PRESIDENTE DE LA REPÚBLICA
LA REPÚBLICA AURARIANA
14 Ventumes CXCIX | 27 January 2019
Prime Minister of Lars
City of Lars, Lars
The Grand Duchy of Lars
Dear Prime Minister Marino,
I am writing to you today in regards to the successful initiation of military exercises between the Grand Duchy of Lars and the Aurarine Republic, as agreed upon during our summit at the end of the last Gregorian year.
Military leaders from Auraria and Lars have expressed support for the exercises as a necessary component of defense preparedness. In observation of these successes, the Aurarine Republic would like to propose to Lars that the two countries begin a new exercise program larger in both size and duration with a particular focus on mountain combat. Large mountain ranges make up the land border between Auraria and Serenierre, a trait shared by the southern and northern borders of Lars. Therefore, effectiveness in mountain combat will prove critical to a thorough defense of either of our countries.
In the particular case of the Aurarine Republic, the border with Serenierre and Auraria is almost entirely mountainous and as a result the Republican Army adopted numerous brigades of the North Army to be designated purely to mountain warfare. Collectively these brigrades are known as “Los Altos.” Soldiers are selected by recommendation of unit commanders for nomination to the mountain brigades. These individuals go under some of the most extensive training programs that the country has to offer. To that end, they are some of the most specialized infantry units in the Republic.
It is the opinion of the Republic that it would be immensely beneficial for the Los Altos Brigades to train with their counterparts in Lars as it would the Larisians be permitted to train in Auraria. Undoubtedly, there can be much to learn from our two countries’ military doctrines.
Prosperity for both the Larisian and Aurarian Peoples remains a primary concern of the Republic and our present friendship remains founded upon a military respect for human rights and peace in our time. Surely then, together, our countries will contribute tremendously to preserving peace in our time.
I look forward to your reply.
All the best,
Manuel Sanabria
President
