ANNOUNCEMENT

***********************

His Majesty Albrecht III von Dietz-Hadamar, King of Eiffelland, and Her Majesty Queen Mathilda of Eiffelland announce the marriage of their son Prince Wolfgang von Dietz-Hadamar, Prince of Eiffelland, with Princess Antonia Beatrice Jeanne de Dreux, Princess of Bourgogne, niece of Duke Maximilien de Berthier, Duke of Bourgogne.

The wedding will take place in the Royal City of Weissenfels on 28 June 1954. The marriage will be solemnized in the Cathedral of Weissenfels by Archbishop Rudolph Strelecki, Archbishop of Weissenfels, Metropolitan of the Clerical Province South Eiffelland, Primate of Eiffelland.

Invited are all Royal and Imperial Houses of Europe (governing and non-governing), as well as governing Grand-Ducal, Ducal and Principal houses, and the Heads of State of Belmont and Twente. We will handle the table setting with very much care, so that everybody can enjoy the company of the people at the table where they are sitting.

King Albrecht also invites the higher nobility of Eiffelland and Nichtstein (i.e. the Ducal families), the Heads of Government of Eiffelland and Nichtstein, and representants of Eiffellandian and Nichtsteiner families which are very important to both countries because of their economical or scientific influence (like the Rathenau and the Fuger families).

Duke Maximilien de Berthier will indicate on personal title whom he will additionally invite.

In the evening before the wedding, there will be a concert for all invitees in the Semperoper in Weissenfels. Mozart’s 41st Symphony and Beethoven’s 7th Symphony will be performed.

After the wedding mass, there will be a reception in the Zwinger in Weissenfels, the orangery and garden of the Weissenfelser Stadtschloss. The dinner and ball will take place in the Weissenfelser Stadtschloss.

The best hotels in Weissenfels have been reserved. We will take all necessary security measures.

OOC2: @ and @ , I don’t know how your Heads of State would react on so many crowned heads, and I don’t want to know how those crowned heads would react on your Heads of State. Therefore, they are not invited.
OOC3: I don’t know if I forgot somebody. All royal and imperial families can be considered invited.

The Burgundian guest list is short. It will include most remaining members of the House Berthier and some members, of course, of the cadet branch- de Dreux. In addition to Ducal guests, Acting Prime Minister Brodeur will attend. Finally, a few select family friends and members of the minor nobility will be in attendance. His Grace is looking forward to the event.

The reason why the wedding took place in Weissenfels instead of the capital city Trier was history. At the end of the 18th century, the Duke of Sauerland, who resided in Weissenfels, inherited the Royal Throne. He moved his residence to Trier, but stipulated that the coronation of the Eiffellandian Kings and marriages of male members of the Royal Family had to take place in Weissenfels from then on. So Trier remained the capital, but Weissenfels became the “Königsstadt”, the Royal City. Later on, Weissenfels obtained an additional role for the Eiffellandian Royal Family: It became the city where the children of the King would study, a tradition introduced by Emeritus-King Heinrich, who was the first King of Eiffelland who obtained a University degree.

As always, the Eiffellandians had ruled out the phenomenon incidence as far as they could. Almost all possible scenarios had been thought out. Kidnappings, assaults, food poisonings, fires, bombings, illnesses, traffic accidents, even the scenario in which everything would go perfectly fine had been thought out. The Eiffellandians could say to themselves: “Wir haben die Sache im Griff – We have everything under control.” They could show themselves to the world like they wanted to be seen: Self-confident without being arrogant.

Prince Ludwig had taken his precautions as well. He didn’t know if it would come to a second rendezvous between him and the Aurarian Prince Francisco, but he sincerely hoped. He was in love. Deeply in love. This time he didn’t want to be disturbed. This time he didn’t want to do it in a bathroom, but at a romantic location. And that shouldn’t be a problem in Weissenfels, Eiffelland’s showpiece of Baroque. A room in the Stadtschloss? Normally, that was an option. A part of the Stadtschloss was a pied-à-terre for the Royal Family. But now that wasn’t an option. The complete royal apartment was full, both with the Eiffellandian Royal Family and with the Ducal Family of Bourgogne. So Ludwig’s eyes turned to the Zwinger.

How different it was four years ago, first with the coronation of his father, and then with the wedding of his eldest brother. Four years ago, Ludwig wasn’t even thinking of scheduling problems. He was 16, going on 17. He had just got over the fact that he was gay. And now, four years later, he was planning a date during the festivities of his brother’s wedding. Four years are a long period of time.

The Zwinger was a very good location for Ludwig’s plans. Close-by, so you could walk back and forth, and it was definitely a romantic location. It was only a pity that the moon wouldn’t shine.

Unaware of Ludwig's plans with the Zwinger, King Albrecht and Queen Mathilda awaited the guests in the Semperoper the evening before the wedding, together with Duke Maximilien and the parents of Princess Antonia.
