The Ethnarch-President waits in the Presidential Residence, in Algolis, where the meeting will take place. He stares outside the main window, to the large garden and the statue of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the governor of the first Ionian Republic. The man that turned Ionia into the Western nation she is today. The man whom he always admired.
Guard: Your excellency, the Portusgalian Ambassador has arrived.
Ethnarch Demetrius: Thank you Ioannis.
The Guard stands in attention, salutes and returns to his post.
Ethnarch Demetrius: Time to meet an old friend, heh.

The new portusgalian embassador was an old airforce pilot during the Portusgalian Civil War of 1928, he knows very well Demetrius. The old one, Doctor António Freitas, has retired, he was very old claimed to be in poor health. He speaks in the best greek accent, and knows very well the greek people, since his great grandfather was greek.

José Santos Cunha: Demetrius my old friend! Long time no see, I'm happy to know that you are now the Ethnarch-President! I'm very proud about that! Congratulations!

Ethnarch Demetrius: Oh thank you, thank you my friend. You see I wanted to meet you to discuss some mutually beneficial offers; like trade agreements and that sort of stuff. But seeing again you is a gift in its own right!

José Santos Cunha: Indeed my dear friend, glad to meet you again. I must congratulate you for the victory against Royalist forces, in fact that King didn't represent the Ionian interests... Specially in this "new world". Since that damn August Catastrophe every one is gone crazy for power, sometimes I think I miss that looney beam of Danmark, at least it was a source of balance...

Ethnarch Demetrius: Indeed, "was".Now we have coups and wars every other day all across the globe. So are you ready to begin?

José Santos Cunha: Indeed and the portusgalian public opinion is very stressed with communism... Time is changing my friend, this is no longer our "Era".

The Queen, by appointment of the Sovereign Congress desires an alliance with Ionia, since your journey to power has ended, and finnaly we don't have no more to deal with that tyrant pretending to be a king! Ethnarch Demetrius: I'm in full agreement. In fact I was about to propose that my friend. Also what do you think of a trade agreement?

José Santos Cunha: Seems very fair to me, Portusgalia has things that Ionia doesn't have and Ionia has things that Portusgalia doesn't have... Do you have any idea or proposal? The government asked me to promote our rising auto industry in Ionia.

Ethnarch Demetrius: That would be greatly beneficial for both of us, since Ionia doesn't have much of a car industry of her own. Our largest sectors are agriculture, trade and resource mining. In which of these sectors do you think Ionia could have an important presence in the Portusgalian market?

 

[Portusgalia]

José Santos Cunha: Since Portusgalia and Ionia are good friends to each other we can make this as a mutual cooperation agreement, i think it is the best for both sides. See this Demetrius:

Agriculture is one of the main core of Ionian economy, we have good agronomists since we have all sorts of climates on our empire over the world, this has brought experience to portusgalian Agronomy has a science! I think Ionia should invest more in mechanization of Agriculture, such has the more use of tractors, since I know ASTRA produces that kind of machinery.
There are certain Ionian products that Portusgalia always seeks for them, olive oil, pistachios, Yogurts...
On other side minning is interesting, since Ionia has large resources of Aluminium, an important metal for nowdays industry. The rocks used to produce cemment, Ionia is very rich... And marbles, Ionian marbles are always top rated in Portusgalia.

Ionia can also became an important gateway for Mozambian goods... Se this:

Portusgalia is rughly on the West meridian of Himyar, and Ionia is on the East meridian of Himyar, and Mozambia is far close to Ionia rather then it is from Portusgalia. In this situation I think Ionia can be an important gateway for Mozambian products in our continent! Specially in the Hellenic World.

Besides, Ionia still has great turist attractions! The old Hellenic buildings, are always a source of attraction... We can try to help our hotel industry and turism thrive, by associating the hot Mozambian beaches with the historic buildings in Ionia. Cruise ships, it is the new hit of tourism! See where do I won't to get with this demetrius? It is a win to win situation sharing the same turists!

Ethnarch Demetrius: I see, I see. Once again you surprise me with your intelligence and smart ideas. it would indeed be a most beneficial deal. I accept joyfully. Also to encourage tourist movement we could halve the visa waiting time between our nations.

 

[Portusgalia]

José Santos Cunha: Indeed... It is time to shake things a little bit... Nice point. The only thing that concerns the turism agencies and organizations in Portusgalia is Tyrrenia... They are nowdays a bit fasty, and now are in a kind of revolutionary commotion...

I will not mention those wackos from Danmark and their... Ufff what can I say... Stupidity, in Eastern Cape of Himyar. Gosh! That continent is being an headache! Now those communist fools are pretending to be liberators, and demand full independence of Himyar at all custs, even if the Himyarish don't wont it! At least in Mozambia turism saw a bit of sun! Foundation Day and Mardi Gras at the same time... I think things have calmed down now in Eastern Cape, if they don't settle down, it will be a pain in the ass for us two!

Ethnarch Demetrius: Hmm, maybe we could organize and give you a list of all Ionian citizens originating from Tyrrhenia and you could "delay" their visas.

José Santos Cunha: Oh no... no... Our concern isn't exactly with their citizens, it is really with their government. I hope things just get better in there and they stay on their side of the globe, while we stay on ours!

 

[Ionia]

Ethnarch Demetrius: We can help ensure that. They are close friends of ours and I'm sure they will listen. Also being a neighboring state we can impose heavy sanctions on them if they try anything aggressive that will severely damage their economy. Well we're official allies now so if they attack you they'll be facing a major invasion at home. We also have one of the best navies in the world to support you with if anything happens in you colonies. So are the alliance and deal official?

The Ethnarch takes a pen and stands above the documents.

José Santos Cunha: Of course... But remember, the communist are becoming dangerous, act with care. We make our best efforts not to piss them, by avoiding confrontation. We can't show weakness, but we can't confront. War is not on our agenda...

Ethnarch Demetrius: Of course, it would seem that we share the same views on the Reds. We'll do our best not to provoke but not to appease them either.
