I think the more realistic thing for you would be to have a banana republic where there is a government, but it is so corrupt that the main corporation can simply tell it what to do.

I thought about that, but I'm already pretty stuck on the idea where there's only one corporation.

Ethnic group is Korean.

Well, would there be a government? If this corporation has the power it has, it's likely it would have assumed the role of a government. I'm interested, but not sure how the international community would respond to such a nation.

Exactly. I doubt any legitimate state would recognize as such. So it would be a situation like the Banana republics of central america, where the companies called the shots, but the governments were kept around on the payroll to keep legitimacy.

I don't think it really matters how the international community responds to it, its how the investors and stock markets respond. They'd probably respond quite well. Firestone tires ran Sierra Leone for forever and a day until the civil war broke out.

Yujin would prop up the government to ensure that the company survives, assuming that said country allies with us or gives us some benefits. As they're Korean, I could use a military ally in the region. Esp. since the only other two "powers" in the region are anti-big business capitalism.

And sierra leone still had a "government" even if it was run by firestone.

I agree. A corporate state is nothing new. Look at India pre-1857, or South Africa in the early 20th century, or even Rhodesia.

A puppet government might exist, but even that isnt strictly necessary, as one could have a Corporatist state where shareholders determine who holds national power, and each citizen is granted a certain share that increased based on their contribution to the state. Admittedly thats not very capitalist, but neither really is monopoly.

I do believe there should be some sort of government just so you can claim being a legitimate nation. However, if willing, it is likely the Jurzani Government will be very interested in business deals with you because being a corporation, you'd presumably be less concerned with politics. If a profitable deal can be made, the Jurzan would support you.

I think I'm just going to stick with what I've got. I'm not particularly fond of the idea of banana republics, even if they really didn't rely on exporting agriculture like a real one would.

Oh and yes, we're not particularly interested in politics Jurzan. We're just interested in profits. Whatever the hell goes on elsewhere is none of our concern (at least, that's how I would imagine it). As for Yujin, I wouldn't mind being allies or business partners. Though we're not a very significant military ally, we only concern ourselves on border and internal securities.

At any rate, does anyone know a place where they allow suspicious figures or an exiled son of a CEO living without always having surveillance on their ass? Its for my story, I need a country to fill in where my current CEO's son has been living in, for the current plot I have going on.

I like what you're doing Munhwa. As for not being a military power, you can always trade with your allies, give them resources, and they will make sure you stay alive; a symbiotic relationship, you both would need each other. I can see that that would make some very interesting things happen, and I am looking forward to it. I'll throw my country's hat in the ring, for your consideration. My government is current held my an English minority, that not many citizens know much about, which are French. If you choose not to use mine, no hard feelings, I'm just trying to help, yeah know? Best of luck!

We are Britannia and Northern Ireland, a relatively new nation controlled by a not-so-new player. We're liberal and enthusiastically involved in the European Union. We believe in self-determination, personal freedoms are unlimited provided they don't harm others, and the right to freedom of speech is paramount. We're a democracy with a struggling economy, the monarchy being peacefully abolished about 30 years ago.
