I The Anwar Incident
May 31, 1957
Yasab, Anwar Province

[SUP]Imraan had never seen this many people in one place. Hundreds of demonstrators filled the plaza, waving banners and signs. The rally had been going on for at least an hour, and more people still seemed to be pouring in from the streets to join the chorus of voices in unison. Eamil-Shayuei members were known to be passionate, but this Imraan thought, was magnificent. Imraan never really concerned himself with politics, he couldn't recall any particular leader who had upset him. And Imraan could not fully understand the rally's purpose or why these people were to angry. He adjusted his belt, heavy with patrol equipment. Imraan was initially unhappy with being assigned to rally. He thought even paperwork would be more amusing than being wrenched into a crowned town square full of yelling people. But now as Imraan saw, the rally seemed more intriguing than he had expected. The demonstrators shouted things like "Onto the New Era!" and "Usher in true Freedom!". The event filled Imraan with excitement, and he wore a dumb smile across his face. Imraan was still young, though he served the department for over ten years. He had grown to dislike the populace at times, due to their tendency to create a fuss over simple things. This rally had a different effect on Imraan. Instead of seeing angry people taking up time and space, he saw a community with passion and vision.[/SUP]

[SUP]"Imraan?" one of the officers next to him said, "Are you alright?"[/SUP]

[SUP]Imraan was shook out of his dazed state. "Yes, I'm alright." Imraan replied looking over at his fellow officer. "Just admiring the scenery..."[/SUP]
[SUP] [/SUP]
[SUP]"Scenery?" the officer said, puzzled. "You really believe this nonsense?"[/SUP]
[SUP] [/SUP]
[SUP]"Not really but," Imraan said looking back towards the rally. "You've got to admit it's quite a sight."[/SUP]
[SUP] [/SUP]
[SUP]The officer scoffed, "The only thing to be seen here is a bunch of crazy fanatics..."[/SUP]

[SUP]The officer then turned and walked away, crossing the plaza. Imraan watched as he shoved past several demonstrators. Political intrigue was common ground among The Provinces. Families often shunned each other for their political opinions. Imraan, being the unbiased man he is, never really thought much of things such as the rally. Imraan adjusted his bright red beret, and took a step of the sidewalk and into the plaza. As he strode through the massive crowd of people, several of the demonstrators looked at Imraan and scowled. The Eamil-Shayuei weren’t too fond of any sort of governmental officials, let alone a protection officer. Imraan gave no notice to the several foul looks pointed in his direction, he was so taken by the sheer magnitude of the rally. Though, as we gently pushed his way through the crowd, he noticed the demonstrators had begun to shout different slogans. Those of more hateful intent. “Down with Salaah!” was being chanted among the masses. Imraan stopped as his curiosity slowly turned cold, to fear. He then heard some sort of commotion, and he turned to look. To his dismay, Imraan realized the demonstrators were slowly surrounding a group of fellow officers. Imraan shoved past, desperately trying to get to his comrades. Then his worst fear became a reality. One of the demonstrators struck an officer with his fists, followed by several more joining in. Many behind started to throw objects at officers. Imraan’s stomach dropped, and he pushed harder at the crowd. The demonstrator’s around him then realized who he was, and began to encircle him, cutting him off from his fellow officers. They began shouting angrily and threatening him. Imraan began to panic, wondering whether or not to draw his weapon. The noise was beginning to be overwhelming when several shots rang out in the plaza, followed by simultaneous screaming. The crowd ducked, and scattered. Imraan blinked in disbelief, and looked back towards the officers. He saw them weapons drawn, standing over several bodies. Some even, still writhing in pain. One of the officers being the one he had spoken to earlier. The plaza seemed empty now, so quickly vacated. Imraan ran over to his comrades. He noticed some were bleeding from their heads and arms. Those still lying on the street were motionless, and blood began to pool in the cracks of the plaza.[/SUP]

[SUP]“Call EMS, and get the Lieutenant on the line…” Imraan said shakingly, “Now!”[/SUP]
