The Pro Patria Association of Rifle Societies, federating three-fourths of all Rifle Societies on the Island of Ascona, has on the stocks of its member societies a total of 741 FN-R-52, chambered 7.62x51mm Burgundian. Rifles in working condition and used for firearms practice among the members and guests of the Rifle Societies. An additional 132 rifles are in states of disassembly, spare parts having been used to refit and repair the operational rifles. The husks can be used for further cannibalisation to refit operational rifles.

The rifles date from the "STGW-55" program of the Nichtsteiner Armed Forces, when 1000 units of FN-R-52 were purchased for tests by the Nichtsteiner army on the island of Ascona. The competition and trials were eventually won by the domestic Nichtsteiner SG-950, which was adopted as the "STGW-57" into the Armed Forces.

873 units of FN-R-52 were transferred to the Pro Patria Association of Rifle Societies for use in training the civilian population and reservists in firearms firing and handling.

Currently, the FN-R-52 are being phased out by member Rifle Societies by surplus Nichtsteiner Stgw-57 and Stgw-90 rifles, with the introduction of the Stgw-10 rifles seven years ago as the standard issue within the Nichtsteiner Armed Forces.

The Pro Patria Association, having a dealership license through associated armories, can sell the remaining units of FN-R-52 to the War Ministry of the Kingdom of Elben.
