AABENT STATSBREVEN :: OPEN LETTER OF STATE
His Eminence Sr Henrique Ruiz Gonzalez Maduro
The Department of Foreign Affairs,
Fortaleza Real
THE REPUBLIC OF FRESCANIA
2e Juni, 1953

As I signalled to you, Frescania and Danmark require a rediscovering of their long-held consensus that predates recent fallouts. It is, in my opinion, that talking trumps tirades.

This kingdom and empire recognises the significant composure that emanates from our beloved republic and that it has much to say. Far from me to prevent that.

We are heartened to see a redirection toward the hinterland in respect to Himyar, which we had lobbied for for some time. This is the right decision and it gets our full support.

Alongside general ironing out of recent tensions, the two nations need to address several key and prized issues.

First, is the issue of the Long Sea and enaction of preventative measures towards rogue nations that may see fit to abuse the sanctity of commercial transit and military flow. To us, a certainty over this, with active Frescanian input, not only reduces the pressure on the Kongelige Dankse Marine but also is indicative of general Frescanian intent. Two nations working together and 'singing from the same hymn sheet' is better than one nation undertaking the onus upon itself and operating on separate agendas.

The issue of the reinvigoration of normality requires urgent attention. Danish maritime trade has been impacted to a level that has been punishable to some quarters and this cannot continue. The fish-sellers wail that they cannot sell their catch! But it goes beyond this - and this issue needs urgent attention.

Control over the western approach-exits of the Long Sea needs concerted attention, together with the island-nation of Nicosia, for the greater good of stable grasp and in order to guarantee national livelihood. It must not be strangled by regressive forces and such a forward-thinking and preparation for the 'unknowns' is right and it should be drawn into the scope of discussions.

Lastly, I am invited to formally invite the President of the Republic to the Danish Kingdom for a Visit of State. As a preliminary, it is ordered by the Court Royal, that His Eminent High Excellency, Honorable-Upon-Supreme, The President of the State, Sr Manuel Antonio Rodriguez Martin, be inducted into the Triumphant Guilds of the High Fanfare Trumpetters of State and the Order of the Dannebrog (D.O.).

In respect,

I am happy to discuss with you the state of our bilateral relations. While both nations had their difference in the recent Northern Crisis, we here in the Republic are hopeful that our discussions can bring about a rapprochement between our two countries.

We here at the Ministry agree that the Republic’s re-focus on Himyar was long overdue, but this should not be taken as a withdrawal from our commitments in the North. Although we were brought into the region by force, we will do our duty as a responsible power in maintaining peace and stability.

In regards to the Long Sea, the Republic has always taken it upon itself to secure the Strait of Gadir since the Age of Empire. However, we also believe that cooperation with both Nicosia and Danmark are crucial for the freedom of the seas to remind intact. We propose cooperating with both your nation and Nicosia on this matter. I am certain the Republican Navy would be glad to have assistance.

Let it be known that The Republic will not allow rough vessels through the strait. The strait is essential for our national security and we take every precaution to ensure that our surrounding waters are safe.

Finally, it would be an honor for President Rodriguez to travel to Christianborg for such high honors. We will work out the details of the President’s schedule later in the future.

Sincerely,

Henrique R. Gonzalez Maduro;
Secretary of Foreign Affairs
