NOTE: The Sivanese diplomatic corps can be very particular and ridged and complicated. The Foreign Affairs bureau maintains four (4) levels of diplomatic missions.
The first level is an Embassy headed by an Ambassador and is accredited by the Head of State to other Heads of State and is reserved for nations holding important economic and/or political ties with Sri Siva.
The second level is a Legation headed by an Envoy and is accredited by the Head of Government to other Heads of Government and is the most common type of mission to other nations and denotes a regular diplomatic mission by Sri Siva.
The third level is a Mission headed by an Minister Resident and is accredited by the Head of Government to other Heads of Government and is used mainly for new missions and for mission where the climate may not allow for the arrival of a higher lever of diplomatic officer.
The fourth level is also a Mission, but headed by a Chargé d'affairs en pied and is accredited by the Administrator of Foreign Affairs to other Foreign Affairs Departments and is reserved for nations holding negative view by the government, but does not wish to break ties with that nation.
Every mission has a Chargé d'affairs serving as a deputy Head of Mission and may be the Head of Mission ad interim (a. i.) in the absence of another diplomatic officer and in absence of receiving "en pied" (e. p.).
Every diplomatic also has several Attachés to assist and advise their missions on issues under their purview. Attachés exists on: Legal, Military, Press, Cultural, Commerce, Agricultural, and Science.
Sri Siva also maintains representatives to international organizations in the form of Permanent Representatives with various responsibilities, and entertains representatives from these organizations in the form of Resident Representatives.
Each Head of Mission shall be accredited with various statuses and responsibilities that affect their ability to conduct diplomatic affairs. Extraordinary status denotes that the diplomat is a permanent representative. Ordinary status denotes a diplomat is not a permanent representative and is used for diplomats appointed to those representative serving at large and in ad hoc situations. Diplomats with Plenipotentiary responsibility has the full power to make agreements that will be honored by the Government of the Kingdom of Sri Siva.
