071800Z JUNE 2011
From: FOREIGN OFFICE
To: FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY - SUIONIA
Subject: Message Relay from Shaw-Fujikawa Group

The Shaw-Fujikawa Group has requested that His Majesty's Foreign Office contact the Suionia Foreign Affairs Ministry on the corporation's behalf to inform the Suionian Government that they feel obligated to make an effort at assisting in the recovery by Northern Council private firms of the properties that were seized by the Bantyric Government during the trade dispute between that nation and the Council. As your offices are no doubt aware Shaw Financials, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Shaw-Fujikawa Group, took ownership of the aforementioned assets from the Bantyric Government at reduced cost in June of this year. The pre-War value of the assets is estimated at £120 billion (€200 billion) and the purchase was made at £78 billion (€130 billion).

These assets have been maintained by the corporation in that time and, while the climate is likely too unfavorable to allow a transfer at this moment, Shaw-Fujikawa would like to enter into discussions with Suionian and Northern Council Governments, with the guidance and oversight of His Majesty's Foreign Office, in order to ascertain the best way to proceed in the matter of what is to be done with these properties when conditions are more favorable for a transfer of ownership.

Until notice otherwise communications on this particular matter should be carried through the Foreign Office rather than directly to the Shaw-Fujikawa Group.

Foreign Office,
Lunden, Breotonia

Sir/Miss,
The Kingdom of Suionia finds this to be an interesting offer. We must ask if what is expected in return or the exact terms of this transfer. We hope that this transfer could be made sooner rather than later as well, as any good news could help the apparently rapidly worsening economy.

Med Vänliga Hälsningar,
Henne excellens Malin Enström

Per your communication of [24-7-2001] we have spoken with representatives of the Shaw-Fujikawa Group so that we might give a clearer picture of the type of transaction they hope to be brokered. They wished to first firmly state that they are open to negotiations and that rough deal that is about to be proposed is preliminary and subject to the needs and requirements of Suionian and Northern Council interests which the corporation may not have been able to foresee in light of the unprecedented scope of the situation.

The Shaw-Fujikawa Group would like to receive payment so that a modest profit could be generated by the venture (which required considerable efforts and resources in order to broker) as well as compensation for the sizable investments required to maintain these facilities and assets in an unforgiving political and economic atmosphere. In the (albeit unlikely) event that all of the assets and properties are able to be transferred to their original owners in a short amount of time the corporation would like to have settled on payments in the region of £100 billion (€166 billion).
