The Blackwater Times

The Blackwater Times
is Lafayette's most trusted news source. Founded in 1801 by Matthew Babin, it has made itself well known for accuracy, and honesty. Today, the Babin family still owns the leading share of The Blackwater Times. The newspaper is sold throughout the nation, and is often picked over the questionable televised news networks.

The Christian Community Marches Religion Taxes

Over 2,000 Christians marched up the streets today, protesting the tax put on all religious institutions. Believing that since they are a holy institution and not a corporation, that they should not have to pay a tax. However, the government and the majority of people within Lafayette have been harshly criticizing the protests.

"The fact of the matter is, that they cannot get over themselves. They make money, and they buy land. They do give to charity, but they can right that off as a tax break like everyone else does. Just because they claim to be Holy does not mean that they are exempt from taxation like all other organizations." ~ President Dubois, addressing the issue today in a news conference.

"The churches we build and the land we buy belongs to God! You can't tax God! We give everything we make back!" ~An anonymous priest

Vocational School Offered As Alternative

To students struggling with highschool, or ambitous student's who want to start a career right out of highschool, an alternative to highschool is becoming more accesible. Vocational School is being offered on a much larger scale than ever before. Being hosted out of community colleges, universities, and many other schools, this form of learning seeks to vastly increase the size of the skilled labor force throughout Lafayette. Things such as Welding, Masonry, Auto-mechanics, Plumbing, Nursing, Carpentry, and much much more. And the best thing about it, is that this alternative is completely free.

Legality of LSD in Question

After a horrific car accident in which the driver responsible was extremely high on LSD (a.k.a. 'acid') has struck the nerves of some citizens. A still small minority of people have written numerous letters to their local government officials asking for this substance to be made illegal. However, it is unlikely such legislation will be passed. Since the law would be a moral law, and attempting to instill one's morals on other people has become somewhat of a taboo in our nation. Many local government's have decided to enforce Driving Under the Influence penalties. And will be highing the fines for such violations.

Car Fires Rage In Downtown Orem

Early this morning, an estimate of 16 men or women walked down the streets of downtown Orem, and attacked cars with Molotov Cocktails. There are no deaths, and no injuries, but it seems that this was a message from a rarely active terrorist organization known as the Cajun Republic Army. A nationalist group working to create a separate republic for those whose heritage is Cajun. While most Cajuns do not agree with the organizations message, the CRA maintains a steady line of support. Were this support comes from is not completely clear yet, but may be soon. The Executive Branch is debating on whether to send forward a bill to Congress. This bill would be giving much more power to local, state, and federal police organizations in order to protect citizens from further, possibly, deadlier attacks.

Mayor of New Valmy Found Brutally Murdered

New Valmy Mayor, Soctt Hansen, was found beaten, branded, and lynched in the campgrounds north-east of New Valmy. An 11 year old boy found him, and ran back to his family's campsite screaming. When local PD arrived on the scene they were disgusted and angry. Many of them were friends or voters of Scott Hansen. Congress is now acting quickly to decide on the Bill that the executive branch passed. It is likely that the decision will be made by the end of today.

New Police Agency Created

The newly created Federal Investigation Corp (FIC), has now been created to combat the threat of growing criminal and terrorist activities. Some groups are angered by this fact, and claim that this is just a step in a police state much like the one created in the 30's. However, President Dubois has tried to make it very clear to everyone that this is just a temporary organization, and it will be disbanded once the gang, terroist, and other domestic threats are dealt with. The FIC's only purpose is defense, and it does not mean to act as other police organizations have in the past.

Law Breakers Busted

In what is rumored to be investigated by the FIC, tax evasion has been more and more harshly dealt with. This week, over 22 people will be thrown in prison for tax evasion. Also the Motorcycle Club, The Black Suns, has had three members arrested for armed robbery. FIC agents are patrolling cities like New Valmy, and Blackwater, night and day and in vast numbers. Constantly arresting attempted terrorists. However, the line between protection and police harassment seems to be a bit foggy. Since, many college campuses have been full of protesters.

