Any royal member may write a letter to any other royal person on any topic. Sometimes the strangest of conversations are the best. Yet politics and news of the day is often most worthy.

My dearest cousin Joffe,

It is with a heavy heart that I express to you the current situation in Götarike. Many people have died. I lost a dear friend in the bombings. Thus the news that came to me via the news wire was startling. I understand that your Empire my dear cousin has priorities and alliances to follow, but our friendship is in blood. I urge you to lessen your restrictions on grains so that prices will remain easy for my people. I will do my best to make sure my Government does not upset the ways of your Empire and can work together some kind of future where we will not be at odds. I was not even sure how we came to any odds in the first place. I do hope with this news that I am only overreacting.

My chamber maid tells me it is worth exploring friendship but it is my sincerest hope that my plea does not explore too far. Yet if you have qualm with my people please inform me of the proper issue so that our peoples will not fight the worst of all battles.

How is Armand keeping? I know this letter is short but these are the most trying times for me, state business, I hope you understand.

My heart goes out to you vis. the domestic unpleasantness. Upheaval can be obscenely tedious, but I trust that you shall, dear cousin, persevere as ever. Armand’s mood is steadily lifting, although the business in Montelimar is the very greatest shame. Katarina has been moping for months, but I feel that the holidays in Emyn Arnen will do them both some good. Speaking of which, I hope I can tempt you to holiday in Arendaal yourself this Christmas. It has been far too long since we’ve had the pleasure of a true family gathering.
