Carentania accuses Valkanian government of genocide in East Cape From REUTERS Rijeka - In an emergency press conference, called in response to "the speed with which events in southern Himyar unfold", Carentanias Commissar for Foreign Affairs has lambasted Valkanian actions, calling them a genocide. The Workers' Republic considers the entire rule of Valkany over the East Cape an illegal occupation, but Commissar Jerman furthermore stressed that "putting this question aside, the Valkanian actions in Himyar clearly express a desire to forcefully remove any presence of black Himyari people from their colonial holdings. The only possible word for this crime is that of genocide." With its comment on the situation in the far south, Carentania not only refers to the latest wave of executions and forceful expulsions perpetuated by the Valkanian troops in the Eastern Cape, but to the general policy of the Valkanian state regarding the natives. Black Himyari are not considered citizens by the colonial authorities in the East Cape, essentially rendering the natives in the East Cape a stateless people. This position of rightlessness has, in the past, served to justify forceful expulsions and the expropriation of land and wealth by white settlers. The Workers' Republic has signalled it is willing to cooperate with other European powers to contain the Valkanian actions and Commissar Jerman said during the press conference that Carentania was already in process of drafting up a proposal to approach "trusted partners" with. However, the pace of the events in the South Cape threatens to outrun the walk of diplomacy. |