President Dubois Puts Up Controversial New Bill

During a period where the government needs as much control as possible to overcome its new found domestic enemies, President Dubois has put up a controversial new bill that could change the face and future of our nation. His bill proposes to outlaw Private Industry, and allow the government to gain control of everything economical. For the next three days Congress will be debating the bill, and for the time they remain strictly divided on it. The population to is extremely divided.

"The Worker's should be running things! Not this damn Government. The system we have in place caters only to itself! The people in charge ensure they have the power, while claiming the power rests in the hands of the people. Now, I'm not saying Private industry is a great thing, but this is not the way to get rid of it." The word's of Martin Sunter Vice President of The Black Suns and an infamous Anarchist.

"If we are to ensure that equality is prevalent in our great nation then we need to have a democratic take over of the economy. If this bill is allowed to pass, then soon a new era of and egalitarian society." President Dubois's words.

Private Business Outlawed!

Congress passed the bill. And now all private business is outlawed. This controversial, and somewhat loony idea will now be tested. The Government has had to send soldiers to force the few businesses that resisted to the new bill to submit. Riots broke out in Orem, and the Armed Forces have been sent in. The President urges for peace.

President Murdered! Government May Collapse

It has been confirmed today that the President was burnt to death, by a handful of CRA soldiers. Rumors state that the Government may collapse. The pure animosity in the past week and a half has been even more ferocious than during the 60's. Anarchy has been spread so quickly and violently, some political historians believe that the power vacuum left behind by the government may be filled with the gangs and terrorist organizations of the land. But it has yet to be seen. Many cities have already been raising the black flag, and it is believed that the Black Suns has been writing up documents for a Anarcho-Communist system.

The situation in Lafayette is truly disturbing and most concerning. The Government of Sørlandeten sends
its condolences for the murder of President Dubois. It is our hope that the local authorities can bring the
situation under control and ensure that any further loss of life can be prevented.

The oppressive regime in Lafayette is reaping what it has sown. While we have no sympathy for the dictatorship we are also cautious towards the 'Black Suns'. The combination of anarchism and communism is indeed a dangerous one and might undermine the entire uprising. We invite all willing Lafayettese leftists to visit Kadikistan and witness true communism. The science behind Leninovism can not be ignored, according to our specialists it is the only socialist system that can prosper in rightist Europe without going against its ideals.

Orem University Sets Gold Standard, Say Statistics

Students who attend Orem University have certainly set their standards high. The schools reputation as a school for the wealthy is being cracked, as students can attend the school free if they maintian a 4.0 GPA. However, maintaining a 4.0 at Orem University is harder than one might think. Dubbed 'The Most Difficult Unviersity in the Nation', its courses are exceedingly difficult. But, those who are able to keep up recieve the most valuable diploma available from a University in Lafayette.

Interesting New Law Now In Place

Citizens now decide which government department recieves their Income Tax revenue. It is suspected that the people will be putting atleast 21%* more money into departments such as Education, Welfare, and Healthcare. Rather than in departments like Defence and Law & Order. However, other taxes still go to whatever the government wants them to.

Gambling Industry Booming

The backbone of Lafayette's private industry, The Gambling Industry is becoming even larger. With new poker houses opening up constantly, it seems there is no stopping it. Some poker houses, gambling halls, and casino's are falling under scrutiny. Mostly because they all double as whore houses and smuggling halls. However, certain laws protect these gambling establishments from law enforcements involvement.

Corruption In Lafayette

Despite our people's ongoing effort to erase corruption in our society, it has proven to be an evil that does not go away so easily. Currently there is a lengthy trial coming to a close in the Supreme Court. Three Congressmen (whose names we cannot publish), who are members of the Christian Democrats Party, are suspected of racketeering amongst other charges. It seems the three Christian Democrats were paying off factory owners into letting the three men run a diamond smuggling racket. The controversy of this case may go all the way into the Lutheran Chruch in Lafayette.

More Private Industry?

Congress is now debating on whether to let its grip go on some industries. However, it remains extremely divided on the subject. Industries up for privatization are; Healthcare, Weapons, and Recreation (drugs).
