Subject: Post-War Peacekeeping

Following the statements of Premier Martinique [310605Z JAN 2010] His Majesty's Government wishes to first commend the Government of Belmont for a sound strategy focused on peace and the stabilization of the political situation on the continent. In this endeavor your nation has the full support of His Majesty's Government. There is a matter relating to these efforts which may have very grave implications for the future of the strategic position of Breotonia and Belmontien/Breotish relations. While we support the deployment of international and neutral peacekeeping forces to guard the border between Belmont and its neighbor we must insist that should the plans for peacekeeping extend to the seas then Breotish concerns really must be accounted for.

Obviously His Majesty's Government and His Majesty's Royal Navy cannot tolerate the permanent or semi-permanent deployment of foreign vessels to our shared strait or the waters surrounding it. If Belmont sees no need to militarize the waters to maintain peace in the manner which it requests deployments to its border then there is obviously no conflict in our interests. However, should Belmont insist that forces be deployed to enforce a peace we must insist they be exclusively Breotish, no other party, be it the Northern Council or the European Defense Federation, can be allowed to amass naval forces in such proximity to what is traditionally an area that should only be overseen by Breotish and Belmontien ships.

We hope you will take this concern very seriously and we await your response.
