Eletrônicorp challenges Eiffelländer Patent
LIBERDADE - Brazulian electronics giant Eletrônicorp has challenged a patent for transistor radios by the Eiffelländer Rathenau Group. The patent, which was registered with Brazulian authorities as soon as the Rathenau Group announced the use of transistor technology for radios, would deny Brazulian companies the right to produce similiar transistor-based radios within the country, giving the Eiffelländer Rathenau Group a considerable edge over their Brazulian competitors. Eletrônicorp argues that the application of existing technology for a new purpose does not constitue a technological innovation that can be patented and monopolized and said it is willing to pursue their lawsuit to the highest authorities to achieve a landmark judgement on this issue.
Mayor to student union: there is no housing crisis
CAMBUCI - The Mayor of the southern Brazulian university city of Cambuci has adressed complaints by the national student union, rejecting claims that the city was facing a major housing shortage. According to mayor Pedro Covas, Cambuci is well prepared to take in the next semester of students seeking to study in the 100.000 citizen community. Cambuci, the mayor said, had no plans nor need for social housing project He furthermore argued that a rising demand on the housing market would be inevitably met with greater supply, stating that market equilibrium is as natural a law as gravity and evolution.
