Subject: Article on Count Di Perugia’s supposed affair with a man.
Tegeata, 3 March 1953
Dear Sirs/Madams,
I am writing to you on behalf of my client Count Stefano di Perugia, who applied to me upon reading the article in your issue of 2 March 1953, in which it was described that my client would have had sexual intercourse with a man.
I am baffled about the fact that you did not ask my client to react on any rumours about his supposed homosexuality, so that he could have made clear that these rumours are based on blatant lies and that the pictures used as a basis for your claim about my client’s supposed homosexuality are fabrications.
Because of your irresponsible handling of unconfirmed rumours, my client’s reputation has been severely damaged, as well as his personal life. We summon you to publish a rectification of your article on my client’s supposed affair with a man in your issue of 2 March 1953 on 5 March 1953 at the latest. This rectification must be placed page‑wide and at least 30 centimeters tall on the front page of your newspaper, above the fold. You can find the exact contents of that rectification in the attachment to this letter. Furthermore, I summon you to pay a compensation of 5000 Solaris Lire for the legal costs made by my client. Should our demands not be met, we will charge you for libel. The compensations for legal costs we will demand before the court will be considerably higher than we demand now; furthermore, we will demand a compensation for immaterial damage in that case.
Sincerely,
«Signature illegible»
