ON THE HOSTILE ACTIONS BY THE TARUSAN EMPIRE IN THE NORTERRANEAN SEA

The Remurian Commonwealth condemns in the strongest terms possible the hostile actions by the Tarusan Empire in the waters of the Norterranean Sea, internationally referred to as the Bonaventura Bay.

The Remurian Commonwealth extends our deepest sympathies to the Crown and People of Ebria over the losses suffered as a result of the hostile actions by the Tarusan Empire.

In light of the above, the Remurian Commonwealth shall issue the following guidelines:

1. that no naval asset answering to the Tarusan Empire shall be allowed to enter Remurian territorial sea, regardless of innocent passage, and that no naval asset answerable to the Tarusan Empire shall be allowed to hail port at any Remurian facilities for resupply in food, medicines and fuel;

2. that should any naval assets answerable to the Tarusan Empire use the right of refuge in distress at Remurian facilities or within Remurian terrirorial sea, such shall be granted, but such naval assets and their crews shall be interned in Remuria until the resolution of hostilities between the Empire of Tarusa and the Kingdom of Csengia;

3. that should such above outlined assets and crews resist internment, the Commonwealth Armed Forces shall have the full mandate to terminate threats to the Commonwealth through what means the military command deems necessary;

4. that the Commonwealth shall not impede the transit of naval assets answerable to the Tarusan Empire through the international waterways between the Norterranean Sea and the Suterranean Sea (internationally referred to as the Meridian Sea) outside of the Remurian territorial sea, yet such transit shall be placed under surveillance to shield the Commonwealth from hostile intent;

5. that the Commonwealth shall not recognise the validity of the naval blockade implemented by the Tarusan Empire against the Kingdom of Csengia, that we expect the naval blockade to be lifted post haste.

In light of the above, the Commonwealth stands ready to partake, in a militarily non-aligned manner, in any international efforts aimed at removing the threat of open warfare in the Norterranean Sea.

CSENGIAN PATRIOTIC COUNCIL NOT AN OFFICIAL AUTHORITY

The Commonwealth Government has issued a statement reiterating that the Commonwealth continues to recognise Emperor Iohannes as Emperor of Tarusa and King Constantinus as King of Csengia. The Csengian Patriotic Council is a political movement without any authority.

"However, the fact that we recognise the relevant authorities of the two States does not mean the Commonwealth sees much partnership in our relations, nor many opportunities for mutually beneficial ventures with either Csengia or Tarusa," the spokesperson stated. "At this stage the Commonwealth is less than impressed with both pretenders to the Tarusan throne, and this position shall endure in the foreseeable future."

Given the above, however, the Csengian Patriotic Council is active unimpeded within Remuria in particular among the Csengian diaspora.

REMURIA ACTUALLY INVITED TO EBRIA ON TARUSA DISCUSSIONS

"Clearly, we were not invited, so we are not going," a Foreign Ministry spokesperson commented, before checking their tablet and sighing.

"Oh, nevermind, we actually were invited, apparently the Outlook server kicked the message through with quite a delay! I guess our InfoSec is being paranoid what with Touzen nuking Istavania for zlataning around and everything."

VALLS PACT TO GO AHEAD, REMURIA REMAINS MILITARILY UNALIGNED AND DOES NOT ADHERE

The Commonwealth delegation returned to Augusta Emerita from Valls following discussions around an international initiative to stem the spread of the Tarusan Civil War.

A statement by the Commonwealth Council explained that Remuria shall continue to support all initiatives aimed at preventing the spread of warfare, ensuring peaceful relations between Powers and the flow of international trade for the greater good of mankind.

The Commonwealth remained militarily unaligned as per the Will of the Nations and, as the Valls Pact contained military provisions and obligations, would not adhere to it. Instead, the Commonwealth shall provide financial and diplomatic support as necessary and shall be amenable to facilitating the transit of Pact men and materiel through Remurian territorial sea, ground and air should such be required.

