IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT OF SIKANDARA
GRAND COUNCIL FOR DIPLOMATIC AFFAIRS

PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE

1. June. 1955

To,
The Minister for Foreign Affairs,
Grand Duchy of @ .

Dear Sir,
I write to you today to commend your government's plan of sending a naval task-force to the Long Sea. Given the unpredictable and most delicate situation in those waters, this is a most sagacious move on part of the Grand Ducal Government. However, it has come to our knowledge that the Burgundian deployment shall focus on minesweepers. We have serious concerns over this.

Our intelligence has us believe that the main threat in the Long Sea is due to submarine raids on shipping, rather than mines, and as such the Burgundian deployment is at risk of attack, itself, if it does not include submarine hunters. As true friends of the Burgundian nation, we advise the Grand Ducal Government to bolster the anti-submarine capabilities of the contingent they are sending to patrol the Long Sea.

Sir,

We have dispatched these ships purely in a non-combat observation role. While we are aware of tactical developments and are watching them closely, we do not wish to heighten tensions with the deployment of combat ships. We have sent our mine warfare vessels not to hunt mines but to observe. Our intelligence is continually updated to be accurate. We are aware of the situation. Our deployment was carefully calculated. We wish to avoid raising tensions. If any further deployment is required, your government will be made aware.
