what adds flavor to RP ;)

A more lengthy description will be forthcoming but, for now, I'll provide a general overview.

Australmaria will likely have begun as a Belmontien or Marquen (basically French) colony along the northern edges of plot 300 and named "The Land of the South Seas" due to its useful position on the West Implarian Ocean. The five major ethnic groups within Australmaria today will likely be Cajun French, Latin American Spanish, Irish Gaelic, Cherokee and Creole. The Gaels in particular would have been Pagan colonists escaping Dominican Catholic persecution in Eireann and political dissidents escaping Warre. As there are so many Dominican Catholic nations around in NSE today, I've decided to go for something more interesting and say that, due to Australmaria's reputation as an inhospitable jungle and swamp-infested land, the French authorities turned a blind eye to goings-on attracting a majority of French Huguenots and Lutherans during the Reformation fleeing from the Catholics. The Spanish, likely in the form of Frescania, would have settled the far more lucrative south as Spanish Australmaria which, in turn, would also become a haven for Spanish Protestants.

From there, I'm thinking some colonial wars occurred, land changed sides, maybe Spanish Australmaria fell to the French, French Australmaria fell to neighboring Anglyn, then to the Spanish, then back to Anglyn (with Anglyn's permission of course). At some point, enlightenment age thinkers would have rallied the diverse peoples of Australmaria into a war of independence against Anglyn, with the support of the Five Civilized Tribes, who are rewarded with their own state later on.

Economically, Australmaria was likely run as a strongly agrarian economy, stubbornly holding on to yeoman farming and a planter economy of cash crops during the early years of the Industrial Revolution, eventually revolutionizing to a point. While slavery is long-dead, the Creoles have spent at least a century in a state of both official and unofficial segregation, a matter still left to the states to decide. During the 20th century, Australmaria would have come under the direction of Peronism which would have used the nation's resource wealth to modernize the nation, concentrating on ship-building, aerospace and other manufacturing for industry and agriculture for the rest. I'll likely still RP it as a premier source for cotton, tobacco, sugar, coffee and the like. I need to work out my history with Anglyn, Frescania and one of the French nations. Feedback is good too.

Actually, no, I'm new to NSE and I've been RPing since 2004. I've just been reading up on the setting and history of NS-Europe before devising a plan for my nation and its history.