The Commonwealth maintains formal recognition of the authorities in Csengia and Tarusa, whilst remaining "entirely unimpressed" with the courts of either the Emperor Iohannes or the Pretender Emperor Constantinus. The Csengian Patriotic Council will continue to be considered a political movement and their activities within the Commonwealth shall remain unobstructed, except in such cases where it would violate established Commonwealth Law.

The Commonwealth further confirmed that in case of direct threat to Radilo from either Tarusa or Csengia, Commonwealth territory may be transited through between Radilo and Rheinbund to facilitate a defensive response by Remuria's Meridian Union partners.

Overall, political commentators indicate that the Commonwealth continued to retain its policy of military uninvolvement, all while making ouvertures to mostly Meridian Union partners for the sake of that same partnership.

REMURIANS DISILLUSIONED WITH BLIND VACATION SPOT PICKING

The trend of blind pointing a spot on the map to select vacation destinations is dying out in Remuria after it becomes apparent that most such pickings lead to Oltremare.

"They're, like, totally everywhere, like, seriously," one Remurian vlogger commented. "You can, like, literally throw a dart blindfolded backwards in handcuffs, it'll totally land into some Oltremarine Regnum, dude, seriously..."

"Anyone know any cool and fresh vacationing spots? I've already done all of Oltremare. ALL OF IT. I deserve a medal just for that," another boasted online.

COMMONWEALTH TO UNDERGO MAJOR CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM

The Commonwealth Council has published its proposal for a major constitutional reform regulating the Commonwealth's Head of State. The cornerstone of the reforms lies in moving away from the centuries old complicated selection gauntlet for the office of the Magnus Dux.

Indeed, a system that has often been criticized within the Commonwealth for being in the hands of a self regulating semi-religious knightly order and completely confused and flabbergasted foreigners for how could it even work for so long would be replaced with a far leaner electoral voting process, whereby a candidate would need to secure a double-majority of the People and the Nations to assume the post.

The name for the Head of State will also change to something more conventional and up to date, in the form of a Commonwealth President. This President shall retain the broad executive powers of the Magnus Dux and act as both the Head of State and the Head of Government.

The proposals contain no change to the legislative process and no creation of a centralised Commonwealth legislature, retaining the current system of the Grand Assembly Broad and Wide, whereby National Assemblies vote on Commonwealth matters, with votes tallied by the population proportion of the Nation in the Commonwealth.

The reform will be submitted for review and debate to the Grand Assembly Broad and Wide.

COMMONWEALTH SECURITY COUNCIL MAINTAINS REMURIA'S DEFENSIVE DOCTRINE IN LIGHT OF ONGOING TENSIONS

The Commonwealth's Security Council, following its latest session in Augusta, has maintained the current defensive doctrine without change. The current policy of military unalignment is deemed to serve the Commonwealth's interests.

Remuria relies on a highly capable defensive naval, aerial and land force that deters any assault against the mainland and the islands. Unlike many other powers, Remuria does not maintain power projection capabilities like aircraft carriers,military bases in foreign lands, weapons of mass destruction or intercontinental ballistic missiles.

There shall be, for now at least, no change in this posturing and no move towards power projection beyond the Norterranean (intl. Bonaventura Bay) and the Suterranean (intl. Meridian Sea) Seas.

Analysts indicate that Remuria is the least of Tarusa's concerns and that the Commonwealth was likely to be involved in a major conflict only on the back of the entire Meridian neighbourhood being already embroiled in active warfare. A first strike from Tarusa into Remuria is regarded by many think tanks as extremely counterintuitive, as this would free the Commonwealth's executive from the current policy of military non-involvement and would add one more military power to the nascent anti-Tarusan block.

REMURIA CONTINUES TO OBSERVE THE EUROPEAN FORUM REFORM CLOSELY

The Commonwealth, not being part of the European Forum, has no particular stance on the inner workings of the organization.

However, a spokesman for the Commonwealth Council has stated that Remuria welcomes any steps that help support international peace, global trade and safeguarding of human rights. The Commonwealth shall observe the future actions of the EF Security Council closely before issuing any opinion on the efficiency of the body, or lack thereof.

Privately, some analysts indicate that the EF reform happened with numerous abstentions, so that the final number of votes in favour does not reflect an actual majority of the EF members. This weakens the perception of the nascent EF Security Council among the powers that be.

Commonwealth writers and publishers continue to snub the International Publishing House for its apparent refusal to register and set up a presence in Remuria.

Among the many points raised by Remurians are such things as referring to Remuria as some kind of "Italiote peninsula and archipelago", to Remuro-Retalian as some sort of "Italiote" and headquartering in Radilo, while avoiding any mention of Remuria and refusing to set up shop in Remuria.

REMURIA SHALL NOT BECOME MILITARILY INVOLVED IN THE CONFLICT AROUND THE GOTHIC SEA

Her Excellency Augusta Cadia di Palagonia, the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Minister, issued an urgent statement confirming that Remuria shall not be involved in the erupted hostilities in the Gothic Sea inbetween the Federation and the Hanseatic League on the one side and Gutarike and Tarusa on the other. The Commonwealth's stated policy towards the Tarusan Empire issued previously over the mining operations in the Norterranean Sea shall stand and be maintained.

The statement comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone, given that the Commonwealth is bound to remain militarily uninvolved in foreign conflicts, except when there is an attack against the Commonwealth.



COMMONWEALTH SHALL PROVIDE FEDERAL UNDERWRITING TO LOANS AND CREDIT LINES TO EBRIA, RHEINBUND AND RADILO

The Commonwealth Finance Ministry has confirmed that the government shall provide direct federal underwriting and to loans and credit lines issued by Remurian commercial banks to the public authorities and commercial actors of Rheinbund, Radilo and Ebria aimed at providing economic and financial stability to the Meridian Union.

REMURIA AMENABLE TO HOSTING APPEASEMENT TALKS BETWEEN WARRING PARTIES, BUT UNLIKELY TO BE CHOSEN BY THE SAME WARRING PARTIES

The Commonwealth remains steadfast in her adherence to a police of military uninvolvement in foreign conflicts, a Foreign Affairs Ministry statement read, and, should the warring parties express such a need, is ready to host them for appeasement discussions or even peace negotiations.

Political commentators, however, believe the likelihood of this happening is very low. The commentaries likely left many making math lady meme faces and try to keep up with the geopolitical exposition. In short, both warring parties may not see us Remurians as fully uninvolved or neutral by association.

The Tarusan Empire is very likely not impressed with us being publicly unimpressed with them in the aftermath of their mining operations in the Norterranean Sea. Plus Remuria, as a member state of the Meridian Union, is in an economical and political association with three Valls Pact members, two of which are CETO members. And, even as by now all Meridian Union member states have, for different reasons and in no alignment between themselves, adopted a policy of uninvolvement in the military conflict, we have to be very honest that the Tarusans are lilely as unimpressed with all of this as Remurians are generally unimpressed with them.

From the Federation and their allies side, we may be seen as a fellow democracy recalcitrant to act when their understanding of Freedom calls to action. The Commonwealth was in Valls for the Pact discussions, but did not adhere to the same Pact to keep abiding by our centuries old policy of military uninvolvement. We may be seen as soft. Remuria is a Meridian Union member state, and they may see us aligned to three nations that, in their mind, have not fulfilled their Valls Pact obligations. And two of the three are furthermore from what the Federation and allies might see as a rival democratic military bloc.

As far as Remuria goes, the affairs of others are not ours to partake in. We shall not actively seek to play peacemakers and world saviours. We can provide a discussion platform only if the parties themselves so desire.

COMMONWEALTH WELCOMES PEACE IN OUR TIME

Following the announcement of the results of a secretive conference in Ostmark that led to a "permanent ceasefire" between Tarusa on the one side and the Federation, Hanseatic League and the Communal Order on the other, the Commonwealth (that's a lot of national honorifics in a row) has issued a statement welcoming the advent of relative peace in between the warring parties. However, as the ceasefire deal does not involve Gutarike, hostilities against the Pirate Republic are expected to continue.

Remuria shall furthermore rescind the previous limitations placed upon Tarusan naval traffic in the Norterranean and Sudterranean seas. As long as there will not be new random bouts of happy mining in these waters.

REMURIAN CHURCH AND PRIVATE CHARITIES CONSIDER SUPPORTING RECOVERY IN TARUSA

The Remurian Church (of the Eastern Orthodox communion), and a large number of private Remuro-Retalian charities are considering supporting recovery works in Tarusa following the violent clashes and missiles strikes exchanged in the brief war with the Federation and the Communal Order.

"Now that by the Grace of the Holy Theotokos calm is returning to the area, as ashes settle down, we are reminded that iur Brothers in Christ have also suffered as a result of the conflict, with massive strikes against the Tarusan capital being one such example," a spokesman for the Remurian Church has commented.

This message is shared by a large number of Remurian charities, especially those of a religious nature and leaning on the Orthodox side of the Christian divide. The message that while the world rushes to help rebuilt Lethonia, Tarusans should not be forgotten as well.

The Commonwealth Government has advised that the Commonwealth state institutions shall not take part in such initiatives, but that private and church actors were allowed to proceed, as Tarusa no longer represented a direct threat to the Meridian Union and to Remuro-Retalia. However, such initiatives would not be backed by the Commonwealth, and that the Commonwealth had no means to support Remurian citizens should they travel to Tarusa, as diplomatic and consular relations are non-existent. The closest Remurian diplomatic presence being in Ostmark.

Given continued risks in the area, namely the continued hostilities around Gutarike and the unresolved inheritance conflict between Ivan and Konstantin, any Remurian citizens travelling into Tarusa would be doing so at their own risk and peril, and the Commonwealth shall absolve itself of any responsibility or commitment.

REMURIA OUTLAWS EBRIAN SECESSIONISTS, SPARKS DEBATE AROUND CONSISTENCY

The Federal Ministry of Justice has proscribed the Balzan-Galea Group, also referred to as the Hamrunite National Liberation Army, as a criminal organisation, severely restricting any potential operations by the movement within Remuria. The group had no previous known activities within the Commonwealth and the proscription is seen as aimed at any potential support to the group from private Remurian actors.

This has caused a debate around consistency, as for example the Csengian Patriotic Council does not get to be proscribed as a criminal organization.

Some analysts, however, point to the fact that Remuria has consistently sided with the Meridian Union and against anything that threatened the Union. Therefore, it is consistently inconsistent in its consistency in targeting some things rather than the others.

REMURIA SHALL CONTINUE TO REFER TO PELASGIA AS PELASGIA

The Commonwealth of the Remurian and Retalian Nations shall continue to use the name of Pelasgian Empire to territories administered by Propontis, rather than use the claimed official appelation of "Tiburan Empire".

Indeed, for the Commonwealth, referring to another state as the "Tiburan Empire" would open up so many historical and legacy pitfalls and the consistency of a lot of the historical decisions will be called into questions by historians for centuries to come.

The Commonwealth is made up of six former Imperial Tiburan provinces, that survive to this day in a somewhat transformed form as hereditary monarchies. The Commonwealth controls the majority of the former Remurian and Retalian provinces (minus the bits now administered by Radilo), Latium (minus Tibur controlled by the Catholic Pope and some bits administered by the Rheinbund) and Caria (minus the bits where there be dragons).

Clearly, while retaining Tiburan legacy, the Commonwealth has distanced itself from being seen as a continuation of the Tiburan Empire. Yet the Nations are, for all intent and purposes, Tiburan provinces that have weathered the stormy seas of history. And so are they then in open revolt against the claimant Tiburan Emperor in Propontis? Is the claimant Tiburan Emperor at fault and found lacking in his responsibility in safeguarding the Imperium and in losing Tibur?

A can of worms the Commonwealth doesn't even want to look at, even less open it.

As an aside comment, the Fourth Wall Research and Development Initiative has advised that such concerns shall pass, as they are only seasonal and will not be a long term concern.
